17	And Jehoiada made a covenant between Yahweh and the king and people, that they should be Yahweh's people; and also between the king and the people.	Jehoiada's reforms. 2Kgs.11.17-21 \| 2Chr.23.16-21	וַיִּכְרֹת יְהֹויָדָע אֶת־הַבְּרִית בֵּין יְהוָה וּבֵין הַמֶּלֶךְ וּבֵין הָעָם לִהְיֹות לְעָם לַיהוָה וּבֵין הַמֶּלֶךְ וּבֵין הָעָם׃
18	Then all the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest posted watchmen over the house of Yahweh.		וַיָּבֹאוּ כָל־עַם הָאָרֶץ בֵּית־הַבַּעַל וַיִּתְּצֻהוּ אֶת־כ= מִזְבְּחֹתֹו ק= מִזְבְּחֹתָיו וְאֶת־צְלָמָיו שִׁבְּרוּ הֵיטֵב וְאֵת מַתָּן כֹּהֵן הַבַּעַל הָרְגוּ לִפְנֵי הַמִּזְבְּחֹות וַיָּשֶׂם הַכֹּהֵן פְּקֻדֹּות עַל־בֵּית יְהוָה׃
19	And he took the captains, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of Yahweh, marching through the gate of the guards to the king's house. And he took his seat on the throne of the kings.		וַיִּקַּח אֶת־שָׂרֵי הַמֵּאֹות וְאֶת־הַכָּרִי וְאֶת־הָרָצִים וְאֵת כָּל־עַם הָאָרֶץ וַיֹּרִידוּ אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ מִבֵּית יְהוָה וַיָּבֹואוּ דֶּרֶךְ־שַׁעַר הָרָצִים בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֵּשֶׁב עַל־כִּסֵּא הַמְּלָכִים׃
20	So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet after Athaliah had been slain with the sword at the king's house.		וַיִּשְׂמַח כָּל־עַם־הָאָרֶץ וְהָעִיר שָׁקָטָה וְאֶת־עֲתַלְיָהוּ הֵמִיתוּ בַחֶרֶב בֵּית כ= מֶלֶךְ ק= הַמֶּלֶךְ׃ ס
21	Jehoash was seven years old when he bagan to reign.		בֶּן־שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים יְהֹואָשׁ בְּמָלְכֹו׃ ף

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.
The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
