1 In anno secundo Joas filii Joachaz regis Israël, regnavit Amasias filius Joas regis Juda. Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde. In the second year of Joas son of Joachaz, king of Israel, reigned Amasias son of Joas king of Juda. AMAZIAH king of Judah. (795 BCE) 2Kgs.14.1-16 | 2Chr.25.1-24 
2 Viginti quinque annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset: viginti autem et novem annis regnavit in Jerusalem. Nomen matris ejus Joadan de Jerusalem. Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem. He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign: and nine and twenty gears he reigned in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Joadan of Jerusalem.  
3 Et fecit rectum coram Domino, verumtamen non ut David pater ejus. Juxta omnia quæ fecit Joas pater suus, fecit: And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli, And he did that which was right before the Lord, but yet not like David his father. He did according to all things that Joas his father did:  
4 nisi hoc tantum, quod excelsa non abstulit: adhuc enim populus immolabat, et adolebat incensum in excelsis. that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis. But this only, that he took not away the high places: for yet the people sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.  
5 Cumque obtinuisset regnum, percussit servos suos, qui interfecerant regem patrem suum: And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir; And when he had possession of the kingdom, he put his servants to death that had slain the king his father:  
6 filios autem eorum qui occiderant, non occidit, juxta quod scriptum est in libro legis Moysi, sicut præcepit Dominus, dicens: Non morientur patres pro filiis, neque filii morientur pro patribus: sed unusquisque in peccato suo morietur. but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne. But the children of the murderers he did not put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying: The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: but every man shall die for his own sins.  
7 Ipse percussit Edom in valle Salinarum decem millia, et apprehendit petram in prælio, vocavitque nomen ejus Jectehel usque in præsentem diem. He smoot Edom in the valey of makyngis of salt, he smoot ten thousynde, and took the Stoon in batel; and he clepide the name therof Jethel, til in to present dai. He slew of Edom h in the valley of the Saltpits ten thousand men, and took the rock by war, and called the name thereof Jectehel, unto this day.  
8 Tunc misit Amasias nuntios ad Joas filium Joachaz filii Jehu regis Israël, dicens: Veni, et videamus nos. Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs in batel. Then Amasias sent messengers to Joas son of Joachaz, son of Jehu king of Israel, saying: Come let us see one another.  
9 Remisitque Joas rex Israël ad Amasiam regem Juda, dicens: Carduus Libani misit ad cedrum, quæ est in Libano, dicens: Da filiam tuam filio meo uxorem. Transieruntque bestiæ saltus, quæ sunt in Libano, et conculcaverunt carduum. And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue. And Joas king of Israel sent again to Amasias king of Juda, saying: A thistle of Libanus sent to a cedar tree, which is in Libanus, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And the beasts of the forest, that are in Libanus, passed and trod down the thistle.  
10 Percutiens invaluisti super Edom, et sublevavit te cor tuum: contentus esto gloria, et sede in domo tua: quare provocas malum, ut cadas tu et Judas tecum? Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee? Thou hast beaten and prevailed over Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: be content with the glory, and sit at home: why provokest thou evil, that thou shouldst fall, and Juda with thee?  
11 Et non acquievit Amasias. Ascenditque Joas rex Israël, et viderunt se, ipse et Amasias rex Juda, in Bethsames oppido Judæ. And Amasie assentide not to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda. But Amasias did not rest satisfied. So Joas king of Israel went up, and he and Amasias king of Juda saw one another in Bethsames a town in Juda.  
12 Percussusque est Juda coram Israël, et fugerunt unusquisque in tabernacula sua. And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis. And Juda was put to the worst before Israel, and they fled every man to their dwellings.  
13 Amasiam vero regem Juda, filium Joas filii Ochoziæ, cepit Joas rex Israël in Bethsames, et adduxit eum in Jerusalem: et interrupit murum Jerusalem, a porta Ephraim usque ad portam anguli, quadringentis cubitis. Sotheli Joas, kyng of Israel, took in Bethsames Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Ocozie, and brouyte hym in to Jerusalem; and he brak the wal of Jerusalem, fro the yate of Effraym til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis. But Joas king of Israel took Amasias, king of Juda the son of Joas, the son of Ochozias, in Bethsames, and brought him into Jerusalem: and he broke down the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim to the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits.  
14 Tulitque omne aurum et argentum, et universa vasa quæ inventa sunt in domo Domini et in thesauris regis, et obsides, et reversus est in Samariam. And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie. And he took all the gold, and silver, and all the vessels, that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the king's treasures, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.  
