| 3 | καὶ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς Ισραηλ καὶ παρέδωκεν τὸν Χανανιν ὑποχείριον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισεν αὐτὸν καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπεκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Ἀνάθεμα. | And the Lord listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered the Chananite into his power; and [Israel] devoted him and his cities, and they called the name of that place Anathema. | And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and gave over the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities; so the name of the place was called Hormah. | וַיִּשְׁמַע יְהוָה בְּקֹול יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתֵּן אֶת־הַכְּנַעֲנִי וַיַּחֲרֵם אֶתְהֶם וְאֶת־עָרֵיהֶם וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם־הַמָּקֹום חָרְמָה׃ ף | 3 | |
| 4 | Καὶ ἀπάραντες ἐξ Ωρ τοῦ ὄρους ὁδὸν ἐπὶ θάλασσαν ἐρυθρὰν περιεκύκλωσαν γῆν Εδωμ· καὶ ὠλιγοψύχησεν ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ. | And having departed from mount Or by the way [leading] to the Red Sea, they compassed the land of Edom, and the people lost courage by the way. | The brazen serpent. | 5 | καὶ κατελάλει ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ κατὰ Μωυσῆ λέγοντες Ἵνα τί ἐξήγαγες ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἀποκτεῖναι ἡμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ; ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἄρτος οὐδὲ ὕδωρ, ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν προσώχθισεν ἐν τῷ ἄρτῳ τῷ διακένῳ. | And the people spoke against God and against Moses, saying, Why is this? Have you brought us ought of Egypt to slay us in the wilderness? for there is not bread nor water; and our soul loathes this light bread. | And the people spoke against God and against Moses, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? | 7 | καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἡμάρτομεν ὅτι κατελαλήσαμεν κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ κατὰ σοῦ· εὖξαι οὖν πρὸς κύριον, καὶ ἀφελέτω ἀφ' ἡμῶν τὸν ὄφιν. καὶ ηὔξατο Μωϋσῆς πρὸς κύριον περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ. | And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against you: pray therefore to the Lord, and let him take away the serpent from us. | And the people came to Moses, and said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you; pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us." | 8 | καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Ποίησον σεαυτῷ ὄφιν καὶ θὲς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου, καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν δάκῃ ὄφις ἄνθρωπον, πᾶς ὁ δεδηγμένος ἰδὼν αὐτὸν ζήσεται. | And Moses prayed to the Lord for the people; and the Lord said to Moses, Make you a serpent, and put it on a signal-[staff]; and it shall come to pass that whenever a serpent shall bite a man, every one [so] bitten that looks upon it shall live. | And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live." | וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה עֲשֵׂה לְךָ שָׂרָף וְשִׂים אֹתֹו עַל־נֵס וְהָיָה כָּל־הַנָּשׁוּךְ וְרָאָה אֹתֹו וָחָי׃ | 8 | |
| 9 | καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωϋσῆς ὄφιν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου, καὶ ἐγένετο ὅταν ἔδακνεν ὄφις ἄνθρωπον, καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὸν ὄφιν τὸν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔζη. | And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a signa-[staff]: and it came to pass that whenever a serpent bit a man, and he looked on the brazen serpent, he lived. | So Moses made a bronze serpent, and set it on a pole; and if a serpent bit any man, he would look at the bronze serpent and live. | וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה נְחַשׁ נְחֹשֶׁת וַיְשִׂמֵהוּ עַל־הַנֵּס וְהָיָה אִם־נָשַׁךְ הַנָּחָשׁ אֶת־אִישׁ וְהִבִּיט אֶל־נְחַשׁ הַנְּחֹשֶׁת וָחָי׃ | 9 | |

| 11 | καὶ ἐξάραντες ἐξ Ωβωθ παρενέβαλον ἐν Αχελγαι ἐκ τοῦ πέραν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μωαβ κατὰ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου. | And having departed from Oboth, they encamped in Achalgai, on the farther side in the wilderness, which is opposite Moab, toward the east. | And they set out from Oboth, and encamped at I'ye-ab'arim, in the wilderness which is opposite Moab, toward the sunrise. | וַיִּסְעוּ מֵאֹבֹת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעִיֵּי הָעֲבָרִים בַּמִּדְבָּר אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי מֹואָב מִמִּזְרַח הַשָּׁמֶשׁ׃ | 11 | |

| 13 | καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀπάραντες παρενέβαλον εἰς τὸ πέραν Αρνων ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ ἐξέχον ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Αμορραίων· ἔστιν γὰρ Αρνων ὅρια Μωαβ ἀνὰ μέσον Μωαβ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ Αμορραίου. | And they departed thence and encamped on the other side of Arnon in the wilderness, [the country] which extends from the coasts of the Amorites; for Arnon is the borders of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. | From there they set out, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that extends from the boundary of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the boundary of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. | מִשָּׁם נָסָעוּ וַיַּחֲנוּ מֵעֵבֶר אַרְנֹון אֲשֶׁר בַּמִּדְבָּר הַיֹּצֵא מִגְּבוּל הָאֱמֹרִי כִּי אַרְנֹון גְּבוּל מֹואָב בֵּין מֹואָב וּבֵין הָאֱמֹרִי׃ | 13 | |

