καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his brethren, nor as his mother: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father made, and broke them in pieces: only he was joined to the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the Lord was very angry with the house of Achaab. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Joram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years [beginning] in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Then the king of Israel said to Josaphat, I will send forth thy servants and my servants in the ship: but Josaphat would not. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and there was no king in Syria, [but] a deputy. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And king Josaphat made a ship at Tharsis to go to Sophir for gold; but it went not, for the ship was broken at Gasion Gaber. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the remains of the prostitution which they practiced in the days of Asa his father, he removed out of the land: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Now the engagements which Josaphat made with the king of Israel, and all his mighty deeds which he performed, and the enemies whom he fought against, behold [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not from it, [even] from doing right in the eyes of the Lord: only they removed not [any] of the high places; they sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And in the eleventh year of Ambri Josaphat the son of Asa reigns, [being] thirty-five years old in the beginning of his reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Gazuba, daughter of Seli. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the word of the Lord came to Samaia the man of God, saying, Speak to Roboam king of Juda, and all the house of Juda and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go up, neither shall thou fight with your brethren the sons of Israel: return every man to his house, for this thing is from me. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and they ceased from going up, according to the word of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And it came to pass at the beginning of the year, that Roboam gathered all the men of Juda and Benjamin, and went up to fight with Jeroboam at Sikima. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And all the people were dispersed from Sikima, and they departed every one to his tent: and Roboam strengthened himself and departed, and mounted his chariot, and entered into Jerusalem: and there follow him the whole tribe of Juda, and the whole tribe of Benjamin. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the saying pleased Roboam, and he answered the people as the young men, they that were brought up with him, counselled him: and all the people spoke as one man, every one to his neighbour, and they cried out all together, saying, We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jessae: to thy tents, O Israel, every one; for this man [is] not for a prince or a ruler over us. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Roboam rejected their councel, and it pleased him not: and he sent and brought in those who had been brought up with him; and he said to them, Thus and thus has the people sent to me to say: and they that had been brought up this him said, Thus shalt thou speak to the people, saying, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins; my father scourged you with whips, but I will rule you with scorpions. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Roboam said, Bring in to me the elders, and I will take councel with them what I shall answer to the people on the third day. So Roboam spoke in their ears, as the people sent to him [to say]: and the elders of the people said, Thus the people have spoken to thee. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the word of the Lord came to Samaias son of Enlami, saying, Take to thyself a new garment which has not gone into the water, and rend it [into[ twelve pieces; and thou shalt give [some[ to Jeroboam, and shalt say to him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thyself ten pieces to cover thee: and Jeroboam took [them]: and Samaias said, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the ten tribes of Israel. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the people said to Roboam the son of Solomon, Thy father made his yoke heavy upon us, and made the meat of his table heavy; and now thou shalt lighten them upon us, and we will serve thee. And Roboam said to the people, Wait three days, and I will return you an answer: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the woman departed, when she heard this: and it came to pass as she entered into Sarira, that the child died; and there came forth a wailing to meet[ her]. And Jeroboam went to Sikima in mount Ephraim, and assembled there the tribes of Israel; and Roboam the son of Solomon went up thither. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Ano went in to the man of God; and Achia said to her, Why hast thou brought me bread and grapes, and cakes, and a pot of honey? Thus saith the Lord, Behold, thou shalt depart from me, and it shall come to pass when thou hast entered into the city, [even] into Sarira, that thy maidens shall come out to meet thee, and shall say to thee, The child is dead: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | for thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will destroy every male of Jeroboam, and there shall be the dead of Jeroboam in the city, [them] the dogs shall eat, and him that has died in the field shall the birds of the air eat, and he shall lament for the child, [saying], Woe is [me], Lord! For there has been found in him some good thing touching the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the woman arose, and took in her hand bread, and two cakes, and grapes, and a pot of honey, for Achia: and the man [was] old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And she rose up from Sarira and went; and it came to pass when she had come into the city to Achia the Selonite, that Achia said to his servant, Go out now to meet Ano the wife of Jeroboam, and thou thalt say to her, Come in, and stand not [still]: for thus saith the Lord, I send greivous tidings to thee. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Now there was a man in Selom, and his name [was] Achia: and he was sixty years old, and the word of the Lord [was] with him. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, and take in thine hand loaves for the man of God, and cakes for his children, and grapes, and a pot of honey. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Jeroboam heard in Egypt that Solomon was dead; and he spoke in the ears of Susakim king of Egypt, saying, Let me go, and I will depart into my land; and Susakim said to him, Ask any request, and I will grant it thee. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Susakim gave to Jeroboam Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife, to be his wife: she was great among the daughters of the king, and she bore to Jeroboam Abia his son: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | nd Jeroboam said to Susakim, Let me indeed go, and I will depart. And Jeroboam departed out of Eqypt, and came into the land of Sarira that was in mount Ephraim, and thither the whole tribe of Ephraim assembles, and Jeroboam built a fortress there. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And his young child was sick with a very severe sickness; and Jeroboam went to enquire concerning the child: and he said to Ano his wife, Arise, go enquire of God concerning the child, whether he shall recover from his sickness. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And there was a man of mount Ephraim, a servant of Solomon, and his name [was] Jeroboam; and the name of his mother [was] Sarira, a harlot; and Solomon made him head of the levies of the house of Joseph: and he built for Solomon Sarira in mount Ephraim; and he had three hundred chariots of horses: he built the citadel with the levies of the house of Ephraim; he fortified the city of David, and aspired to the kingdom. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Solomon sought to kill him; and he was afraid, and escaped to Susakim king of Egypt, and was with him until Solomon died. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | So king Solomon sleeps with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Roboam his son reigned in his stead in Jerusalem, being sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twelve years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Naaman, daughter of Ana son of Naas king of the children of Ammon. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked not in the way of David his father. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Then spoke Solomon concerning the house, when he had finished building it - He manifested the sun in the heaven: the Lord said he would dwell in darkness: build thou my house, a beautiful house for thyself to dwell in anew. Behold, is not this written in the book of the song? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And [there were made] the porches, and the nails, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the golden censers, of pure gold: and the panels of the doors of the innermost part of the house, [even] the holy of holies, and the golden doors of the temple. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | wide [enough] for the bars, so as to bear the altar with them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He made the pins of the tabernacle and the pins of the court of brass. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And they put the two golden rings on both the [upper] corners of the oracle; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the ephod opposite [each other] in front. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the emerald stones, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the incense, and the anointing oil, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | These are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Pharao hardened his heart, even on this occasion, and he would not send the people away. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | so Solomon the son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And he reigned over all the kings from the river and the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Solomon had forty thousand brood mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horses. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And these [were] the princes of Solomon; Azariu son of Sadoc the priest, and Orniu son of Nathan chief of the officers, and he went to his house; and Suba the scribe, and Basa son of Achithalam recorder, and Abi son of Joab commander-in-chief, and Achire son of Edrai [was] over the levies, and Banaeas son of Jodae over the household and over the brickwork, and Cachur the son of Nathan [was] counsellor. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he was at peace on all sides round about; and Juda and Israel dwelt safely, every one under his vine and under his fig tree, eating and drinking and feasting, from Dan even to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For he ruled in all the country on this side of the river, from Raphi unto Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the river: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he built Thermae in the wilderness. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And this was the daily provision of Solomon, thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of ground meal, ten choice calves, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides stags, and does, and choice fed birds. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Solomon began to open the domains of Libanus, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And king Solomon was very prudent and wise: and Juda and Israel [were] very many, as the sand which is by the sea for multitude, eating, and drinking, and rejoicing: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Solomon was chief in all the kingdoms, and they brought gifts, and served Solomon all the days of his life. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, He shall not be slain with the sword. