1Καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σινα λέγων The Sabbatical Year. Lv.25.1-7 | Dt.15.1-11The LORD said to Moses on Mount Sinai,וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה בְּהַר סִינַי לֵאמֹר׃ 1
2Λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Ἑὰν εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν, καὶ ἀναπαύσεται ἡ γῆ, ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν, σάββατα τῷ κυρίῳ.  "Say to the people of Israel, When you come into the land which I give you, the land shall keep a sabbath to the LORD.דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי תָבֹאוּ אֶל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נֹתֵן לָכֶם וְשָׁבְתָה הָאָרֶץ שַׁבָּת לַיהוָה׃ 2
3ἓξ ἔτη σπερεῖς τὸν ἀγρόν σου καὶ ἓξ ἔτη τεμεῖς τὴν ἄμπελόν σου καὶ συνάξεις τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς.  Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather in its fruits;שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים תִּזְרַע שָׂדֶךָ וְשֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים תִּזְמֹר כַּרְמֶךָ וְאָסַפְתָּ אֶת־תְּבוּאָתָהּ׃ 3
4τῷ δὲ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ σάββατα ἀνάπαυσις ἔσται τῇ γῇ, σάββατα τῷ κυρίῳ· τὸν ἀγρόν σου οὐ σπερεῖς καὶ τὴν ἄμπελόν σου οὐ τεμεῖς  but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD; you shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.וּבַשָּׁנָה הַשְּׁבִיעִת שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתֹון יִהְיֶה לָאָרֶץ שַׁבָּת לַיהוָה שָׂדְךָ לֹא תִזְרָע וְכַרְמְךָ לֹא תִזְמֹר׃ 4
5καὶ τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα τοῦ ἀγροῦ σου οὐκ ἐκθερίσεις καὶ τὴν σταφυλὴν τοῦ ἁγιάσματός σου οὐκ ἐκτρυγήσεις· ἐνιαυτὸς ἀναπαύσεως ἔσται τῇ γῇ.  What grows of itself in your harvest you shall not reap, and the grapes of your undressed vine you shall not gather; it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.אֵת סְפִיחַ קְצִירְךָ לֹא תִקְצֹור וְאֶת־עִנְּבֵי נְזִירֶךָ לֹא תִבְצֹר שְׁנַת שַׁבָּתֹון יִהְיֶה לָאָרֶץ׃ 5
6καὶ ἔσται τὰ σάββατα τῆς γῆς βρώματά σοι καὶ τῷ παιδί σου καὶ τῇ παιδίσκῃ σου καὶ τῷ μισθωτῷ σου καὶ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ προσκειμένῳ πρὸς σέ,  The sabbath of the land shall provide food for you, for yourself and for your male and female slaves and for your hired servant and the sojourner who lives with you;וְהָיְתָה שַׁבַּת הָאָרֶץ לָכֶם לְאָכְלָה לְךָ וּלְעַבְדְּךָ וְלַאֲמָתֶךָ וְלִשְׂכִירְךָ וּלְתֹושָׁבְךָ הַגָּרִים עִמָּךְ׃ 6
7καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσίν σου καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τοῖς ἐν τῇ γῇ σου ἔσται πᾶν τὸ γένημα αὐτοῦ εἰς βρῶσιν.  for your cattle also and for the beasts that are in your land all its yield shall be for food.וְלִבְהֶמְתְּךָ וְלַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר בְּאַרְצֶךָ תִּהְיֶה כָל־תְּבוּאָתָהּ לֶאֱכֹל׃ ס 7
8Καὶ ἐξαριθμήσεις σεαυτῷ ἑπτὰ ἀναπαύσεις ἐτῶν, ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἑπτάκις, καὶ ἔσονταί σοι ἑπτὰ ἑβδομάδες ἐτῶν ἐννέα καὶ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη. The Year of Jubilee. Lv.25.8-17"And you shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall be to you forty-nine years.וְסָפַרְתָּ לְךָ שֶׁבַע שַׁבְּתֹת שָׁנִים שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים וְהָיוּ לְךָ יְמֵי שֶׁבַע שַׁבְּתֹת הַשָּׁנִים תֵּשַׁע וְאַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה׃ 8