Therefore it is said in a book, A war of the Lord has set on fire Zoob, and the brooks of Arnon. | Wherefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD, and the valleys of the Arnon, | עַל־כֵּן יֵאָמַר בְּסֵפֶר מִלְחֲמֹת יְהוָה

| 15 | καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους κατέστησεν κατοικίσαι Ηρ καὶ πρόσκειται τοῖς ὁρίοις Μωαβ. |
And he has appointed brooks to cause Er to dwell [there]; and it lies near to the coasts of Moab. | and the slope of the valleys that extends to the seat of Ar, and leans to the border of Moab." | וְאֶשֶׁד הַנְּחָלִים אֲשֶׁר נָטָה לְשֶׁבֶת עָר וְנִשְׁעַן לִגְבוּל מֹואָב׃ | 15 | |
| 16 | καὶ ἐκεῖθεν τὸ φρέαρ· τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ φρέαρ, ὃ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Συνάγαγε τὸν λαόν, καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ πιεῖν. | And thence [they came to] the well; this [is] the well of which the Lord said to Moses, Gather the people, and I will give them water to drink. | And from there they continued to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, "Gather the people together, and I will give them water." | וּמִשָּׁם בְּאֵרָה הִוא הַבְּאֵר אֲשֶׁר אָמַר יְהוָה לְמֹשֶׁה אֱסֹף אֶת־הָעָם וְאֶתְּנָה לָהֶם מָיִם׃ ס | 16 | |

| 18 | φρέαρ, ὤρυξαν αὐτὸ ἄρχοντες, ἐξελατόμησαν αὐτὸ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτῶν, ἐν τῷ κυριεῦσαι αὐτῶν. καὶ ἀπὸ φρέατος εἰς Μανθαναιν· |
the princes digged it, the kings of the nations in their kingdom, in their lordship sank it in the rock: and [they went] from the well to Manthanain, | the well which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people delved with the scepter and with their staves." And from the wilderness they went on to Mat'tanah, | בְּאֵר חֲפָרוּהָ שָׂרִים כָּרוּהָ נְדִיבֵי הָעָם בִּמְחֹקֵק בְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָם וּמִמִּדְבָּר מַתָּנָה׃ |

| 19 | καὶ ἀπὸ Μανθαναιν εἰς Νααλιηλ· καὶ ἀπὸ Νααλιηλ εἰς Βαμωθ· | and from Manthanain to Naaliel, and from Naaliel to Bamoth, and from Bamoth to Janen, which is in the plain of Moab [as seen] from the top of the quarried [rock] that looks toward the wilderness. | and from Mat'tanah to Nahal'iel, and from Nahal'iel to Bamoth, | וּמִמַּתָּנָה נַחֲלִיאֵל וּמִנַּחֲלִיאֵל בָּמֹות׃ | 19 | |