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But now do not thou hold him guiltless, for thou [art] a man of understanding, and thou wilt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | he cursed me with a greivous curse in the day when I went into the camp; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And when David was yet living, he charged Solomon, saying, Behold, [there is] with thee Samei the son of Gera, of the seed of Benjamin out of Chebron: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Solomon offered up three whole burnt-offerings in the year, and peace-offerings on the alter which he built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord, and finished the house. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And these [are] the chief persons who presided over the works of Solomon; three thousand and six hundred masters of the people that wrought the works. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And he built Assur, and Magdo, and Gazer, and upper Baethoron, and Ballath: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | only after he had built the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about, afterwards he built these cities. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | thus the daughter of Pharao went up out of the city of David to her house which he built for her. Then he built the citadel; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Solomon made the sea, and the bases, and the great lavers, and the pillers, and the fountain of the court, and the brazen sea - and he built the citadel as a defence above it, he made a breach in the wall of the city of David; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and he took the daighter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and of the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. In seven years he made and finished them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and thou thyself sittest down to spend the nights in the open air among the corruption of worms, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and I am a wanderer and a servant from place to place and house to house, waiting for the setting of the sun, that I may rest from my labours and my pangs which now beset me; but say some word against the Lord, and die. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | for, behold, thy memorial is abolished from the earth, [even your] sons and daughters, the pangs and pains of my womb which I bore in vain with sorrows; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Behold, I wait yet a little while, expecting the hope of my deliverance? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and [then] revolted from him. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | but [he] had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And Pharao Nechao bound him in Deblatha in the land of Aemath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the Lord said, I will even remove Juda also from my presence, as I have removed Israel, and I have rejected the city which I chose, [even] Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the anger of his fierce wrath, wherewith the Lord was greatly angry against Juda, for all the provocations wherewith Manasses provoked him: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | There was no [king] like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and all his soul, and all his strength, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there rose up none like him. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And king Josias burnt those who had in them a divining spirit, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and the sodomites which were in the land of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law that were written in the book which Chelcias the priest found in the house of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia: and his name before was Jobab; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon. And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over: first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba: but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job: and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman: and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab; and the name of his city was Gethaim. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The beginning of a good way is to do justly; and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness; and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | A son that keeps the commandment shall escape destruction; for [such an one] has fully received it. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let no falsehood be spoken by the king from the tongue; yes, let no falsehood proceed from his tongue. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The king's tongue is a sword, and not one of flesh; and whosoever shall be given up to [it] shall be destroyed: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | for if his wrath should be provoked, he destroys men with cords, and devours men's bones, and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles. [My] son, reverence my words, and receive them, and repent. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | So that He will distinguish between the righteous and the sinner, [And] recompense the sinners for ever according to their deeds; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And have mercy on the righteous, [delivering him] from the affliction of the sinner, And recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to the righteous. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For the Lord is good to them that call upon Him in patience, Doing according to His mercy to His pious ones, Establishing [them] at all times before Him in strength. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed be the Lord for ever before His servants. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He falleth - verily grievous is his fall - and riseth no more. The destruction of the sinner is for ever, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And he shall not be remembered, when the righteous is visited. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | This is the portion of sinners for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal, And their life [shall be] in the light of the Lord, and shall come to an end no more. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are they that fear the Lord in their flawlessness; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord shall deliver them from guileful men and sinners, And deliver us from every stumbling-block of the lawless [men]. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let God destroy them that insolently work all unrighteousness, For a great and mighty judge is the Lord our God in righteousness. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that love Thee. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness, And hereby the blessing of the Lord [becomes] abundance with righteousness. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They that fear the Lord rejoice in good [gifts], And Your goodness is upon Israel in Your kingdom. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed is the glory of the Lord for He is our king. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | When his heart is at peace, he singeth to the name of his God, And he entreateth the Lord for all his house. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the Lord heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God, And every request of the soul that hopes for Him doth the Lord accomplish. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed is the Lord, who showeth mercy to those who love Him in sincerity. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For Your faithfulness is with us. And [though] we have stiffened our neck, yet You are our chastener; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Overlook us not, O our God, lest the nations swallow us up, as though there were none to deliver. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But You are our God from the beginning, And upon Thee is our hope [set], O Lord; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And we will not depart from Thee, For good are Your judgments upon us. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Ours and our children's be Your good pleasure for ever; O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgments with the mouth of His pious ones; And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He cleanseth from sins a soul when it maketh confession, when it maketh acknowledgement; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For shame is upon us and upon our faces on account of all these things. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And to whom doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for the sins that they have committed; And Your goodness is upon them that sin, when they repent. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And, now, You are our God, and we the people whom You have loved: Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we are Thine; And remove not Your mercy from us, lest they assail us. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For You didst choose the seed of Abraham before all the nations, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And didst set Your name upon us, O Lord, And You will not reject [us] for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You made a covenant with our fathers concerning us; And we hope in Thee, when our soul turneth [to Thee]. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The mercy of the Lord be upon the house of Israel for ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The salvation of the Lord be upon the house of Israel to everlasting gladness! | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The salvation of the Lord be upon Israel His servant for ever; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And let the sinners perish together at the presence of the Lord; But let the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For sins shall lay waste the houses of sinners. And sinners shall perish for ever in the day of the Lord's judgment, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | When God visiteth the earth with His judgment. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But they that fear the Lord shall find mercy therein, And shall live by the compassion of their God; But sinners shall perish for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth; He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | His words [shall be] more refined than costly gold, the choicest; In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | His words [shall be] like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed be they that shall be in those days, In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel! May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies! The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | In the fear of God [they pursue] their path every day, From the day God created them and for evermore. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And they have erred not since the day He created them. Since the generations of old they have not withdrawn from their path, Unless God commanded them [so to do] by the command of His servants. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Jesus Christ | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Father Almighty; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | only begotten Son, Lord | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | we bless you, | |||

καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | we glorify you, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and we thank you, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | for your great glory. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lord, King, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Heavenly God, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | MORNING HYMN. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Glory to God in the highest, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and on earth peace, | |||

καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He has shown strength with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | he has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | My soul magnifies the Lord, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, | |||

καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let them know that you are the Lord, the only God, glorious over the whole world. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted, as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls, and with tens of thousands of fat lambs; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | such may our sacrifice be in your sight this day, and may we wholly follow you, for there will be no shame for those who trust in you. | |||

καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For your name's sake do not give us up utterly, and do not break your covenant, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and do not withdraw your mercy from us, for the sake of Abraham your beloved and for the sake of Isaac your servant and Israel your holy one, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | to whom you didst promise to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the shore of the sea. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation, and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And at this time there is no prince, or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, no place to make an offering before you or to find mercy. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | So all that you have brought upon us, and all that you have done to us, you have done in true judgment. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | we have not observed them or done them, as you have commanded us that it might go well with us. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For you are just in all that you have done to us, and all your works are true and your ways right, and all your judgments are truth. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You have executed true judgments in all that you have brought upon us and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers, for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from you, and have sinned in all things and have not obeyed your commandments; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF AZARIAH. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers, and worthy of praise; and your name is glorified for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF MANASSE. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and I will not cease blessing you with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For they that are in the grave shall not praise you, neither shall the dead bless you, neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The living shall bless you, as I also [do]: for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare your righteousness, O God of my salvation; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and removed the sorrow of my soul. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | [Yea], O Lord, for it was told you concerning this; and you have revived my breath; and I am comforted, and live. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish: and you have cast all [my] sins behind me. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | As a swallow, so will I cry, and as a dove, so do I mourn: for mine eyes have failed with looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | [My life] has failed from among my kindred: I have parted with the remainder of my life: it has gone forth and departed from me, as one that having pitched a tent takes it down [again]: my breath was with me as a weaver's web, when she that weaves draws nigh to cut off [the] thread. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning: so has he broken all my bones: for I was so given up from day [even] to night. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I said, I shall no more at all see the salvation of God in the land of the living: I shall no more at all see the salvation of Israel on the earth: I shall no more at all see man. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF HEZEKIAH. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I shall part with the remainder of my years. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | yet I will exult in the Lord, I will joy in God my Saviour. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord God is my strength, and he will perfectly strengthen my feet; he mounts me upon high places, that I may conquer by his song. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For [though] the fig-tree shall bear no fruit, and there shall be no produce on the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall produce no food: the sheep have failed from the pasture, and there are no oxen at the cribs; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips, and trembling entered into my bones, and my frame was troubled within me; I will rest in the day of affliction, from going up to the people of my sojourning. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And you dost cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You didst cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it; they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed: you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors; you has brought bands upon [their] neck. Pause. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course: your darts shall go forth at the light, at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You will bring low the land with threatening, and in wrath you will break down the nations. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or [was] your wrath against the rivers, or your anger against the sea? for you will mount on your horses, and your chariots are salvation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Surely you didst bend they bow at scepters, says the Lord. Pause. The land of rivers shall be torn asunder. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The nations shall see you and be in pain, [as you dost] divide the moving waters: the deep uttered her voice, and raised her form on high. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians: the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Before his face shall go a report, and it shall go forth into the plains, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | the earth stood at his feet and trembled: he beheld, and the nations melted away: the mountains were violently burst through, the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And his brightness shall be as light; [there were] horns in his hands, and he caused a mighty love of his strength. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | God shall come from Thaeman, and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan. Pause. His excellence covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF HABAKKUK. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid: I considered your works, and was amazed: you shall be known between the two living creatures, you shall be acknowledged when the years draw nigh; you shall be manifested when the time is come; when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to you into your holy temple. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of praise and thanksgiving: all that I have vowed I will pay to you, the Lord of [my] salvation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down to the clefts of the mountains; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all your billows and your waves have passed upon me. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And I said, I am cast out of your presence: shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF JONAH. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: you heard my voice. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Go, my people, enter into your closets, shut your door, hide yourself for a little season, until the anger of the Lord have passed away. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised, and they that are in the earth shall rejoice: for the dew from you is healing to them: but the land of the ungodly shall perish. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain; so have we been to your beloved. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain, and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth: we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Bring more evils upon them, O Lord; bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lord, in affliction I remembered you; your chastening was to us with small affliction. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | O Lord our God, give us peace: for you have rendered to us all things. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | O Lord our God, take possession of us: O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | But he dead shall not see life, neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up: therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not: but when they know they shall be ashamed: jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF ISAIAH. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God, for your commandments are a light on the earth: learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For the ungodly one is put down: no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth: let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For these things have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Woe [to them] that join house to house, and add field to field, that they may take away something of their neighbor's: will you dwell alone upon the land? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And I will forsake my vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug, and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land; and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Juda [his] beloved plant: I expected [it] to bring forth judgement, and it brought forth iniquity; and not righteousness, but a cry. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | What shall I do any more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? Whereas I expected [it] to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil; and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be [left] to be trodden down. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And now, you dwellers in Jerusalem, and [every] man of Juda, judge between me and my vineyard. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench, and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine-vat in it: and I waited [for it] to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | SONG OF ISAIAH. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Now I will sing to [my] beloved a song of my beloved concerning my vineyard. [My] beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord will weaken his adversary; the Lord [is] holy. Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, nor let the mighty man boast in his strength, and let not the rich man boast in his wealth; but let him that boasts boast in this, to understand and know the Lord, and to execute judgement and justice in the midst of the earth. The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered: he will judge the extremities of the earth, and he gives strength to our kings, and will exalt the horn of his Christ. And she left him there before the Lord, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | granting his petition to him that prays; and he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises the needy from the dunghill; to seat him with the princes of the people, and causing them to inherit the throne of glory: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord makes poor, and makes rich; he brings low, and lifts up. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord kills and makes alive; he brings down to the grave, and brings up. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble, and the weak have girded themselves with strength. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They that were full of bread are brought low; and the hungry have forsaken the land; for the barren has born seven, and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Boast not, and utter not high things; let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth, for the Lord [is] a God of knowledge, and God prepares his own designs. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | My heart is established in the Lord, my horn is exalted in my God; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, I have rejoiced in your salvation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For there is none holy as the Lord, and there is none righteous as our God; there is none holy besides you. