Sic nos existimet homo ut ministros Christi, et dispensatores mysteriorum Dei. |
So a man gesse vs, as mynystris of Crist, and dispenderis of the mynysteries of God. |
Let a man so account of us as of the ministers of Christ, and the dispensers of the mysteries of God. |

Hic jam quæritur inter dispensatores ut fidelis quis inveniatur. |
Now it is souyt here among the dispenderis, that a man be foundun trewe. |
Here now it is required among the dispensers, that a man be found faithful. |

Mihi autem pro minimo est ut a vobis judicer, aut ab humano die: sed neque meipsum judico. |
And to me it is for the leest thing, that Y be demyd of you, or of mannus dai; but nether Y deme my silf. |
But to me it is a very small thing to be judged by you, or by man's day; but neither do I judge my own self. |

Nihil enim mihi conscius sum, sed non in hoc justificatus sum: qui autem judicat me, Dominus est. |
For Y am no thing ouer trowynge to my silf, but not in this thing Y am iustified; for he that demeth me, is the Lord. |
For I am not conscious to myself of any thing, yet am I not hereby justified; but he that judgeth me, is the Lord. |

Itaque nolite ante tempus judicare, quoadusque veniat Dominus: qui et illuminabit abscondita tenebrarum, et manifestabit consilia cordium: et tunc laus erit unicuique a Deo. |
Therfor nyle ye deme bifore the tyme, til that the Lord come, which schal liytne the hyd thingis of derknessis, and schal schewe the counseils of hertis; and thanne preisyng schal be to ech man of God. |
Therefore judge not before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise from God. |

Hæc autem, fratres, transfiguravi in me et Apollo, propter vos: ut in nobis discatis, ne supra quam scriptum est, unus adversus alterum infletur pro alio. |
And, britheren, Y haue transfigurid these thingis in to me and in to Apollo, for you; that in vs ye lerne, lest ouer that it is writun, oon ayens another be blowun with pride for another. |
But these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollo, for your sakes; that in us you may learn, that one be not puffed up against the other for another, above that which is written. |

Quis enim te discernit? quid autem habes quod non accepisti? si autem accepisti, quid gloriaris quasi non acceperis? |
Who demeth thee? And what hast thou, that thou hast not resseyued? And if thou hast resseyued, what gloriest thou, as thou haddist not resseyued? |
For who distinguisheth thee ? Or what hast thou that thou hast not received ? And if thou hast received, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it ? |

Jam saturati estis, jam divites facti estis: sine nobis regnatis: et utinam regnetis, ut et nos vobiscum regnemus. |
Nowe ye ben fyllid, now ye ben maad riche; ye regnen with outen vs; and Y wolde that ye regnen, that also we regnen with you. |
You are now full; you are now become rich; you reign without us; and I would to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you. |

Puto enim quod Deus nos Apostolos novissimos ostendit, tamquam morti destinatos: quia spectaculum facti sumus mundo, et angelis, et hominibus. |
And Y gesse, that God schewide vs the laste apostlis, as thilke that ben sent to the deth; for we ben maad a spectacle to the world, and to aungels, and to men. |
For I think that God hath set forth us apostles, the last, as it were men appointed to death: we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men. |

Nos stulti propter Christum, vos autem prudentes in Christo: nos infirmi, vos autem fortes: vos nobiles, nos autem ignobiles. |
We foolis for Crist, but ye prudent in Crist; we sike, but ye stronge; ye noble, but we vnnoble. |
We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honourable, but we without honour. |

Usque in hanc horam et esurimus, et sitimus, et nudi sumus, et colaphis cædimur, et instabiles sumus, |
Til in to this our we hungren, and thirsten, and ben nakid, and ben smytun with buffatis, |
Even unto this hour we both hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no fixed abode; |

et laboramus operantes manibus nostris: maledicimur, et benedicimus: persecutionem patimur, et sustinemus: |
and we ben vnstable, and we trauelen worchynge with oure hondis; we ben cursid, and we blessen; we suffren persecucioun, and we abiden longe; we ben blasfemyd, and we bisechen; |
And we labour, working with our own hands: we are reviled, and we bless; we are persecuted, and we suffer it. |

blasphemamur, et obsecramus: tamquam purgamenta hujus mundi facti sumus, omnium peripsema usque adhuc. |
as clensyngis of this world we ben maad the out castyng of alle thingis til yit. |
We are blasphemed, and we entreat; we are made as the refuse of this world, the offscouring of all even until now. |

Non ut confundam vos, hæc scribo, sed ut filios meos carissimos moneo. |
Y write not these thingis, that Y confounde you, but Y warne as my moste dereworthe sones. |
I write not these things to confound you; but I admonish you as my dearest children. |

15 |
Nam si decem millia pædagogorum habeatis in Christo, sed non multos patres. Nam in Christo Jesu per Evangelium ego vos genui. |
For whi if ye han ten thousynde of vndur maistris in Crist, but not many fadris; for in Crist Jhesu Y haue gendrid you bi the gospel. |
For if you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, by the gospel, I have begotten you. |

Rogo ergo vos, imitatores mei estote, sicut et ego Christi. |
Therfor, britheren, Y preye you, be ye foleweris of me, as Y of Crist. |
Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me, as I also am of Christ. |

17 |
Ideo misi ad vos Timotheum, qui est filius meus carissimus, et fidelis in Domino: qui vos commonefaciet vias meas, quæ sunt in Christo Jesu, sicut ubique in omni ecclesia doceo. |
Therfor Y sente to you Tymothe, which is my most dereworthe sone, and feithful in the Lord, which schal teche you my weies, that ben in Crist Jhesu; as Y teche euery where in ech chirche. |
For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my dearest son and faithful in the Lord; who will put you in mind of my ways, which are in Christ Jesus; as I teach every where in every church. |

Tamquam non venturus sim ad vos, sic inflati sunt quidam. |
As thouy Y schulde not come to you, so summe ben blowun with pride; |
As if I would not come to you, so some are puffed up. |
|
19 |
Veniam autem ad vos cito, si Dominus voluerit: et cognoscam non sermonem eorum qui inflati sunt, sed virtutem. |
but Y schal come to you soone, if God wole; and Y schal knowe not the word of hem that ben blowun with pride, but the vertu. |
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will: and will know, not the speech of them that are puffed up, but the power. |

Non enim in sermone est regnum Dei, sed in virtute. |
For the rewme of God is not in word, but in vertu. |
For the kingdom of God is not in speech, but in power. |
|
21 |
Quid vultis? in virga veniam ad vos, an in caritate, et spiritu mansuetudinis? |
What wole ye? Schal Y come to you in a yerde, or in charite, and in spirit of myldenesse? |
What will you ? shall I come to you with a rod; or in charity, and in the spirit of meekness ? |