| 23 | καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν Σηων τῷ Ισραηλ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνήγαγεν Σηων πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν παρατάξασθαι τῷ Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς Ιασσα καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ Ισραηλ. | And Seon did not allow Israel to pass through his borders, and Seon gathered all his people, and went out to set the battle in array against Israel into the wilderness; and he came to Jassa, and set the battle in array against Israel. | But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. | 24 | καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Ισραηλ φόνῳ μαχαίρης καὶ κατεκυρίευσαν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Αρνων ἕως Ιαβοκ ἕως υἱῶν Αμμαν· ὅτι Ιαζηρ ὅρια υἱῶν Αμμων ἐστίν. | And Israel smote him with the slaughter of the sword, and they became possessors of his land, from Arnon to Jaboc, as far as the children of Amman, for Jazer is the borders of the children of Amman. | And Israel slew him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as to the Ammonites; for Jazer was the boundary of the Ammonites. | וַיַּכֵּהוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לְפִי־חָרֶב וַיִּירַשׁ אֶת־אַרְצֹו מֵאַרְןֹן עַד־יַבֹּק עַד־בְּנֵי עַמֹּון כִּי עַז גְּבוּל בְּנֵי עַמֹּון׃ | 24 | |
| 25 | καὶ ἔλαβεν Ισραηλ πάσας τὰς πόλεις ταύτας, καὶ κατῴκησεν Ισραηλ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν τῶν Αμορραίων, ἐν Εσεβων καὶ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς συγκυρούσαις αὐτῇ. | And Israel took all their cities, and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Esebon, and in all cities belonging to it. | And Israel took all these cities, and Israel settled in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages. | וַיִּקַּח יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵת כָּל־הֶעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וַיֵּשֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּכָל־עָרֵי הָאֱמֹרִי בְּחֶשְׁבֹּון וּבְכָל־בְּנֹתֶיהָ׃ | 25 | |
| 26 | ἔστιν γὰρ Εσεβων πόλις Σηων τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν Αμορραίων, καὶ οὗτος ἐπολέμησεν βασιλέα Μωαβ τὸ πρότερον καὶ ἔλαβον πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Αροηρ ἕως Αρνων. | For Esebon is the city of Seon king of the Amorites; and he before fought against the king of Moab, and they took all his land, from Aroer to Arnon. | For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and taken all his land out of his hand, as far as the Arnon. | כִּי חֶשְׁבֹּון עִיר סִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי הִוא וְהוּא נִלְחַם בְּמֶלֶךְ מֹואָב הָרִאשֹׁון וַיִּקַּח אֶת־כָּל־אַרְצֹו מִיָּדֹו עַד־אַרְןֹן׃ | 26 | |
| 27 | διὰ τοῦτο ἐροῦσιν οἱ αἰνιγματισταί ἵνα οἰκοδομηθῇ καὶ κατασκευασθῇ πόλις Σηων. |
Therefore say they who deal in dark speeches, Come to Esebon, that the city of Seon may be built and prepared. | Therefore the ballad singers say, let the city of Sihon be established. | עַל־כֵּן יֹאמְרוּ הַמֹּשְׁלִים

For a fire has gone forth from Esebon, a flame from the city of Seon, and has consumed as far as Moab, and devoured the pillars of Arnon. | For fire went forth from Heshbon, flame from the city of Sihon. It devoured Ar of Moab, the lords of the heights of the Arnon. | כִּי־אֵשׁ יָצְאָה מֵחֶשְׁבֹּון לֶהָבָה מִקִּרְיַת סִיחֹן אָכְלָה עָר מֹואָב בַּעֲלֵי בָּמֹות אַרְןֹן׃ |

| 29 | οὐαί σοι, Μωαβ· ἀπώλου, λαὸς Χαμως. ἀπεδόθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν διασῴζεσθαι καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτῶν αἰχμάλωτοι τῷ βασιλεῖ τῶν Αμορραίων Σηων· |
Woe to you, Moab; you are lost, you people of Chamos: their sons are sold for preservation, and their daughters are captives to Seon king of the Amorites. | Woe to you, O Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh! He has made his sons fugitives, and his daughters captives, to an Amorite king, Sihon. | אֹוי־לְךָ מֹואָב אָבַדְתָּ עַם־כְּמֹושׁ נָתַן בָּנָיו פְּלֵיטִם וּבְנֹתָיו בַּשְּׁבִית לְמֶלֶךְ אֱמֹרִי סִיחֹון׃ |

And their seed shall perish [from] Esebon to Daebon; and their women have yet farther kindled a fire against Moab. | So their posterity perished from Heshbon, as far as Dibon, and we laid waste until fire spread to Med'eba." | וַנִּירָם אָבַד חֶשְׁבֹּון עַד־דִּיבֹון וַנַּשִּׁים עַד־נֹפַח אֲשֶׁר עַד־מֵידְבָא׃ |

| 34 | καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν Μὴ φοβηθῇς αὐτόν, ὅτι εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου παραδέδωκα αὐτὸν καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ποιήσεις αὐτῷ καθὼς ἐποίησας τῷ Σηων βασιλεῖ τῶν Αμορραίων, ὃς κατῴκει ἐν Εσεβων. | And the Lord said to Moses, Fear him not; for I have delivered him and all his people, and all his land, into your hands; and you shall do to him as you did to Seon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Esebon. | But the LORD said to Moses, "Do not fear him; for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon." | וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה אַל־תִּירָא אֹתֹו כִּי בְיָדְךָ נָתַתִּי אֹתֹו וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמֹּו וְאֶת־אַרְצֹו וְעָשִׂיתָ לֹּו כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתָ לְסִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר יֹושֵׁב בְּחֶשְׁבֹּון׃ | 34 | |
| 35 | καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἕως τοῦ μὴ καταλιπεῖν αὐτοῦ ζωγρείαν· καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν. | And he smote him and his sons, and all his people, until he left none of his to be taken alive; and they inherited his land. | So they slew him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was not one survivor left to him; and they possessed his land. | וַיַּכּוּ אֹתֹו וְאֶת־בָּנָיו וְאֶת־כָּל־עַמֹּו עַד־בִּלְתִּי הִשְׁאִיר־לֹו שָׂרִיד וַיִּירְשׁוּ אֶת־אַרְצֹו׃ | 35 | |
