| 8 | Tunc misit Amasias nuntios ad Joas filium Joachaz filii Jehu regis Israël, dicens: Veni, et videamus nos. |
Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs in batel. |
Then Amasias sent messengers to Joas son of Joachaz, son of Jehu king of Israel, saying: Come let us see one another. | |
| 9 | Remisitque Joas rex Israël ad Amasiam regem Juda, dicens: Carduus Libani misit ad cedrum, quæ est in Libano, dicens: Da filiam tuam filio meo uxorem. Transieruntque bestiæ saltus, quæ sunt in Libano, et conculcaverunt carduum. |
And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue. |
And Joas king of Israel sent again to Amasias king of Juda, saying: A thistle of Libanus sent to a cedar tree, which is in Libanus, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And the beasts of the forest, that are in Libanus, passed and trod down the thistle. | |
| 10 | Percutiens invaluisti super Edom, et sublevavit te cor tuum: contentus esto gloria, et sede in domo tua: quare provocas malum, ut cadas tu et Judas tecum? |
Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee? |
Thou hast beaten and prevailed over Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: be content with the glory, and sit at home: why provokest thou evil, that thou shouldst fall, and Juda with thee? | |
| 11 | Et non acquievit Amasias. Ascenditque Joas rex Israël, et viderunt se, ipse et Amasias rex Juda, in Bethsames oppido Judæ. |
And Amasie assentide not to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda. |
But Amasias did not rest satisfied. So Joas king of Israel went up, and he and Amasias king of Juda saw one another in Bethsames a town in Juda. | |
| 12 | Percussusque est Juda coram Israël, et fugerunt unusquisque in tabernacula sua. |
And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis. |
And Juda was put to the worst before Israel, and they fled every man to their dwellings. | |
| 13 | Amasiam vero regem Juda, filium Joas filii Ochoziæ, cepit Joas rex Israël in Bethsames, et adduxit eum in Jerusalem: et interrupit murum Jerusalem, a porta Ephraim usque ad portam anguli, quadringentis cubitis. |
Sotheli Joas, kyng of Israel, took in Bethsames Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Ocozie, and brouyte hym in to Jerusalem; and he brak the wal of Jerusalem, fro the yate of Effraym til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis. |
But Joas king of Israel took Amasias, king of Juda the son of Joas, the son of Ochozias, in Bethsames, and brought him into Jerusalem: and he broke down the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim to the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits. | |

And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie. |
And he took all the gold, and silver, and all the vessels, that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the king's treasures, and hostages, and returned to Samaria. | |
| 15 | Reliqua autem verborum Joas quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus qua pugnavit contra Amasiam regem Juda, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro sermonum dierum regum Israël? |

But the rest of the acts of Joas, which he did, and his valour, wherewith he fought against Amasias king of Juda, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel? | |
| 16 | Dormivitque Joas cum patribus suis, et sepultus est in Samaria cum regibus Israël, et regnavit Jeroboam filius ejus pro eo. |
And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym. |
And Joas slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel: and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead. | |
| 17 | Vixit autem Amasias filius Joas rex Juda postquam mortuus est Joas filius Joachaz regis Israël, quindecim annis. |
Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed. |

| 19 | Factaque est contra eum conjuratio in Jerusalem: at ille fugit in Lachis. Miseruntque post eum in Lachis, et interfecerunt eum ibi: |
And sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there. |
Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachis. And they sent after him to Lachis, and killed him there. | |
| 20 | et asportaverunt in equis, sepultusque est in Jerusalem cum patribus suis in civitate David. |
And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid. |
And they brought him away upon horses, and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David. | |