15 Reliqua autem verborum Joas quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus qua pugnavit contra Amasiam regem Juda, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël? Sotheli the resydue of wordis of Joas, whiche he dide, and his strengthe, bi which he fauyt ayens Amasie, kyng of Juda, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of dayes of the kyngis of Israel? But the rest of the acts of Joas, which he did, and his valour, wherewith he fought against Amasias king of Juda, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?  
16 Dormivitque Joas cum patribus suis, et sepultus est in Samaria cum regibus Israël, et regnavit Jeroboam filius ejus pro eo. And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym. And Joas slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel: and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.  
17 Vixit autem Amasias filius Joas rex Juda postquam mortuus est Joas filius Joachaz regis Israël, quindecim annis. Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed. And Amasias the son of Joas king of Juda lived, after the death of Joas son of Joachaz king of Israel fifteen years. Death of Amaziah. 2Kgs.14.17-22 | 2Chr.25.25-28 
18 Reliqua autem sermonum Amasiæ, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Juda? Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amasie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda? And the rest of the acts of Amasias, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?  
19 Factaque est contra eum conjuratio in Jerusalem: at ille fugit in Lachis. Miseruntque post eum in Lachis, et interfecerunt eum ibi: And sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there. Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachis. And they sent after him to Lachis, and killed him there.  
20 et asportaverunt in equis, sepultusque est in Jerusalem cum patribus suis in civitate David. And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid. And they brought him away upon horses, and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.  
21 Tulit autem universus populus Judæ Azariam annos natum sedecim, et constituerunt eum regem pro patre ejus Amasia. Forsothe al the puple of Juda took Azarie, hauynge sixtene yeer; and maden hym king for his fadir Amasie. And all the people of Juda took Azarias, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amasias.  
22 Ipse ædificavit Ælath, et restituit eam Judæ, postquam dormivit rex cum patribus suis. And he bildide Ahila, and restoride it to Juda, after that the kyng slepte with hise fadris. He built Elath, and restored it to Juda, after that the king slept with his fathers.  
23 Anno quintodecimo Amasiæ filii Joas regis Juda, regnavit Jeroboam filius Joas regis Israël in Samaria, quadraginta et uno anno. In the fiftenethe yeer of Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, Jeroboam, sone of Joas, kyng of Israel, regnyde in Samarie oon and fourti yeer; In the fifteenth year of Amasias k son of Joas king of Juda, reigned Jeroboam the son of Joas king of Israel in Samaria, one and forty years : JEROBOAM (2) king of Israel. (788 BCE) 2Kgs.14.23-29
24 Et fecit quod malum est coram Domino: non recessit ab omnibus peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël. and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne. And he did that which was evil before the Lord. He departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin.  
25 Ipse restituit terminos Israël ab introitu Emath usque ad mare solitudinis, juxta sermonem Domini Dei Israël quem locutus est per servum suum Jonam filium Amathi prophetam, qui erat de Geth, quæ est in Opher. He restoride the termes of Israel, fro the entryng of Emath til to the see of wildirnesse, bi the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spak bi his seruaunt Jonas, sone of Amathi, bi Jonas, the prophete, that was of Jeth, which Jeth is in Ophir. He restored the borders of Israel from the entrance of Emath, unto the sea of the wilderness, according to the word of the Lord the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonas the son of Amathi, the prophet, who was of Geth, which is in Opher.  
26 Vidit enim Dominus afflictionem Israël amaram nimis, et quod consumpti essent usque ad clausos carcere et extremos, et non esset qui auxiliaretur Israëli. For the Lord siy the ful bittir turment of Israel, and that thei weren wastid til to the closid men of prisoun, and the laste men, and noon was that helpide Israel. For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel that it was exceeding bitter, and that they were consumed even to them that were shut up in prison, and the lowest persons, and that there was no one to help Israel.  
27 Nec locutus est Dominus ut deleret nomen Israël de sub cælo, sed salvavit eos in manu Jeroboam filii Joas. And the Lord spak not, that he schulde do awei Israel fro vndur heuene, but he sauyde hem in the hond of Jeroboam, sone of Joas. And the Lord did not say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joas.  
28 Reliqua autem sermonum Jeroboam, et universa quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus qua præliatus est, et quomodo restituit Damascum et Emath Judæ in Israël, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël? Forsothe the residue of wordis of Jeroboam, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and the strengthe of hym, bi which he fauyt, and hou he restoride Damask, and Emath of Juda, in Israel, whether these ben not wrytun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel? But the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his velour, where- with he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Emath to Juda in Israel, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?  
29 Dormivitque Jeroboam cum patribus suis regibus Israël, et regnavit Zacharias filius ejus pro eo. And Jeroboam slepte with hise fadris, the kyngis of Israel; and Azarie, his sone, regnede for hym. And Jeroboam slept with his fathers the kings of Israel, and Zacharias his son reigned in his stead.
