||And thei stoden bifore Moises, and Eleazar, preest, and alle the princes of the puple, at the dore of tabernacle of boond of pees; and seiden,
||And they stood before Moses and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the people at the door of the tabernacle of the covenant, and said:
||Pater noster mortuus est in deserto, nec fuit in seditione, qu? concitata est contra Dominum sub Core, sed in peccato suo mortuus est: hic non habuit mares filios. Cur tollitur nomen illius de familia sua, quia non habuit filium? date nobis possessionem inter cognatos patris nostri.
||Oure fadir was deed in the deseert, nether he was in the rebelte, that was reisid ayens the Lord, vndur Chore, but he was deed in his synne; he hadde no male sones. Whi is the name of hym takun awei fro his meynee, for he hath no sone? Yif ye possessioun to vs among the kynesmen of oure fadir.
||Our father died in the desert, and was not in the sedition, that was raised against the Lord under Core, but he died in his own sin: and he had no male children. Why is his name taken away out of his family, because he had no son? Give us a possession among the kinsmen of our father.
||Retulitque Moyses causam earum ad judicium Domini.
||And Moises telde the cause of hem to the doom of the Lord;
||And Moses referred their cause to the judgment of the Lord.
||Qui dixit ad eum:
||which seide to Moyses, The douytris of Salphaath axen a iust thing; yyue thou possessioun to hem among the kynnysmen of her fadir,
||And the Lord said to him:
||Justam rem postulant fili? Salphaad: da eis possessionem inter cognatos patris sui, et ei in h?reditatem succedant.
||and be thei successouris to hym in to eritage.
||The daughters of Salphaad demand a just thing : Give them a possession among their father's kindred, and let them succeed him in his inheritance.
||Ad filios autem Isra?l loqueris h?c:
||Forsothe thou schalt speke these thingis to the sons of Israel,
||And to the children of Israel thou shalt speak these things:
||Homo cum mortuus fuerit absque filio, ad filiam ejus transibit h?reditas.
||Whanne a man is deed with out sone, the eritage schal go to his douyter;
||When a man dieth without a son, his inheritance shall pass to his daughter.
||if he hath not a douyter, he schal haue eiris his britheren;
||If he have no daughter, his brethren shall succeed him.
||that and if britheren ben not, ye schulen yyue the eritage to the britheren of his fadir;
||And if he have no brethren, you shall give the inheritance to his father's brethren.
||forsothe if he hath no britheren of his fadir, the eritage schal be youun to hem that ben next to hym. And this schal be hooli, that is, stidefast, bi euerlastynge lawe to the sones of Israel, as the Lord comaundide to Moises.
||But if he have no uncles by the father, the inheritance shall be given to them that are the next akin. And this shall be to the children of Israel sacred by a perpetual law, as the Lord hath commanded Moses.
||Also the Lord seide to Moises, Stie thou in to this hil of Aberym, and biholde thou fro thennus the lond, which Y schal yyue to the sones of Israel.
||The Lord also said to Moses: Go up into this mountain Abarim, and view from thence the land which I will give to the children of Israel.

||Cumque videris eam, ibis et tu ad populum tuum, sicut ivit frater tuus Aaron:
||And whanne thou hast seyn it, also thou schalt go to thi puple, as thi brother Aaron yede;
||And when thou shalt have seen it, thou also shalt go to thy people, as thy brother Aaron is gone:
||quia offendistis me in deserto Sin in contradictione multitudinis, nec sanctificare me voluistis coram ea super aquas. H? sunt aqu? contradictionis in Cades deserti Sin.
||for thou offenddidist me in the deseert of Syn, in the ayen seiyng of the multitude, nether woldist halewe me bifor it, on the watris. These ben the watris of ayen seiyng, in Cades, of the deseert of Syn.
||Because you offended me in the desert of Sin in the contradiction of the multitude, neither would you sanctify me before them at the waters. These are the waters of contradiction in Cades of the desert of Sin.
||Cui respondit Moyses:
||To whom Moises answeryde,
||And Moses answered him:
||The Lord God of spiritis of al fleisch puruey a man, that be on this multitude,
||May the Lord the God of the spirits of all flesh provide a man, that may be over this multitude:
||et possit exire et intrare ante eos, et educere eos vel introducere: ne sit populus Domini sicut oves absque pastore.
||and may go out, and entre bifor hem, and lede hem out, and lede hem yn, lest the puple of the Lord be as scheep with out schepherde.
||And may go out and in before them, and may lead them out, or bring them in: lest the people of the Lord be as sheep without a shepherd.
||And the Lord seide to hym, Take thou Josue, the sone of Nun, a man in whom the spyrit of God is, and set thin hond on hym; and he schal stonde bifore Eleazar,
||And the Lord said to him: Take Josue the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and put thy hand upon him.
||preest, and bifore al the multitude.
||And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest and all the multitude:
||et dabis ei pr?cepta cunctis videntibus, et partem glori? tu?, ut audiat eum omnis synagoga filiorum Isra?l.
||And thou schalt yyue to hym comaundementis, in the siyt of alle men, and a part of thi glorie, that al the synagoge of the sones of Israel here hym.
||And thou shalt give him precepts in the sight of all, and part of thy glory, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may hear him.
||If ony thing schal be worthi to be do for this man, Eleasar, preest, schal counseil the Lord; he schal go out, and schal go yn, at the word of Eleazar; he, and alle the sones of Israel with him, and the tother multitude.
||If any thing be to be done, Eleazar the priest shall consult the Lord for him. He and all the children of Israel with him, and the rest of the multitude shall go out and go in at his word.
||Fecit Moyses ut pr?ceperat Dominus: cumque tulisset Josue, statuit eum coram Eleazaro sacerdote et omni frequentia populi.
||Moises dide as the Lord comaundide, and whanne he hadde take Josue, he settide hym bifore Eleazar, preest, and bifore al the multitude of the puple;
||Moses did as the Lord had commanded. And when he had taken Josue, he set him before Eleazar the priest, and all the assembly of the people,
||Et impositis capiti ejus manibus, cuncta replicavit qu? mandaverat Dominus.
||and whanne he hadde set hondis on his heed, he reherside alle thingis whiche the Lord comaundide.
||And laying his hands on his head, he repeated all things that the Lord had commanded.