9καὶ διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγος φωνῇ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνός· τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ ἱλασμοῦ διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγι ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν  Then you shall send abroad the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land.וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ שֹׁופַר תְּרוּעָה בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִעִי בֶּעָשֹׂור לַחֹדֶשׁ בְּיֹום הַכִּפֻּרִים תַּעֲבִירוּ שֹׁופָר בְּכָל־אַרְצְכֶם׃ 9
10καὶ ἁγιάσετε τὸ ἔτος τὸ πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ διαβοήσετε ἄφεσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν αὐτήν· ἐνιαυτὸς ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη ἔσται ὑμῖν, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἷς ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ ἀπελεύσεσθε.  And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants; it shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his family.וְקִדַּשְׁתֶּם אֵת שְׁנַת הַחֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה וּקְרָאתֶם דְּרֹור בָּאָרֶץ לְכָל־יֹשְׁבֶיהָ יֹובֵל הִוא תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם וְשַׁבְתֶּם אִישׁ אֶל־אֲחֻזָּתֹו וְאִישׁ אֶל־מִשְׁפַּחְתֹּו תָּשֻׁבוּ׃ 10
11ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη, τὸ ἔτος τὸ πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸς ἔσται ὑμῖν· οὐ σπερεῖτε οὐδὲ ἀμήσετε τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα αὐτῆς καὶ οὐ τρυγήσετε τὰ ἡγιασμένα αὐτῆς,  A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; in it you shall neither sow, nor reap what grows of itself, nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines.יֹובֵל הִוא שְׁנַת הַחֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם לֹא תִזְרָעוּ וְלֹא תִקְצְרוּ אֶת־סְפִיחֶיהָ וְלֹא תִבְצְרוּ אֶת־נְזִרֶיהָ׃ 11
12ὅτι ἀφέσεως σημασία ἐστίν, ἅγιον ἔσται ὑμῖν, ἀπὸ τῶν πεδίων φάγεσθε τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς.  For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat what it yields out of the field.כִּי יֹובֵל הִוא קֹדֶשׁ תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה תֹּאכְלוּ אֶת־תְּבוּאָתָהּ׃ 12
13Ἑν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως σημασίᾳ αὐτῆς ἐπανελεύσεται ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ.  "In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property.בִּשְׁנַת הַיֹּובֵל הַזֹּאת תָּשֻׁבוּ אִישׁ אֶל־אֲחֻזָּתֹו׃ 13
14ἐὰν δὲ ἀποδῷ πρᾶσιν τῷ πλησίον σου ἐὰν καὶ κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον σου, μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον·  And if you sell to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor, you shall not wrong one another.וְכִי־תִמְכְּרוּ מִמְכָּר לַעֲמִיתֶךָ אֹו קָנֹה מִיַּד עֲמִיתֶךָ אַל־תֹּונוּ אִישׁ אֶת־אָחִיו׃ 14
15κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐτῶν μετὰ τὴν σημασίαν κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον, κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐνιαυτῶν γενημάτων ἀποδώσεταί σοι.  According to the number of years after the jubilee, you shall buy from your neighbor, and according to the number of years for crops he shall sell to you.בְּמִסְפַּר שָׁנִים אַחַר הַיֹּובֵל תִּקְנֶה מֵאֵת עֲמִיתֶךָ בְּמִסְפַּר שְׁנֵי־תְבוּאֹת יִמְכָּר־לָךְ׃ 15
