16 New English Bible (New Testament) Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

5In crossing to the other side the disciples had forgotten to take bread with them.The Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees Mt.16.5-12 (Gennesaret) | Mk.8.14-21Καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ εἰς τὸ πέραν ἐπελάθοντο ἀρτους λαβεῖν.
6So, when Jesus said to them, 'Beware, be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees', ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Ὁρᾶτε καὶ προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῆς ζύμης τῶν Φαρισαίων καὶ Σαδδουκαίων.
7they began to say among themselves, 'It is because we have brought no bread!' οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες ὅτι Ἄρτους οὐκ ἐλάβομεν.
8Knowing what was in their minds, Jesus said to them: 'Why do you talk about bringing no bread? Where is your faith? γνοὺς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, Τί διαλογίζεσθε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς, ὀλιγόπιστοι, ὅτι ἀρτους οὐκ ἐχετὲ;
9Do you not understand even yet? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you picked up? οὐπω νοεῖτε, οὐδὲ μνημονεύετε τοὺς πέντε ἀρτους τῶν πεντακισχιλίων καὶ πόσους κοφίνους ἐλάβετὲ;
10Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you picked up? οὐδὲ τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἀρτους τῶν τετρακισχιλίων καὶ πόσας σπυρίδας ἐλάβετὲ;
11How can you fail to see that I was not speaking about bread? Be on your guard, I said, against the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.'
12Then they understood: they were to be on their guard, not against baker's leaven, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
