King James Version | 1 Corinthians:15 | Novum Testamentum Graece (UBS.Ed.26)
| Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; | The Resurrection of Christ 1Cor.15.1-11 | Γνωρίζω δὲ ὑμῖν, ἀδελφοί, τὸ εὐαγγέλιον ὃ εὐηγγελισάμην ὑμῖν, ὃ καὶ παρελάβετε, ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἑστήκατε,
| By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
| For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; | 1Cor.15.3-7 | παρέδωκα γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν πρώτοις, ὃ καὶ παρέλαβον, ὅτι Χριστὸς ἀπέθανεν ὑπὲρ τῶν ἀμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν κατὰ τὰς γραφάς,
| And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: | καὶ ὅτι ἐτάφη, καὶ ὅτι ἐγήγερται τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ κατὰ τὰς γραφάς,
| And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: | καὶ ὅτι ὠφθη Κηφᾷ, εἶτα τοῖς δώδεκα·
| After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
| After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
| And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
| For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
| But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which | upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.χάριτι δὲ θεοῦ εἰμι ὁ εἰμι, καὶ ἡ χάρις αὐτοῦ ἡ εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ κενὴ ἐγενήθη, ἀλλὰ περισσότερον αὐτῶν πάντων ἐκοπίασα, οὐκ ἐγὼ δὲ ἀλλὰ ἡ χάρις τοῦ θεοῦ | σὺν ἐμοί.||
| Therefore whether | I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.εἰτε οὖν ἐγὼ εἰτε ἐκεῖνοι, οὑτως κηρύσσομεν καὶ οὑτως ἐπιστεύσατε.
| Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? | The Resurrection of the Dead 1Cor.15.12-34 | Εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς κηρύσσεται ὅτι ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται, πῶς λέγουσιν ἐν ὑμῖν τινες ὅτι ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἐστιν;
| But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: | εἰ δὲ ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἐστιν, οὐδὲ Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται·
| And if Christ be not risen, then | our preaching vain, and your faith also vain.εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται, κενὸν ἀρα | τὸ κήρυγμα ἡμῶν, κενὴ καὶ ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν,||
| Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
| For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: | εἰ γὰρ νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, οὐδὲ Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται·
| And if Christ be not raised, your faith | vain; ye are yet in your sins.εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς οὐκ ἐγήγερται, ματαία ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν, ἐτι ἐστὲ ἐν ταῖς ἀμαρτίαις ὑμῶν.
| Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
| If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
| But now is Christ risen from the dead, | become the firstfruits of them that slept.Νυνὶ δὲ Χριστὸς ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν, ἀπαρχὴ τῶν κεκοιμημένων.
| For since by man | death, by man also the resurrection of the dead.ἐπειδὴ γὰρ δῖ ἀνθρώπου θάνατος, καὶ δῖ ἀνθρώπου ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν·
| For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
| But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
| Then | the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.εἶτα τὸ τέλος, ὁταν παραδιδῷ τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ θεῷ καὶ πατρί, ὁταν καταργήσῃ πᾶσαν ἀρχὴν καὶ πᾶσαν ἐξουσίαν καὶ δύναμιν.
| For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
| The last enemy | shall be destroyed death.ἐσχατος ἐχθρὸς καταργεῖται ὁ θάνατος·
| For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under | manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.- For God has put all things in subjection 1Cor.15.27 | Ps.8.6 | πάντα γὰρ ὑπέταξεν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ.
| And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
| Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? | Ἐπεὶ τί ποιήσουσιν οἱ βαπτιζόμενοι ὑπὲρ τῶν νεκρῶν; εἰ ὁλως νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, τί καὶ βαπτίζονται ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν;
| And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? | τί καὶ ἡμεῖς κινδυνεύομεν πᾶσαν ὡραν;
| I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
| If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die. | - If the dead are not raised 1Cor.15.32 | Is.22.13 | Is.56.12 | εἰ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον ἐθηριομάχησα ἐν Ἐφέσῳ, τί μοι τὸ ὀφελος; εἰ νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, Φάγωμεν καὶ πίωμεν,
| Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
| Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak | to your shame.ἐκνήψατε δικαίως καὶ μὴ ἀμαρτάνετε, ἀγνωσίαν γὰρ θεοῦ τινες ἐχουσιν· πρὸς ἐντροπὴν ὑμῖν λαλῶ.
