| b. ON ONE OF HIS TEACHING JOURNEYS round the villages | | καὶ ἐθαύμαζεν διὰ τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν. |
| he summoned the Twelve and sent them out in pairs on a mission. | The mission of the Twelve Mk.6.7-13 (Capernaum) | Mt.10.5-15 | Lk.9.1-6 | καὶ προσκαλεῖται τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ἠρξατο αὐτοὺς ἀποστέλλειν δύο δύο, καὶ ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν τῶν πνευμάτων τῶν ἀκαθάρτων· |
| He gave them authority over unclean spirits, and instructed them to take nothing for the journey beyond a stick: no bread, no pack, no money in their belts.
| They might wear sandals, but not a second coat. |
| 'When you are admitted to a house', he added, 'stay there until you leave those parts. |
| At any place where they will not receive you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet as you leave, as a warning to them.' |
| So they set out and called publicly for repentance.
| They drove out many devils, and many sick people they anointed with oil and cured.
