| 16 | And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be Yahweh's people. | JOASH king of Judah. Jehoiada's reforms. 2Chr.23.16-21 | 2Kgs.11.17-20 | וַיִּכְרֹת יְהֹויָדָע בְּרִית בֵּינֹו וּבֵין כָּל־הָעָם וּבֵין הַמֶּלֶךְ לִהְיֹות לְעָם לַיהוָה׃ |

| 17 | Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. | | וַיָּבֹאוּ כָל־הָעָם בֵּית־הַבַּעַל וַיִּתְּצֻהוּ וְאֶת־מִזְבְּחֹתָיו וְאֶת־צְלָמָיו שִׁבֵּרוּ וְאֵת מַתָּן כֹּהֵן הַבַּעַל הָרְגוּ לִפְנֵי הַמִּזְבְּחֹות׃ |

| 18 | And Jehoiada posted watchmen for the house of Yahweh under the direction of the Levitical priests and the Levites whom David had organized to be in charge of the house of Yahweh, to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David. | | וַיָּשֶׂם יְהֹויָדָע פְּקֻדֹּת בֵּית יְהוָה בְּיַד הַכֹּהֲנִים הַלְוִיִּם אֲשֶׁר חָלַק דָּוִיד עַל־בֵּית יְהוָה לְהַעֲלֹות עֹלֹות יְהוָה כַּכָּתוּב בְּתֹורַת מֹשֶׁה בְּשִׂמְחָה וּבְשִׁיר עַל יְדֵי דָוִיד׃ |

| 19 | He stationed the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of Yahweh so that no one should enter who was in any way unclean. | | וַיַּעֲמֵד הַשֹּׁועֲרִים עַל־שַׁעֲרֵי בֵּית יְהוָה וְלֹא־יָבֹא טָמֵא לְכָל־דָּבָר׃ |

| 20 | And he took the captains, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of Yahweh, marching through the upper gate to the king's house. And they set the king upon the royal throne. | | וַיִּקַּח אֶת־שָׂרֵי הַמֵּאֹות וְאֶת־הָאַדִּירִים וְאֶת־הַמֹּושְׁלִים בָּעָם וְאֵת כָּל־עַם הָאָרֶץ וַיֹּורֶד אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ מִבֵּית יְהוָה וַיָּבֹאוּ בְּתֹוךְ־שַׁעַר הָעֶלְיֹון בֵּית הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיֹּושִׁיבוּ אֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל כִּסֵּא הַמַּמְלָכָה׃ |

| 21 | So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, after Athaliah had been slain with the sword. | | וַיִּשְׂמְחוּ כָל־עַם־הָאָרֶץ וְהָעִיר שָׁקָטָה וְאֶת־עֲתַלְיָהוּ הֵמִיתוּ בֶחָרֶב׃ ס |
