2Usque ad quem finem verba jactabitis?
intelligite prius, et sic loquamur.
Til to what ende schalt thou booste with wordis?
Vndurstonde thou first, and so speke we.
How long will you throw out words?
understand first, and so let us speak.

3Quare reputati sumus ut jumenta,
et sorduimus coram vobis?
Whi ben we arettid as beestis,
and han we be foule bifor thee?
Why are we reputed as beasts,
and counted vile before you?

4Qui perdis animam tuam in furore tuo,
numquid propter te derelinquetur terra,
et transferentur rupes de loco suo?
What leesist thou thi soule in thi woodnes?
Whether the erthe schal be forsakun for thee,
and hard stoonys schulen be borun ouer fro her place?
Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury,
shall the earth be forsaken for thee,
and shall rocks be removed out of their place?

5Nonne lux impii extinguetur,
nec splendebit flamma ignis ejus?
Whethir the liyt of a wickid man schal not be quenchid;
and the flawme of his fier schal not schyne?
Shall not the light of the wicked be extinguished,
and the flame of his fire not shine?

6Lux obtenebrescet in tabernaculo illius,
et lucerna quæ super eum est extinguetur.
Liyt schal wexe derke in his tabernacle;
and the lanterne, which is on hym, schal be quenchid.
The light shall be dark in his tabernacle,
and the lamp that is over him, shall be put out.

7Arctabuntur gressus virtutis ejus,
et præcipitabit eum consilium suum.
The steppis of his vertu schulen be maad streit;
and his counsel schal caste hym doun.
The step of his strength shall be straitened,
and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong.

8Immisit enim in rete pedes suos,
et in maculis ejus ambulat.
For he hath sent hise feet in to a net;
and he goith in the meschis therof.
For he hath thrust his feet into a net,
and walketh in its meshes.

9Tenebitur planta illius laqueo,
et exardescet contra eum sitis.
His foot schal be holdun with a snare;
and thirst schal brenne out ayens hym.
The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare,
and thirst shall burn against him.

10Abscondita est in terra pedica ejus,
et decipula illius super semitam.
The foot trappe of hym is hid in the erthe,
and his snare on the path.
A gin is hidden for him in the earth,
and his trap upon the path.

11Undique terrebunt eum formidines,
et involvent pedes ejus.
Dredis schulen make hym aferd on ech side,
and schulen biwlappe hise feet.
Fears shall terrify him on every side,
and shall entangle his feet.

12Attenuetur fame robur ejus,
et inedia invadat costas illius.
His strengthe be maad feble bi hungur;
and pouert asaile hise ribbis.
Let his strength be wasted with famine,
and let hunger invade his ribs.

13Devoret pulchritudinem cutis ejus;
consumat brachia illius primogenita mors.
Deuoure it the fairnesse of his skyn;
the firste gendrid deth waste hise armes.
Let it devour the beauty of his skin,
let the firstborn death consume his arms.

14Avellatur de tabernaculo suo fiducia ejus,
et calcet super eum, quasi rex, interitus.
His trist be takun awei fro his tabernacle; and perischyng,
as a kyng, aboue trede on hym.
Let his confidence be rooted out of his tabernacle,
and let destruction tread upon him like a king.

15Habitent in tabernaculo illius socii ejus qui non est;
aspergatur in tabernaculo ejus sulphur.
The felowis of hym that is not,
dwelle in his tabernacle;
brymston be spreynt in his tabernacle.
Let the companions of him that is not, dwell in his tabernacle,
let brimstone be sprinkled in his tent.

16Deorsum radices ejus siccentur:
sursum autem atteratur messis ejus.
The rootis of hym be maad drie bynethe;
sotheli his ripe corn be al tobrokun aboue.
Let his roots be dried up beneath,
and his harvest destroyed above.

17Memoria illius pereat de terra,
et non celebretur nomen ejus in plateis.
His mynde perische fro the erthe;
and his name be not maad solempne in stretis.
Let the memory of him perish from the earth
and let not his name be renowned in the streets.

18Expellet eum de luce in tenebras,
et de orbe transferet eum.
He schal put hym out fro liyt in to derknessis;
and he schal bere hym ouer fro the world.
He shall drive him out of light into darkness,
and shall remove him out of the world.

19Non erit semen ejus, neque progenies in populo suo,
nec ullæ reliquiæ in regionibus ejus.
Nethir his seed nether kynrede schal be in his puple,
nether ony relifs in hise cuntreis.
His seed shall not subsist, nor his offspring among his people,
nor any remnants in his country.

20In die ejus stupebunt novissimi,
et primos invadet horror.
The laste men schulen wondre in hise daies;
and hidousnesse schal asaile the firste men.
They that come after him shall be astonished at his day,
and horror shall fall upon them that went before.

21Hæc sunt ergo tabernacula iniqui,
et iste locus ejus qui ignorat Deum.
Therfor these ben the tabernaclis of a wickid man;
and this is the place of hym, that knowith not God.
These men are the tabernacles of the wicked,
and this the place of him that knoweth not God.
