| 1 | Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῶν Αμορραίων, οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου, καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς Φοινίκης οἱ παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν ὅτι ἀπεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν Ιορδάνην ποταμὸν ἐκ τῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ διαβαίνειν αὐτούς, καὶ ἐτάκησαν αὐτῶν αἱ διάνοιαι καὶ κατεπλάγησαν, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἐν αὐτοῖς φρόνησις οὐδεμία ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ. |
| | When all the kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites that were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan for the people of Israel until they had crossed over, their heart melted, and there was no longer any spirit in them, because of the people of Israel. | וַיְהִי כִשְׁמֹעַ כָּל־מַלְכֵי הָאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן יָמָּה וְכָל־מַלְכֵי הַכְּנַעֲנִי אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַיָּם אֵת אֲשֶׁר־הֹובִישׁ יְהוָה אֶת־מֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן מִפְּנֵי בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד־[כ= עָבְרָנוּ] [ק= עָבְרָם] וַיִּמַּס לְבָבָם וְלֹא־הָיָה בָם עֹוד רוּחַ מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ ס |

| 2 | Ὑπὸ δὲ τοῦτον τὸν καιρὸν εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ Ποίησον σεαυτῷ μαχαίρας πετρίνας ἐκ πέτρας ἀκροτόμου καὶ καθίσας περίτεμε τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ. |
| The Israelites are circumcised and keep the Passover. Jos.5.2-12 | At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives and circumcise the people of Israel again the second time." | בָּעֵת הַהִיא אָמַר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ עֲשֵׂה לְךָ חַרְבֹות צֻרִים וְשׁוּב מֹל אֶת־בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל שֵׁנִית׃ |

| 3 | καὶ ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς μαχαίρας πετρίνας ἀκροτόμους καὶ περιέτεμεν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τοῦ καλουμένου τόπου Βουνὸς τῶν ἀκροβυστιῶν. |
| | So Joshua made flint knives, and circumcised the people of Israel at Gibeath-haaraloth. | וַיַּעַשׂ־לֹו יְהֹושֻׁעַ חַרְבֹות צֻרִים וַיָּמָל אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־גִּבְעַת הָעֲרָלֹות׃ |

| 4 | ὃν δὲ τρόπον περιεκάθαρεν Ἰησοῦς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ, ὅσοι ποτὲ ἐγένοντο ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ ὅσοι ποτὲ ἀπερίτμητοι ἦσαν τῶν ἐξεληλυθότων ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, |
| | And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the males of the people who came out of Egypt, all the men of war, had died on the way in the wilderness after they had come out of Egypt. | וְזֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־מָל יְהֹושֻׁעַ כָּל־הָעָם הַיֹּצֵא מִמִּצְרַיִם הַזְּכָרִים כֹּל אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה מֵתוּ בַמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ בְּצֵאתָם מִמִּצְרָיִם׃ |

| 5 | πάντας τούτους περιέτεμεν Ἰησοῦς· |
| | Though all the people who came out had been circumcised, yet all the people that were born on the way in the wilderness after they had come out of Egypt had not been circumcised. | כִּי־מֻלִים הָיוּ כָּל־הָעָם הַיֹּצְאִים וְכָל־הָעָם הַיִּלֹּדִים בַּמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ בְּצֵאתָם מִמִּצְרַיִם לֹא־מָלוּ׃ |

| 6 | τεσσαράκοντα γὰρ καὶ δύο ἔτη ἀνέστραπται Ισραηλ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τῇ Μαδβαρίτιδι, διὸ ἀπερίτμητοι ἦσαν οἱ πλεῖστοι αὐτῶν τῶν μαχίμων τῶν ἐξεληλυθότων ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου οἱ ἀπειθήσαντες τῶν ἐντολῶν τοῦ θεοῦ, οἷς καὶ διώρισεν μὴ ἰδεῖν αὐτοὺς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσεν κύριος τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν δοῦναι ἡμῖν, γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι. |
| | For the people of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the nation, the men of war that came forth out of Egypt, perished, because they did not hearken to the voice of the LORD; to them the LORD swore that he would not let them see the land which the LORD had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey. | כִּי אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה הָלְכוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּמִּדְבָּר עַד־תֹּם כָּל־הַגֹּוי אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה הַיֹּצְאִים מִמִּצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא־שָׁמְעוּ בְּקֹול יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְהוָה לָהֶם לְבִלְתִּי הַרְאֹותָם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְהוָה לַאֲבֹותָם לָתֶת לָנוּ אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ׃ |

| 7 | ἀντὶ δὲ τούτων ἀντικατέστησεν τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν, οὓς Ἰησοῦς περιέτεμεν διὰ τὸ αὐτοὺς γεγενῆσθαι κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ἀπεριτμήτους. |
| | So it was their children, whom he raised up in their stead, that Joshua circumcised; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way. | וְאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶם הֵקִים תַּחְתָּם אֹתָם מָל יְהֹושֻׁעַ כִּי־עֲרֵלִים הָיוּ כִּי לֹא־מָלוּ אֹותָם בַּדָּרֶךְ׃ |