16καθότι ἂν πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν, πληθύνῃ τὴν ἔγκτησιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ καθότι ἂν ἔλαττον τῶν ἐτῶν, ἐλαττονώσῃ τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ· ὅτι ἀριθμὸν γενημάτων αὐτοῦ οὕτως ἀποδώσεταί σοι.  If the years are many you shall increase the price, and if the years are few you shall diminish the price, for it is the number of the crops that he is selling to you.לְפִי רֹב הַשָּׁנִים תַּרְבֶּה מִקְנָתֹו וּלְפִי מְעֹט הַשָּׁנִים תַּמְעִיט מִקְנָתֹו כִּי מִסְפַּר תְּבוּאֹת הוּא מֹכֵר לָךְ׃ 16
17μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον καὶ φοβηθήσῃ κύριον τὸν θεόν σου· ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν.  You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.וְלֹא תֹונוּ אִישׁ אֶת־עֲמִיתֹו וְיָרֵאתָ מֵאֱלֹהֶיךָ כִּי אֲנִי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃ 17
18καὶ ποιήσετε πάντα τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ πάσας τὰς κρίσεις μου καὶ φυλάξασθε καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὰ καὶ κατοικήσετε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πεποιθότες· Abundance for the Sabbatical year. Lv.25.18-22"Therefore you shall do my statutes, and keep my ordinances and perform them; so you will dwell in the land securely.וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַי תִּשְׁמְרוּ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם וִישַׁבְתֶּם עַל־הָאָרֶץ לָבֶטַח׃ 18
19καὶ δώσει ἡ γῆ τὰ ἐκφόρια αὐτῆς, καὶ φάγεσθε εἰς πλησμονὴν καὶ κατοικήσετε πεποιθότες ἐπ' αὐτῆς.  The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill, and dwell in it securely.וְנָתְנָה הָאָרֶץ פִּרְיָהּ וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לָשֹׂבַע וִישַׁבְתֶּם לָבֶטַח עָלֶיהָ׃ 19
20ἐὰν δὲ λέγητε Τί φαγόμεθα ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τούτῳ, ἐὰν μὴ σπείρωμεν μηδὲ συναγάγωμεν τὰ γενήματα ἡμῶν;  And if you say, 'What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we may not sow or gather in our crop?'וְכִי תֹאמְרוּ מַה־נֹּאכַל בַּשָּׁנָה הַשְּׁבִיעִת הֵן לֹא נִזְרָע וְלֹא נֶאֱסֹף אֶת־תְּבוּאָתֵנוּ׃ 20
21καὶ ἀποστελῶ τὴν εὐλογίαν μου ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἕκτῳ, καὶ ποιήσει τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς εἰς τὰ τρία ἔτη.  I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, so that it will bring forth fruit for three years.וְצִוִּיתִי אֶת־בִּרְכָתִי לָכֶם בַּשָּׁנָה הַשִּׁשִּׁית וְעָשָׂת אֶת־הַתְּבוּאָה לִשְׁלֹשׁ הַשָּׁנִים׃ 21
22καὶ σπερεῖτε τὸ ἔτος τὸ ὄγδοον καὶ φάγεσθε ἀπὸ τῶν γενημάτων παλαιά· ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τοῦ ἐνάτου, ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ τὸ γένημα αὐτῆς, φάγεσθε παλαιὰ παλαιῶν.  When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating old produce; until the ninth year, when its produce comes in, you shall eat the old.וּזְרַעְתֶּם אֵת הַשָּׁנָה הַשְּׁמִינִת וַאֲכַלְתֶּם מִן־הַתְּבוּאָה יָשָׁן עַד הַשָּׁנָה הַתְּשִׁיעִת עַד־בֹּוא תְּבוּאָתָהּ תֹּאכְלוּ יָשָׁן׃ 22
23καὶ ἡ γῆ οὐ πραθήσεται εἰς βεβαίωσιν, ἐμὴ γάρ ἐστιν ἡ γῆ, διότι προσήλυτοι καὶ πάροικοι ὑμεῖς ἐστε ἐναντίον μου·  The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with me.וְהָאָרֶץ לֹא תִמָּכֵר לִצְמִתֻת כִּי־לִי הָאָרֶץ כִּי־גֵרִים וְתֹושָׁבִים אַתֶּם עִמָּדִי׃ 23
24καὶ κατὰ πᾶσαν γῆν κατασχέσεως ὑμῶν λύτρα δώσετε τῆς γῆς. -  And in all the country you possess, you shall grant a redemption of the land.וּבְכֹל אֶרֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶם גְּאֻלָּה תִּתְּנוּ לָאָרֶץ׃ ס 24
25ἐὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σου ὁ μετὰ σοῦ καὶ ἀποδῶται ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων ἐγγίζων ἔγγιστα αὐτοῦ, καὶ λυτρώσεται τὴν πρᾶσιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ. Restoration of property. Lv.25.25-34"If your brother becomes poor, and sells part of his property, then his next of kin shall come and redeem what his brother has sold.כִּי־יָמוּךְ אָחִיךָ וּמָכַר מֵאֲחֻזָּתֹו וּבָא גֹאֲלֹו הַקָּרֹב אֵלָיו וְגָאַל אֵת מִמְכַּר אָחִיו׃ 25
26ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ τινι ὁ ἀγχιστεύων καὶ εὐπορηθῇ τῇ χειρὶ καὶ εὑρεθῇ αὐτῷ τὸ ἱκανὸν λύτρα αὐτοῦ,  If a man has no one to redeem it, and then himself becomes prosperous and finds sufficient means to redeem it,וְאִישׁ כִּי לֹא יִהְיֶה־לֹּו גֹּאֵל וְהִשִּׂיגָה יָדֹו וּמָצָא כְּדֵי גְאֻלָּתֹו׃ 26
27καὶ συλλογιεῖται τὰ ἔτη τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποδώσει ὃ ὑπερέχει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, ᾧ ἀπέδοτο ἑαυτὸν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ.  let him reckon the years since he sold it and pay back the overpayment to the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return to his property.וְחִשַּׁב אֶת־שְׁנֵי מִמְכָּרֹו וְהֵשִׁיב אֶת־הָעֹדֵף לָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר מָכַר־לֹו וְשָׁב לַאֲחֻזָּתֹו׃ 27
28ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εὐπορηθῇ ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ τὸ ἱκανὸν ὥστε ἀποδοῦναι αὐτῷ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ πρᾶσις τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὰ ἕως τοῦ ἕκτου ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως· καὶ ἐξελεύσεται τῇ ἀφέσει, καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ.  But if he has not sufficient means to get it back for himself, then what he sold shall remain in the hand of him who bought it until the year of jubilee; in the jubilee it shall be released, and he shall return to his property.וְאִם לֹא־מָצְאָה יָדֹו דֵּי הָשִׁיב לֹו וְהָיָה מִמְכָּרֹו בְּיַד הַקֹּנֶה אֹתֹו עַד שְׁנַת הַיֹּובֵל וְיָצָא בַּיֹּבֵל וְשָׁב לַאֲחֻזָּתֹו׃ 28
29Ἑὰν δέ τις ἀποδῶται οἰκίαν οἰκητὴν ἐν πόλει τετειχισμένῃ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς, ἕως πληρωθῇ ἐνιαυτὸς ἡμερῶν, ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς.  "If a man sells a dwelling house in a walled city, he may redeem it within a whole year after its sale; for a full year he shall have the right of redemption.וְאִישׁ כִּי־יִמְכֹּר בֵּית־מֹושַׁב עִיר חֹומָה וְהָיְתָה גְּאֻלָּתֹו עַד־תֹּם שְׁנַת מִמְכָּרֹו יָמִים תִּהְיֶה גְאֻלָּתֹו׃ 29
30ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρωθῇ, ἕως ἂν πληρωθῇ αὐτῆς ἐνιαυτὸς ὅλος, κυρωθήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἡ οὖσα ἐν πόλει τῇ ἐχούσῃ τεῖχος βεβαίως τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὴν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει.  If it is not redeemed within a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be made sure in perpetuity to him who bought it, throughout his generations; it shall not be released in the jubilee.וְאִם לֹא־יִגָּאֵל עַד־מְלֹאת לֹו שָׁנָה תְמִימָה וְקָם הַבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר־בָּעִיר אֲשֶׁר־[כ= לֹא] [ק= לֹו] חֹמָה לַצְּמִיתֻת לַקֹּנֶה אֹתֹו לְדֹרֹתָיו לֹא יֵצֵא בַּיֹּבֵל׃ 30
31αἱ δὲ οἰκίαι αἱ ἐν ἐπαύλεσιν, αἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐταῖς τεῖχος κύκλῳ, πρὸς τὸν ἀγρὸν τῆς γῆς λογισθήτωσαν· λυτρωταὶ διὰ παντὸς ἔσονται καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει ἐξελεύσονται.  But the houses of the villages which have no wall around them shall be reckoned with the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the jubilee.וּבָתֵּי הַחֲצֵרִים אֲשֶׁר אֵין־לָהֶם חֹמָה סָבִיב עַל־שְׂדֵה הָאָרֶץ יֵחָשֵׁב גְּאֻלָּה תִּהְיֶה־לֹּו וּבַיֹּבֵל יֵצֵא׃ 31