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | PRAYER OF HANNA THE MOTHER OF SAMUEL. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Rejoice, you heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice you Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall purge the land of his people. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I will make my weapons drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, [it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded, and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For I will sharpen my sword like lightning, and my hand shall take hold of judgment; and I will render judgment to my enemies, and will recompense them that hate me. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For I will lift up my hand to heaven, and swear by my right hand, and I will say, I live for ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Behold, behold that I am [he], and there is no god beside me: I kill, and I will make to live: I will smite, and I will heal; and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | the fat of whose sacrifices you ate, and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings? let them arise and help you, and be your protectors. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and the Lord said, Where are their gods on whom they trusted? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For the Lord shall judge his people, and shall be comforted over his servants; for he saw that they were utterly weakened, and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | In the day of vengeance I will recompense, whenever their foot shall be tripped up; for the day of their destruction [is] near to them, and the judgments at hand are close upon you. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lo! are not these things stored up by me, and sealed among my treasures? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Their wine [is] the rage of serpents, and the incurable rage of asps. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, and their vine-branch of Gomorrha: their grape [is] a grape of gall, their cluster [is] one of bitterness. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For their gods are not as our God, but our enemies [are] void of understanding. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | How should one pursue a thousand, and two rout tens of thousands, if God had not sold them, and the Lord delivered them up? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They had not sense to understand: let them reserve these things against the time to come. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | It is a nation that has lost counsel, neither is there understanding in them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long, lest their enemies should combine against them; lest they should say, Our own high arm, and not the Lord, has done all these things. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I said, I will scatter them, and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Without, the sword shall bereave them of children, and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers; the young man shall perish with the virgin, the suckling with him who has grown old. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | [They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds, and there shall be irremediable destruction: I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts, with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I will gather evils upon them, and will fight with my weapons against them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God, they have exasperated me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and said, I will turn away my face from them, and will show what shall happen to them in the last days; for it is a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faith. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And the Lord saw, and was jealous; and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You have forsaken God that begot you, and forgotten God who feeds you. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They sacrificed to devils, and not to God; to gods whom they knew not: new and fresh [gods] came in, whom their fathers knew not. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They provoked me to anger with strange gods; with their abominations they bitterly angered me. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | So Jacob ate and was filled, and the beloved one kicked; he grew fat, he became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Saviour. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with the fat of lambs and rams, of calves and kids, with fat of kidneys of wheat; and he drank wine, the blood of the grape. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He brought them up on the strength of the land; he fed them with the fruits of the fields; they sucked honey out of the rock, and oil out of the solid rock. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | the Lord alone led them, there was no strange god with them. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | As an eagle would watch over his brood, and yearns over his young, receives them having spread his wings, and takes them up on his back: | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He maintained him in the wilderness, in burning thirst and a dry land: he led him about and instructed him, and kept him as the apple of an eye. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of his inheritance. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Remember the days of old, consider the years for past ages: ask your father, and he shall relate to you, your elders, and they shall tell you. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Do you thus recompense the Lord? [is the] people thus foolish and unwise? did not he himself your father purchase you, and make you, and form you? | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | They have sinned, not [pleasing] him; spotted children, a froward and perverse generation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | [As for God], his works [are] true, and all his ways [are] judgment: God [is] faithful, and there is no unrighteousness [in him]; just and holy [is] the Lord. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For I have called on the name of the Lord: assign you greatness to our God. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Attend, O heaven, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | SONG OF MOSES IN DEUTERONOMY. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea, but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance, in your prepared habitation, which you, O Lord, have prepared; the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made ready. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let trembling and fear fall upon them; by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone; till your people pass over, O Lord, till this your people pass over, whom you have purchased. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Then the princes of Edom, and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted; trembling took hold upon them, all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The nations heard and were angry, pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You have guided in your righteousness this your people whom you have redeemed, by your strength you have called them into your holy resting-place. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You stretched forth your right hand, the earth swallowed them up. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you? glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I will satisfy my soul, I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder; the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces: you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Your right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength; thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He covered them with the sea: they sank to the depth like a stone. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea, the chosen mounted captains: they were swallowed up in the Red Sea. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | The Lord bringing wars to nought, the Lord [is] his name. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | He was to me a helper and protector for salvation: this is my God and I will glorify him; my father's God, and I will exalt him. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified: horse and rider he has thrown into the sea. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | SONG OF MOSES IN EXODUS. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lord God, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | the Lamb of God, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | the Son of the Father | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | who take away the sin of the world, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | have mercy on us, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | who take away the sins of the world. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Accept our supplication, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | you who sit at the right of the Father, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | have mercy on us. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For you are the only Holy One, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | you are the only Lord, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Jesus Christ, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | to the glory of God the Father. Amen. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Every evening I shall bless you, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and I shall praise your name forever, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and to the centuries of centuries. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Grant, O Lord, that in this night | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | we may be kept without sin. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our Fathers, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | I have said: Lord, have mercy on me, | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | heal my soul for I have sinned against you. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Lord, to you I have fled; | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | teach me to do your will for you are my God. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | For with you is the fountain of life;. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | in your light we shall see light. | |||