| 8 | περιτμηθέντες δὲ ἡσυχίαν εἶχον αὐτόθι καθήμενοι ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ, ἕως ὑγιάσθησαν. |
| | When the circumcising of all the nation was done, they remained in their places in the camp till they were healed. | וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר־תַּמּוּ כָל־הַגֹּוי לְהִמֹּול וַיֵּשְׁבוּ תַחְתָּם בַּמַּחֲנֶה עַד חֲיֹותָם׃ ף |

| 9 | καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ υἱῷ Ναυη Ἑν τῇ σήμερον ἡμέρᾳ ἀφεῖλον τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν Αἰγύπτου ἀφ' ὑμῶν. καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Γαλγαλα. |
| | And the LORD said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." And so the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day. | וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ הַיֹּום גַּלֹּותִי אֶת־חֶרְפַּת מִצְרַיִם מֵעֲלֵיכֶם וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם הַמָּקֹום הַהוּא גִּלְגָּל עַד הַיֹּום הַזֶּה׃ |

| 10 | Καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸ πασχα τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς ἀπὸ ἑσπέρας ἐπὶ δυσμῶν Ιεριχω ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ |
| | While the people of Israel were encamped in Gilgal they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho. | וַיַּחֲנוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּגִּלְגָּל וַיַּעֲשׂוּ אֶת־הַפֶּסַח בְּאַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר יֹום לַחֹדֶשׁ בָּעֶרֶב בְּעַרְבֹות יְרִיחֹו׃ |

| 11 | καὶ ἐφάγοσαν ἀπὸ τοῦ σίτου τῆς γῆς ἄζυμα καὶ νέα. ἐν ταύτῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ |
| | And on the morrow after the passover, on that very day, they ate of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. | וַיֹּאכְלוּ מֵעֲבוּר הָאָרֶץ מִמָּחֳרַת הַפֶּסַח מַצֹּות וְקָלוּי בְּעֶצֶם הַיֹּום הַזֶּה׃ |

| 12 | ἐξέλιπεν τὸ μαννα μετὰ τὸ βεβρωκέναι αὐτοὺς ἐκ τοῦ σίτου τῆς γῆς, καὶ οὐκέτι ὑπῆρχεν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ μαννα· ἐκαρπίσαντο δὲ τὴν χώραν τῶν Φοινίκων ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ. |
| | And the manna ceased on the morrow, when they ate of the produce of the land; and the people of Israel had manna no more, but ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. | וַיִּשְׁבֹּת הַמָּן מִמָּחֳרָת בְּאָכְלָם מֵעֲבוּר הָאָרֶץ וְלֹא־הָיָה עֹוד לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מָן וַיֹּאכְלוּ מִתְּבוּאַת אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִיא׃ ס |

| 13 | Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἦν Ἰησοῦς ἐν Ιεριχω, καὶ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς εἶδεν ἄνθρωπον ἑστηκότα ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἡ ῥομφαία ἐσπασμένη ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ. καὶ προσελθὼν Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἡμέτερος εἶ ἢ τῶν ὑπεναντίων; |
| The commander of the Army. Joshua.5.13-15 | When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood before him with his drawn sword in his hand; and Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?" | וַיְהִי בִּהְיֹות יְהֹושֻׁעַ בִּירִיחֹו וַיִּשָּׂא עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא וְהִנֵּה־אִישׁ עֹמֵד לְנֶגְדֹּו וְחַרְבֹּו שְׁלוּפָה בְּיָדֹו וַיֵּלֶךְ יְהֹושֻׁעַ אֵלָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו הֲלָנוּ אַתָּה אִם־לְצָרֵינוּ׃ |

| 14 | ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἑγὼ ἀρχιστράτηγος δυνάμεως κυρίου νυνὶ παραγέγονα. καὶ Ἰησοῦς ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Δέσποτα, τί προστάσσεις τῷ σῷ οἰκέτῃ; |
| | And he said, "No; but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my lord bid his servant?" | וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא כִּי אֲנִי שַׂר־צְבָא־יְהוָה עַתָּה בָאתִי וַיִּפֹּל יְהֹושֻׁעַ אֶל־פָּנָיו אַרְצָה וַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו מָה אֲדֹנִי מְדַבֵּר אֶל־עַבְדֹּו׃ |

| 15 | καὶ λέγει ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος κυρίου πρὸς Ἰησοῦν Λῦσαι τὸ ὑπόδημα ἐκ τῶν ποδῶν σου· ὁ γὰρ τόπος, ἐφ' ᾧ σὺ ἕστηκας, ἅγιός ἐστιν. |
| | And the commander of the LORD's army said to Joshua, "Put off your shoes from your feet; for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so. | וַיֹּאמֶר שַׂר־צְבָא יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ שַׁל־נַעַלְךָ מֵעַל רַגְלֶךָ כִּי הַמָּקֹום אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹמֵד עָלָיו קֹדֶשׁ הוּא וַיַּעַשׂ יְהֹושֻׁעַ כֵּן׃ |