32καὶ αἱ πόλεις τῶν Λευιτῶν οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων αὐτῶν κατασχέσεως λυτρωταὶ διὰ παντὸς ἔσονται τοῖς Λευίταις·  Nevertheless the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities of their possession, the Levites may redeem at any time.וְעָרֵי הַלְוִיִּם בָּתֵּי עָרֵי אֲחֻזָּתָם גְּאֻלַּת עֹולָם תִּהְיֶה לַלְוִיִּם׃ 32
33καὶ ὃς ἂν λυτρωσάμενος παρὰ τῶν Λευιτῶν, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἡ διάπρασις αὐτῶν οἰκιῶν πόλεως κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει, ὅτι οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων τῶν Λευιτῶν κατάσχεσις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν Ισραηλ.  And if one of the Levites does not exercise his right of redemption, then the house that was sold in a city of their possession shall be released in the jubilee; for the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the people of Israel.וַאֲשֶׁר יִגְאַל מִן־הַלְוִיִּם וְיָצָא מִמְכַּר־בַּיִת וְעִיר אֲחֻזָּתֹו בַּיֹּבֵל כִּי בָתֵּי עָרֵי הַלְוִיִּם הִוא אֲחֻזָּתָם בְּתֹוךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ 33
34καὶ οἱ ἀγροὶ οἱ ἀφωρισμένοι ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν οὐ πραθήσονται, ὅτι κατάσχεσις αἰωνία τοῦτο αὐτῶν ἐστιν.  But the fields of common land belonging to their cities may not be sold; for that is their perpetual possession.וּשְׂדֵה מִגְרַשׁ עָרֵיהֶם לֹא יִמָּכֵר כִּי־אֲחֻזַּת עֹולָם הוּא לָהֶם׃ ס 34
35Ἑὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σου καὶ ἀδυνατήσῃ ταῖς χερσὶν παρὰ σοί, ἀντιλήμψῃ αὐτοῦ ὡς προσηλύτου καὶ παροίκου, καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ. The poor. Lv.25.35-38"And if your brother becomes poor, and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall maintain him; as a stranger and a sojourner he shall live with you.וְכִי־יָמוּךְ אָחִיךָ וּמָטָה יָדֹו עִמָּךְ וְהֶחֱזַקְתָּ בֹּו גֵּר וְתֹושָׁב וָחַי עִמָּךְ׃ 35
36οὐ λήμψῃ παρ' αὐτοῦ τόκον οὐδὲ ἐπὶ πλήθει καὶ φοβηθήσῃ τὸν θεόν σου - ἐγὼ κύριος - , καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ.  Take no interest from him or increase, but fear your God; that your brother may live beside you.אַל־תִּקַּח מֵאִתֹּו נֶשֶׁךְ וְתַרְבִּית וְיָרֵאתָ מֵאֱלֹהֶיךָ וְחֵי אָחִיךָ עִמָּךְ׃ 36
37τὸ ἀργύριόν σου οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τόκῳ καὶ ἐπὶ πλεονασμὸν οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ τὰ βρώματά σου.  You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor give him your food for profit.אֶת־כַּסְפְּךָ לֹא־תִתֵּן לֹו בְּנֶשֶׁךְ וּבְמַרְבִּית לֹא־תִתֵּן אָכְלֶךָ׃ 37
38ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὁ ἐξαγαγὼν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν γῆν Χανααν ὥστε εἶναι ὑμῶν θεός.  I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר־הֹוצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם לָתֵת לָכֶם אֶת־אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִהְיֹות לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים׃ ס 38
39Ἑὰν δὲ ταπεινωθῇ ὁ ἀδελφός σου παρὰ σοὶ καὶ πραθῇ σοι, οὐ δουλεύσει σοι δουλείαν οἰκέτου· Manumission. Lv.25.39-55"And if your brother becomes poor beside you, and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave:וְכִי־יָמוּךְ אָחִיךָ עִמָּךְ וְנִמְכַּר־לָךְ לֹא־תַעֲבֹד בֹּו עֲבֹדַת עָבֶד׃ 39