| But some | will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?The Resurrection Body 1Cor.15.35-58 | Ἀλλὰ ἐρεῖ τις, Πῶς ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροί; ποίῳ δὲ σώματι ἐρχονταὶ;
| fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: | ἀφρων, σὺ ὃ σπείρεις οὐ ζῳοποιεῖται ἐὰν μὴ ἀποθάνῃ·
| And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other | :καὶ ὃ σπείρεις, οὐ τὸ σῶμα τὸ γενησόμενον σπείρεις ἀλλὰ γυμνὸν κόκκον εἰ τύχοι σίτου ἠ τινος τῶν λοιπῶν·
| But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
| All flesh | not the same flesh: but one flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, another of birds.οὐ πᾶσα σὰρξ ἡ αὐτὴ σάρξ, ἀλλὰ ἀλλη μὲν ἀνθρώπων, ἀλλη δὲ σὰρξ κτηνῶν, ἀλλη δὲ σὰρξ πτηνῶν, ἀλλη δὲ ἰχθύων.
| also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial one, and the of the terrestrial another.
| one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for star differeth from star in glory.
| So also | the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:Οὑτως καὶ ἡ ἀνάστασις τῶν νεκρῶν.
| It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: | σπείρεται ἐν ἀτιμίᾳ, ἐγείρεται ἐν δόξῃ· σπείρεται ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ, ἐγείρεται ἐν δυνάμει·
| It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
| And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam | a quickening spirit.- The first man Adam became a living being 1Cor.15.45 | Gn.1.7 | οὑτως καὶ γέγραπται, Ἐγένετο ὁ πρῶτος ἄνθρωπος Ἀδὰμ εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν· ὁ ἐσχατος Ἀδὰμ εἰς πνεῦμα ζῳοποιοῦν.
| Howbeit that | not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.ἀλλ' οὐ πρῶτον τὸ πνευματικὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ ψυχικόν, ἐπειτα τὸ πνευματικόν.
| The first man | of the earth, earthy: the second man the Lord from heaven.ὁ πρῶτος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ γῆς χοϊκός, ὁ δεύτερος ἄνθρωπος ἐξ οὐρανοῦ.
| As | the earthy, such they also that are earthy: and as the heavenly, such they also that are heavenly.οἷος ὁ χοϊκός, τοιοῦτοι καὶ οἱ χοϊκοί, καὶ οἷος ὁ ἐπουράνιος, τοιοῦτοι καὶ οἱ ἐπουράνιοι·
| And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
| Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
| Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, | ἰδοὺ μυστήριον ὑμῖν λέγω· πάντες οὐ κοιμηθησόμεθα, πάντες δὲ ἀλλαγησόμεθα,
| In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
| For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal | put on immortality.δεῖ γὰρ τὸ φθαρτὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσασθαι ἀφθαρσίαν καὶ τὸ θνητὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσασθαι ἀθανασίαν.
| So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. | - Death is swallowed up in victory 1Cor.15.54 | Is.25.8 | ὁταν δὲ τὸ φθαρτὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσηται ἀφθαρσίαν καὶ τὸ θνητὸν τοῦτο ἐνδύσηται ἀθανασίαν, τότε γενήσεται ὁ λόγος ὁ γεγραμμένος, Kατεπόθη ὁ θάνατος εἰς νῖκος.
| O death, where | thy sting? O grave, where thy victory?- O death, where is thy victory? 1Cor.15.55 | Hs.13.14 | ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ νῖκοσ; ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ κέντρον;
| The sting of death | sin; and the strength of sin the law.τὸ δὲ κέντρον τοῦ θανάτου ἡ ἀμαρτία, ἡ δὲ δύναμις τῆς ἀμαρτίας ὁ νόμος·
| But thanks | to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.τῷ δὲ θεῷ χάρις τῷ διδόντι ἡμῖν τὸ νῖκος διὰ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.
| Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