καὶ τοὺς λίθους τῆς σμαράγδου | Extend your mercy to those who know you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his brethren, nor as his mother: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father made, and broke them in pieces: only he was joined to the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the Lord was very angry with the house of Achaab. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Joram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years [beginning] in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Then the king of Israel said to Josaphat, I will send forth thy servants and my servants in the ship: but Josaphat would not. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and there was no king in Syria, [but] a deputy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And king Josaphat made a ship at Tharsis to go to Sophir for gold; but it went not, for the ship was broken at Gasion Gaber. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the remains of the prostitution which they practiced in the days of Asa his father, he removed out of the land: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Now the engagements which Josaphat made with the king of Israel, and all his mighty deeds which he performed, and the enemies whom he fought against, behold [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not from it, [even] from doing right in the eyes of the Lord: only they removed not [any] of the high places; they sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And in the eleventh year of Ambri Josaphat the son of Asa reigns, [being] thirty-five years old in the beginning of his reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Gazuba, daughter of Seli. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the word of the Lord came to Samaia the man of God, saying, Speak to Roboam king of Juda, and all the house of Juda and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go up, neither shall thou fight with your brethren the sons of Israel: return every man to his house, for this thing is from me. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and they ceased from going up, according to the word of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And it came to pass at the beginning of the year, that Roboam gathered all the men of Juda and Benjamin, and went up to fight with Jeroboam at Sikima. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And all the people were dispersed from Sikima, and they departed every one to his tent: and Roboam strengthened himself and departed, and mounted his chariot, and entered into Jerusalem: and there follow him the whole tribe of Juda, and the whole tribe of Benjamin. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the saying pleased Roboam, and he answered the people as the young men, they that were brought up with him, counselled him: and all the people spoke as one man, every one to his neighbour, and they cried out all together, saying, We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jessae: to thy tents, O Israel, every one; for this man [is] not for a prince or a ruler over us. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Roboam rejected their councel, and it pleased him not: and he sent and brought in those who had been brought up with him; and he said to them, Thus and thus has the people sent to me to say: and they that had been brought up this him said, Thus shalt thou speak to the people, saying, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins; my father scourged you with whips, but I will rule you with scorpions. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Roboam said, Bring in to me the elders, and I will take councel with them what I shall answer to the people on the third day. So Roboam spoke in their ears, as the people sent to him [to say]: and the elders of the people said, Thus the people have spoken to thee. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the word of the Lord came to Samaias son of Enlami, saying, Take to thyself a new garment which has not gone into the water, and rend it [into[ twelve pieces; and thou shalt give [some[ to Jeroboam, and shalt say to him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thyself ten pieces to cover thee: and Jeroboam took [them]: and Samaias said, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the ten tribes of Israel. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the people said to Roboam the son of Solomon, Thy father made his yoke heavy upon us, and made the meat of his table heavy; and now thou shalt lighten them upon us, and we will serve thee. And Roboam said to the people, Wait three days, and I will return you an answer: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the woman departed, when she heard this: and it came to pass as she entered into Sarira, that the child died; and there came forth a wailing to meet[ her]. And Jeroboam went to Sikima in mount Ephraim, and assembled there the tribes of Israel; and Roboam the son of Solomon went up thither. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Ano went in to the man of God; and Achia said to her, Why hast thou brought me bread and grapes, and cakes, and a pot of honey? Thus saith the Lord, Behold, thou shalt depart from me, and it shall come to pass when thou hast entered into the city, [even] into Sarira, that thy maidens shall come out to meet thee, and shall say to thee, The child is dead: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will destroy every male of Jeroboam, and there shall be the dead of Jeroboam in the city, [them] the dogs shall eat, and him that has died in the field shall the birds of the air eat, and he shall lament for the child, [saying], Woe is [me], Lord! For there has been found in him some good thing touching the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the woman arose, and took in her hand bread, and two cakes, and grapes, and a pot of honey, for Achia: and the man [was] old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And she rose up from Sarira and went; and it came to pass when she had come into the city to Achia the Selonite, that Achia said to his servant, Go out now to meet Ano the wife of Jeroboam, and thou thalt say to her, Come in, and stand not [still]: for thus saith the Lord, I send greivous tidings to thee. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Now there was a man in Selom, and his name [was] Achia: and he was sixty years old, and the word of the Lord [was] with him. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, and take in thine hand loaves for the man of God, and cakes for his children, and grapes, and a pot of honey. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Jeroboam heard in Egypt that Solomon was dead; and he spoke in the ears of Susakim king of Egypt, saying, Let me go, and I will depart into my land; and Susakim said to him, Ask any request, and I will grant it thee. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Susakim gave to Jeroboam Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife, to be his wife: she was great among the daughters of the king, and she bore to Jeroboam Abia his son: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | nd Jeroboam said to Susakim, Let me indeed go, and I will depart. And Jeroboam departed out of Eqypt, and came into the land of Sarira that was in mount Ephraim, and thither the whole tribe of Ephraim assembles, and Jeroboam built a fortress there. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And his young child was sick with a very severe sickness; and Jeroboam went to enquire concerning the child: and he said to Ano his wife, Arise, go enquire of God concerning the child, whether he shall recover from his sickness. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And there was a man of mount Ephraim, a servant of Solomon, and his name [was] Jeroboam; and the name of his mother [was] Sarira, a harlot; and Solomon made him head of the levies of the house of Joseph: and he built for Solomon Sarira in mount Ephraim; and he had three hundred chariots of horses: he built the citadel with the levies of the house of Ephraim; he fortified the city of David, and aspired to the kingdom. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Solomon sought to kill him; and he was afraid, and escaped to Susakim king of Egypt, and was with him until Solomon died. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | So king Solomon sleeps with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Roboam his son reigned in his stead in Jerusalem, being sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twelve years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Naaman, daughter of Ana son of Naas king of the children of Ammon. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked not in the way of David his father. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Then spoke Solomon concerning the house, when he had finished building it - He manifested the sun in the heaven: the Lord said he would dwell in darkness: build thou my house, a beautiful house for thyself to dwell in anew. Behold, is not this written in the book of the song? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And [there were made] the porches, and the nails, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the golden censers, of pure gold: and the panels of the doors of the innermost part of the house, [even] the holy of holies, and the golden doors of the temple. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | wide [enough] for the bars, so as to bear the altar with them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He made the pins of the tabernacle and the pins of the court of brass. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And they put the two golden rings on both the [upper] corners of the oracle; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the ephod opposite [each other] in front. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the emerald stones, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the incense, and the anointing oil, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | These are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Pharao hardened his heart, even on this occasion, and he would not send the people away. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | so Solomon the son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And he reigned over all the kings from the river and the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Solomon had forty thousand brood mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horses. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And these [were] the princes of Solomon; Azariu son of Sadoc the priest, and Orniu son of Nathan chief of the officers, and he went to his house; and Suba the scribe, and Basa son of Achithalam recorder, and Abi son of Joab commander-in-chief, and Achire son of Edrai [was] over the levies, and Banaeas son of Jodae over the household and over the brickwork, and Cachur the son of Nathan [was] counsellor. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he was at peace on all sides round about; and Juda and Israel dwelt safely, every one under his vine and under his fig tree, eating and drinking and feasting, from Dan even to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For he ruled in all the country on this side of the river, from Raphi unto Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the river: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he built Thermae in the wilderness. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And this was the daily provision of Solomon, thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of ground meal, ten choice calves, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides stags, and does, and choice fed birds. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Solomon began to open the domains of Libanus, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And king Solomon was very prudent and wise: and Juda and Israel [were] very many, as the sand which is by the sea for multitude, eating, and drinking, and rejoicing: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Solomon was chief in all the kingdoms, and they brought gifts, and served Solomon all the days of his life. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, He shall not be slain with the sword. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But now do not thou hold him guiltless, for thou [art] a man of understanding, and thou wilt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | he cursed me with a greivous curse in the day when I went into the camp; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And when David was yet living, he charged Solomon, saying, Behold, [there is] with thee Samei the son of Gera, of the seed of Benjamin out of Chebron: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Solomon offered up three whole burnt-offerings in the year, and peace-offerings on the alter which he built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord, and finished the house. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And these [are] the chief persons who presided over the works of Solomon; three thousand and six hundred masters of the people that wrought the works. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And he built Assur, and Magdo, and Gazer, and upper Baethoron, and Ballath: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | only after he had built the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about, afterwards he built these cities. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | thus the daughter of Pharao went up out of the city of David to her house which he built for her. Then he built the citadel; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Solomon made the sea, and the bases, and the great lavers, and the pillers, and the fountain of the court, and the brazen sea - and he built the citadel as a defence above it, he made a breach in the wall of the city of David; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and he took the daighter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and of the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. In seven years he made and finished them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and thou thyself sittest down to spend the nights in the open air among the corruption of worms, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and I am a wanderer and a servant from place to place and house to house, waiting for the setting of the sun, that I may rest from my labours and my pangs which now beset me; but say some word against the Lord, and die. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for, behold, thy memorial is abolished from the earth, [even your] sons and daughters, the pangs and pains of my womb which I bore in vain with sorrows; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Behold, I wait yet a little while, expecting the hope of my deliverance? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and [then] revolted from him. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | but [he] had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And Pharao Nechao bound him in Deblatha in the land of Aemath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the Lord said, I will even remove Juda also from my presence, as I have removed Israel, and I have rejected the city which I chose, [even] Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the anger of his fierce wrath, wherewith the Lord was greatly angry against Juda, for all the provocations wherewith Manasses provoked him: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | There was no [king] like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and all his soul, and all his strength, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there rose up none like him. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And king Josias burnt those who had in them a divining spirit, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and the sodomites which were in the land of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law that were written in the book which Chelcias the priest found in the house of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia: and his name before was Jobab; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon. And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over: first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba: but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job: and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman: and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab; and the name of his city was Gethaim. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The beginning of a good way is to do justly; and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness; and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | A son that keeps the commandment shall escape destruction; for [such an one] has fully received it. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let no falsehood be spoken by the king from the tongue; yes, let no falsehood proceed from his tongue. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The king's tongue is a sword, and not one of flesh; and whosoever shall be given up to [it] shall be destroyed: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for if his wrath should be provoked, he destroys men with cords, and devours men's bones, and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles. [My] son, reverence my words, and receive them, and repent. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | So that He will distinguish between the righteous and the sinner, [And] recompense the sinners for ever according to their deeds; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And have mercy on the righteous, [delivering him] from the affliction of the sinner, And recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to the righteous. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For the Lord is good to them that call upon Him in patience, Doing according to His mercy to His pious ones, Establishing [them] at all times before Him in strength. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed be the Lord for ever before His servants. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He falleth - verily grievous is his fall - and riseth no more. The destruction of the sinner is for ever, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And he shall not be remembered, when the righteous is visited. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | This is the portion of sinners for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal, And their life [shall be] in the light of the Lord, and shall come to an end no more. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are they that fear the Lord in their flawlessness; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord shall deliver them from guileful men and sinners, And deliver us from every stumbling-block of the lawless [men]. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let God destroy them that insolently work all unrighteousness, For a great and mighty judge is the Lord our God in righteousness. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that love Thee. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness, And hereby the blessing of the Lord [becomes] abundance with righteousness. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They that fear the Lord rejoice in good [gifts], And Your goodness is upon Israel in Your kingdom. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed is the glory of the Lord for He is our king. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | When his heart is at peace, he singeth to the name of his God, And he entreateth the Lord for all his house. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the Lord heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God, And every request of the soul that hopes for Him doth the Lord accomplish. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed is the Lord, who showeth mercy to those who love Him in sincerity. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For Your faithfulness is with us. And [though] we have stiffened our neck, yet You are our chastener; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Overlook us not, O our God, lest the nations swallow us up, as though there were none to deliver. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But You are our God from the beginning, And upon Thee is our hope [set], O Lord; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And we will not depart from Thee, For good are Your judgments upon us. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Ours and our children's be Your good pleasure for ever; O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgments with the mouth of His pious ones; And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He cleanseth from sins a soul when it maketh confession, when it maketh acknowledgement; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For shame is upon us and upon our faces on account of all these things. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And to whom doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for the sins that they have committed; And Your goodness is upon them that sin, when they repent. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And, now, You are our God, and we the people whom You have loved: Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we are Thine; And remove not Your mercy from us, lest they assail us. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For You didst choose the seed of Abraham before all the nations, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And didst set Your name upon us, O Lord, And You will not reject [us] for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You made a covenant with our fathers concerning us; And we hope in Thee, when our soul turneth [to Thee]. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The mercy of the Lord be upon the house of Israel for ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The salvation of the Lord be upon the house of Israel to everlasting gladness! | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The salvation of the Lord be upon Israel His servant for ever; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And let the sinners perish together at the presence of the Lord; But let the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For sins shall lay waste the houses of sinners. And sinners shall perish for ever in the day of the Lord's judgment, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | When God visiteth the earth with His judgment. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But they that fear the Lord shall find mercy therein, And shall live by the compassion of their God; But sinners shall perish for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth; He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | His words [shall be] more refined than costly gold, the choicest; In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | His words [shall be] like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed be they that shall be in those days, In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel! May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies! The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | In the fear of God [they pursue] their path every day, From the day God created them and for evermore. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And they have erred not since the day He created them. Since the generations of old they have not withdrawn from their path, Unless God commanded them [so to do] by the command of His servants. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | only begotten Son, Lord | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | we bless you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | we worship you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | we glorify you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and we thank you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for your great glory. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | MORNING HYMN. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Glory to God in the highest, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and on earth peace, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | good will to man. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | We praise you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the oath which he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF ZECHARIAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF SIMEON. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lord, now lettest you your servant depart in peace, according to your word; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for mine eyes have seen your salvation | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He has shown strength with his arm, he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | he has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted those of low degree; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | My soul magnifies the Lord, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Bless the Lord, spirits and souls of the righteous, sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF MARY THE GOD-BEARER. | |||

καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Bless the Lord, you heavens, sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Bless the Lord, you angels of the Lord, sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you upon the throne of your kingdom and to be extolled and highly exalted for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | HYMN TO OUR FATHER. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers, and to be praised and highly exalted for ever; And blessed is your glorious, holy name and to be highly praised and highly exalted for ever; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory and to be extolled and highly glorified for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, who sittest upon cherubim and look upon the deeps, and to be praised and highly exalted for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And now with all our heart we follow you, we fear you and seek your face. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Do not put us to shame, but deal with us in your forbearance and in your abundant mercy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Deliver us in accordance with your marvelous works, and give glory to your name, O Lord! Let all who do harm to your servants be put to shame; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | let them be disgraced and deprived of all power and dominion, and let their strength be broken. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let them know that you are the Lord, the only God, glorious over the whole world. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted, as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls, and with tens of thousands of fat lambs; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | such may our sacrifice be in your sight this day, and may we wholly follow you, for there will be no shame for those who trust in you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You have given us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful rebels, and to an unjust king, the most wicked in all the world. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And now we cannot open our mouths; shame and disgrace have befallen your servants and worshipers. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For your name's sake do not give us up utterly, and do not break your covenant, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and do not withdraw your mercy from us, for the sake of Abraham your beloved and for the sake of Isaac your servant and Israel your holy one, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | to whom you didst promise to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the shore of the sea. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation, and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And at this time there is no prince, or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, no place to make an offering before you or to find mercy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | So all that you have brought upon us, and all that you have done to us, you have done in true judgment. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | we have not observed them or done them, as you have commanded us that it might go well with us. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For you are just in all that you have done to us, and all your works are true and your ways right, and all your judgments are truth. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You have executed true judgments in all that you have brought upon us and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers, for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from you, and have sinned in all things and have not obeyed your commandments; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF AZARIAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers, and worthy of praise; and your name is glorified for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF MANASSE. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and I will not cease blessing you with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For they that are in the grave shall not praise you, neither shall the dead bless you, neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The living shall bless you, as I also [do]: for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare your righteousness, O God of my salvation; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and removed the sorrow of my soul. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | [Yea], O Lord, for it was told you concerning this; and you have revived my breath; and I am comforted, and live. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish: and you have cast all [my] sins behind me. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | As a swallow, so will I cry, and as a dove, so do I mourn: for mine eyes have failed with looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | [My life] has failed from among my kindred: I have parted with the remainder of my life: it has gone forth and departed from me, as one that having pitched a tent takes it down [again]: my breath was with me as a weaver's web, when she that weaves draws nigh to cut off [the] thread. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning: so has he broken all my bones: for I was so given up from day [even] to night. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I said, I shall no more at all see the salvation of God in the land of the living: I shall no more at all see the salvation of Israel on the earth: I shall no more at all see man. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF HEZEKIAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I shall part with the remainder of my years. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | yet I will exult in the Lord, I will joy in God my Saviour. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord God is my strength, and he will perfectly strengthen my feet; he mounts me upon high places, that I may conquer by his song. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For [though] the fig-tree shall bear no fruit, and there shall be no produce on the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall produce no food: the sheep have failed from the pasture, and there are no oxen at the cribs; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips, and trembling entered into my bones, and my frame was troubled within me; I will rest in the day of affliction, from going up to the people of my sojourning. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And you dost cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You didst cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it; they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed: you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors; you has brought bands upon [their] neck. Pause. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course: your darts shall go forth at the light, at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You will bring low the land with threatening, and in wrath you will break down the nations. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or [was] your wrath against the rivers, or your anger against the sea? for you will mount on your horses, and your chariots are salvation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Surely you didst bend they bow at scepters, says the Lord. Pause. The land of rivers shall be torn asunder. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The nations shall see you and be in pain, [as you dost] divide the moving waters: the deep uttered her voice, and raised her form on high. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians: the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Before his face shall go a report, and it shall go forth into the plains, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the earth stood at his feet and trembled: he beheld, and the nations melted away: the mountains were violently burst through, the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And his brightness shall be as light; [there were] horns in his hands, and he caused a mighty love of his strength. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | God shall come from Thaeman, and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan. Pause. His excellence covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF HABAKKUK. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid: I considered your works, and was amazed: you shall be known between the two living creatures, you shall be acknowledged when the years draw nigh; you shall be manifested when the time is come; when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord; and may my prayer come to you into your holy temple. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of praise and thanksgiving: all that I have vowed I will pay to you, the Lord of [my] salvation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers: yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Water was poured around me to the soul: the lowest deep compassed me, my head went down to the clefts of the mountains; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea, and the floods compassed me: all your billows and your waves have passed upon me. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And I said, I am cast out of your presence: shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF JONAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God, and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell: you heard my voice. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Go, my people, enter into your closets, shut your door, hide yourself for a little season, until the anger of the Lord have passed away. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised, and they that are in the earth shall rejoice: for the dew from you is healing to them: but the land of the ungodly shall perish. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain; so have we been to your beloved. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain, and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth: we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Bring more evils upon them, O Lord; bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lord, in affliction I remembered you; your chastening was to us with small affliction. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | O Lord our God, give us peace: for you have rendered to us all things. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | O Lord our God, take possession of us: O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | But he dead shall not see life, neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up: therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not: but when they know they shall be ashamed: jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF ISAIAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God, for your commandments are a light on the earth: learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For the ungodly one is put down: no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth: let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For these things have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Woe [to them] that join house to house, and add field to field, that they may take away something of their neighbor's: will you dwell alone upon the land? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And I will forsake my vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug, and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land; and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Juda [his] beloved plant: I expected [it] to bring forth judgement, and it brought forth iniquity; and not righteousness, but a cry. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | What shall I do any more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it? Whereas I expected [it] to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil; and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be [left] to be trodden down. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And now, you dwellers in Jerusalem, and [every] man of Juda, judge between me and my vineyard. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench, and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine-vat in it: and I waited [for it] to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | SONG OF ISAIAH. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Now I will sing to [my] beloved a song of my beloved concerning my vineyard. [My] beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord will weaken his adversary; the Lord [is] holy. And she left him there before the Lord, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | granting his petition to him that prays; and he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises the needy from the dunghill; to seat him with the princes of the people, and causing them to inherit the throne of glory: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord makes poor, and makes rich; he brings low, and lifts up. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord kills and makes alive; he brings down to the grave, and brings up. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble, and the weak have girded themselves with strength. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They that were full of bread are brought low; and the hungry have forsaken the land; for the barren has born seven, and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Boast not, and utter not high things; let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth, for the Lord [is] a God of knowledge, and God prepares his own designs. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | My heart is established in the Lord, my horn is exalted in my God; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, I have rejoiced in your salvation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For there is none holy as the Lord, and there is none righteous as our God; there is none holy besides you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | PRAYER OF HANNA THE MOTHER OF SAMUEL. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Rejoice, you heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice you Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall purge the land of his people. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I will make my weapons drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, [it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded, and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For I will sharpen my sword like lightning, and my hand shall take hold of judgment; and I will render judgment to my enemies, and will recompense them that hate me. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For I will lift up my hand to heaven, and swear by my right hand, and I will say, I live for ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Behold, behold that I am [he], and there is no god beside me: I kill, and I will make to live: I will smite, and I will heal; and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the fat of whose sacrifices you ate, and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings? let them arise and help you, and be your protectors. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and the Lord said, Where are their gods on whom they trusted? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For the Lord shall judge his people, and shall be comforted over his servants; for he saw that they were utterly weakened, and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | In the day of vengeance I will recompense, whenever their foot shall be tripped up; for the day of their destruction [is] near to them, and the judgments at hand are close upon you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lo! are not these things stored up by me, and sealed among my treasures? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Their wine [is] the rage of serpents, and the incurable rage of asps. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, and their vine-branch of Gomorrha: their grape [is] a grape of gall, their cluster [is] one of bitterness. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For their gods are not as our God, but our enemies [are] void of understanding. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | How should one pursue a thousand, and two rout tens of thousands, if God had not sold them, and the Lord delivered them up? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They had not sense to understand: let them reserve these things against the time to come. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | It is a nation that has lost counsel, neither is there understanding in them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long, lest their enemies should combine against them; lest they should say, Our own high arm, and not the Lord, has done all these things. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I said, I will scatter them, and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Without, the sword shall bereave them of children, and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers; the young man shall perish with the virgin, the suckling with him who has grown old. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | [They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds, and there shall be irremediable destruction: I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts, with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I will gather evils upon them, and will fight with my weapons against them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath, it shall burn to hell below; it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it; it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God, they have exasperated me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and said, I will turn away my face from them, and will show what shall happen to them in the last days; for it is a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faith. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And the Lord saw, and was jealous; and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You have forsaken God that begot you, and forgotten God who feeds you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They sacrificed to devils, and not to God; to gods whom they knew not: new and fresh [gods] came in, whom their fathers knew not. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They provoked me to anger with strange gods; with their abominations they bitterly angered me. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | So Jacob ate and was filled, and the beloved one kicked; he grew fat, he became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Saviour. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Butter of cows, and milk of sheep, with the fat of lambs and rams, of calves and kids, with fat of kidneys of wheat; and he drank wine, the blood of the grape. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He brought them up on the strength of the land; he fed them with the fruits of the fields; they sucked honey out of the rock, and oil out of the solid rock. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the Lord alone led them, there was no strange god with them. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | As an eagle would watch over his brood, and yearns over his young, receives them having spread his wings, and takes them up on his back: | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He maintained him in the wilderness, in burning thirst and a dry land: he led him about and instructed him, and kept him as the apple of an eye. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord, Israel was the line of his inheritance. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the angels of God. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Remember the days of old, consider the years for past ages: ask your father, and he shall relate to you, your elders, and they shall tell you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Do you thus recompense the Lord? [is the] people thus foolish and unwise? did not he himself your father purchase you, and make you, and form you? | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | They have sinned, not [pleasing] him; spotted children, a froward and perverse generation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | [As for God], his works [are] true, and all his ways [are] judgment: God [is] faithful, and there is no unrighteousness [in him]; just and holy [is] the Lord. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For I have called on the name of the Lord: assign you greatness to our God. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let my speech be looked for as the rain, and my words come down as dew, as the shower upon the herbage, and as snow upon the grass. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Attend, O heaven, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | SONG OF MOSES IN DEUTERONOMY. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea, but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance, in your prepared habitation, which you, O Lord, have prepared; the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made ready. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let trembling and fear fall upon them; by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone; till your people pass over, O Lord, till this your people pass over, whom you have purchased. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Then the princes of Edom, and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted; trembling took hold upon them, all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The nations heard and were angry, pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You have guided in your righteousness this your people whom you have redeemed, by your strength you have called them into your holy resting-place. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You stretched forth your right hand, the earth swallowed them up. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you? glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I will satisfy my soul, I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder; the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces: you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Your right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength; thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He covered them with the sea: they sank to the depth like a stone. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea, the chosen mounted captains: they were swallowed up in the Red Sea. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | The Lord bringing wars to nought, the Lord [is] his name. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | He was to me a helper and protector for salvation: this is my God and I will glorify him; my father's God, and I will exalt him. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified: horse and rider he has thrown into the sea. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | SONG OF MOSES IN EXODUS. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lord God, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the Lamb of God, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | the Son of the Father | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | who take away the sin of the world, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | have mercy on us, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | who take away the sins of the world. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Accept our supplication, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | you who sit at the right of the Father, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | have mercy on us. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For you are the only Holy One, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | you are the only Lord, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Jesus Christ, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | to the glory of God the Father. Amen. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Every evening I shall bless you, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and I shall praise your name forever, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and to the centuries of centuries. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Grant, O Lord, that in this night | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | we may be kept without sin. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our Fathers, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Blessed are you, O Lord, teach me your rules of life. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | I have said: Lord, have mercy on me, | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | heal my soul for I have sinned against you. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Lord, to you I have fled; | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | teach me to do your will for you are my God. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | For with you is the fountain of life;. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | in your light we shall see light. | |||
καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ χρίσματος | Extend your mercy to those who know you. | |||
καὶ τὴν τράπεζαν καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς | and the table and all its furniture, | the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence; | אֶת־הַשֻּׁלְחָן וְאֶת־בַּדָּיו וְאֶת־כָּל־כֵּלָיו וְאֵת לֶחֶם הַפָּנִים׃ | 13 |

καὶ ἐξῆλθεν πᾶσα συναγωγὴ υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἀπὸ Μωυσῆ | And all the congregation of the children of Israel went out from Moses. And they brought, they whose heart prompted them, and they to whomsoever it seemed good in their mind, each and offering: | The people bring their offerings. Ex.35.20-29 | Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. | וַיֵּצְאוּ כָּל־עֲדַת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל מִלִּפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה׃ | 20