40ὡς μισθωτὸς ἢ πάροικος ἔσται σοι, ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως ἐργᾶται παρὰ σοί.  he shall be with you as a hired servant and as a sojourner. He shall serve with you until the year of the jubilee;כְּשָׂכִיר כְּתֹושָׁב יִהְיֶה עִמָּךְ עַד־שְׁנַת הַיֹּבֵל יַעֲבֹד עִמָּךְ׃ 40
41καὶ ἐξελεύσεται τῇ ἀφέσει καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν γενεὰν αὐτοῦ, εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν τὴν πατρικὴν ἀποδραμεῖται,  then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own family, and return to the possession of his fathers.וְיָצָא מֵעִמָּךְ הוּא וּבָנָיו עִמֹּו וְשָׁב אֶל־מִשְׁפַּחְתֹּו וְאֶל־אֲחֻזַּת אֲבֹתָיו יָשׁוּב׃ 41
42διότι οἰκέται μού εἰσιν οὗτοι, οὓς ἐξήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, οὐ πραθήσεται ἐν πράσει οἰκέτου·  For they are my servants, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.כִּי־עֲבָדַי הֵם אֲשֶׁר־הֹוצֵאתִי אֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם לֹא יִמָּכְרוּ מִמְכֶּרֶת עָבֶד׃ 42
43οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ καὶ φοβηθήσῃ κύριον τὸν θεόν σου.  You shall not rule over him with harshness, but shall fear your God.לֹא־תִרְדֶּה בֹו בְּפָרֶךְ וְיָרֵאתָ מֵאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃ 43
44καὶ παῖς καὶ παιδίσκη, ὅσοι ἂν γένωνταί σοι ἀπὸ τῶν ἐθνῶν, ὅσοι κύκλῳ σού εἰσιν, ἀπ' αὐτῶν κτήσεσθε δοῦλον καὶ δούλην.  As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are round about you.וְעַבְדְּךָ וַאֲמָתְךָ אֲשֶׁר יִהְיוּ־לָךְ מֵאֵת הַגֹּויִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹתֵיכֶם מֵהֶם תִּקְנוּ עֶבֶד וְאָמָה׃ 44
45καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν παροίκων τῶν ὄντων ἐν ὑμῖν, ἀπὸ τούτων κτήσεσθε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν συγγενῶν αὐτῶν, ὅσοι ἂν γένωνται ἐν τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν· ἔστωσαν ὑμῖν εἰς κατάσχεσιν.  You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their families that are with you, who have been born in your land; and they may be your property.וְגַם מִבְּנֵי הַתֹּושָׁבִים הַגָּרִים עִםָּכֶם מֵהֶם תִּקְנוּ וּמִמִּשְׁפַּחְתָּם אֲשֶׁר עִםָּכֶם אֲשֶׁר הֹולִידוּ בְּאַרְצְכֶם וְהָיוּ לָכֶם לַאֲחֻזָּה׃ 45
46καὶ καταμεριεῖτε αὐτοὺς τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν μεθ' ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν κατόχιμοι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἕκαστος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐ κατατενεῖ αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς μόχθοις.  You may bequeath them to your sons after you, to inherit as a possession for ever; you may make slaves of them, but over your brethren the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another, with harshness.וְהִתְנַחֲלְתֶּם אֹתָם לִבְנֵיכֶם אַחֲרֵיכֶם לָרֶשֶׁת אֲחֻזָּה לְעֹלָם בָּהֶם תַּעֲבֹדוּ וּבְאַחֵיכֶם בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ בְּאָחִיו לֹא־תִרְדֶּה בֹו בְּפָרֶךְ׃ ס 46
47Ἑὰν δὲ εὕρῃ ἡ χεὶρ τοῦ προσηλύτου ἢ τοῦ παροίκου τοῦ παρὰ σοὶ καὶ ἀπορηθεὶς ὁ ἀδελφός σου πραθῇ τῷ προσηλύτῳ ἢ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ παρὰ σοὶ ἐκ γενετῆς προσηλύτῳ,  "If a stranger or sojourner with you becomes rich, and your brother beside him becomes poor and sells himself to the stranger or sojourner with you, or to a member of the stranger's family,וְכִי תַשִּׂיג יַד גֵּר וְתֹושָׁב עִמָּךְ וּמָךְ אָחִיךָ עִמֹּו וְנִמְכַּר לְגֵר תֹּושָׁב עִמָּךְ אֹו לְעֵקֶר מִשְׁפַּחַת גֵּר׃ 47
48μετὰ τὸ πραθῆναι αὐτῷ λύτρωσις ἔσται αὐτῷ· εἷς τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ λυτρώσεται αὐτόν,  then after he is sold he may be redeemed; one of his brothers may redeem him,אַחֲרֵי נִמְכַּר גְּאֻלָּה תִּהְיֶה־לֹּו אֶחָד מֵאֶחָיו יִגְאָלֶנּוּ׃ 48
49ἀδελφὸς πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἢ υἱὸς ἀδελφοῦ πατρὸς λυτρώσεται αὐτὸν ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν οἰκείων τῶν σαρκῶν αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς αὐτοῦ λυτρώσεται αὐτόν· ἐὰν δὲ εὐπορηθεὶς ταῖς χερσὶν λυτρώσηται ἑαυτόν,  or his uncle, or his cousin may redeem him, or a near kinsman belonging to his family may redeem him; or if he grows rich he may redeem himself.אֹו־דֹדֹו אֹו בֶן־דֹּדֹו יִגְאָלֶנּוּ אֹו־מִשְּׁאֵר בְּשָׂרֹו מִמִּשְׁפַּחְתֹּו יִגְאָלֶנּוּ אֹו־הִשִּׂיגָה יָדֹו וְנִגְאָל׃ 49
50καὶ συλλογιεῖται πρὸς τὸν κεκτημένον αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἔτους, οὗ ἀπέδοτο ἑαυτὸν αὐτῷ, ἕως τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ τῆς ἀφέσεως, καὶ ἔσται τὸ ἀργύριον τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ ὡς μισθίου· ἔτος ἐξ ἔτους ἔσται μετ' αὐτοῦ.  He shall reckon with him who bought him from the year when he sold himself to him until the year of jubilee, and the price of his release shall be according to the number of years; the time he was with his owner shall be rated as the time of a hired servant.וְחִשַּׁב עִם־קֹנֵהוּ מִשְּׁנַת הִמָּכְרֹו לֹו עַד שְׁנַת הַיֹּבֵל וְהָיָה כֶּסֶף מִמְכָּרֹו בְּמִסְפַּר שָׁנִים כִּימֵי שָׂכִיר יִהְיֶה עִמֹּו׃ 50
51ἐὰν δέ τινι πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν ᾖ, πρὸς ταῦτα ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀργυρίου τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ·  If there are still many years, according to them he shall refund out of the price paid for him the price for his redemption.אִם־עֹוד רַבֹּות בַּשָּׁנִים לְפִיהֶן יָשִׁיב גְּאֻלָּתֹו מִכֶּסֶף מִקְנָתֹו׃ 51
52ἐὰν δὲ ὀλίγον καταλειφθῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐτῶν εἰς τὸν ἐνιαυτὸν τῆς ἀφέσεως, καὶ συλλογιεῖται αὐτῷ κατὰ τὰ ἔτη αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ.  If there remain but a few years until the year of jubilee, he shall make a reckoning with him; according to the years of service due from him he shall refund the money for his redemption.וְאִם־מְעַט נִשְׁאַר בַּשָּׁנִים עַד־שְׁנַת הַיֹּבֵל וְחִשַּׁב־לֹו כְּפִי שָׁנָיו יָשִׁיב אֶת־גְּאֻלָּתֹו׃ 52
53ὡς μισθωτὸς ἐνιαυτὸν ἐξ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἔσται μετ' αὐτοῦ· οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ ἐνώπιόν σου.  As a servant hired year by year shall he be with him; he shall not rule with harshness over him in your sight.כִּשְׂכִיר שָׁנָה בְּשָׁנָה יִהְיֶה עִמֹּו לֹא־יִרְדֶּנּוּ בְּפֶרֶךְ לְעֵינֶיךָ׃ 53
54ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρῶται κατὰ ταῦτα, ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως αὐτὸς καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ.  And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he shall be released in the year of jubilee, he and his children with him.וְאִם־לֹא יִגָּאֵל בְּאֵלֶּה וְיָצָא בִּשְׁנַת הַיֹּבֵל הוּא וּבָנָיו עִמֹּו׃ 54
55ὅτι ἐμοὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ οἰκέται, παῖδές μου οὗτοί εἰσιν, οὓς ἐξήγαγον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου· ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν.  For to me the people of Israel are servants, they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.כִּי־לִי בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲבָדִים עֲבָדַי הֵם אֲשֶׁר־הֹוצֵאתִי אֹותָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃ 55
