| 1 | Καὶ ἐπεὶ συνετέλεσεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς διαβαίνων τὸν Ιορδάνην, καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ λέγων | When all the nation had finished passing over the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua, | וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר־תַּמּוּ כָל־הַגֹּוי לַעֲבֹור אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן ף וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר׃ | 1 | ||
| 2 | Παραλαβὼν ἄνδρας ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ, ἕνα ἀφ' ἑκάστης φυλῆς, | "Take twelve men from the people, from each tribe a man, | קְחוּ לָכֶם מִן־הָעָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר אֲנָשִׁים אִישׁ־אֶחָד אִישׁ־אֶחָד מִשָּׁבֶט׃ | 2 | ||
| 3 | σύνταξον αὐτοῖς λέγων Ἀνέλεσθε ἐκ μέσου τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἑτοίμους δώδεκα λίθους καὶ τούτους διακομίσαντες ἅμα ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς θέτε αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ στρατοπεδείᾳ ὑμῶν, οὗ ἐὰν παρεμβάλητε ἐκεῖ τὴν νύκτα. | and command them, 'Take twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests' feet stood, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you lodge tonight.'" | וְצַוּוּ אֹותָם לֵאמֹר שְׂאוּ־לָכֶם מִזֶּה מִתֹּוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן מִמַּצַּב רַגְלֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים הָכִין שְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵה אֲבָנִים וְהַעֲבַרְתֶּם אֹותָם עִםָּכֶם וְהִנַּחְתֶּם אֹותָם בַּמָּלֹון אֲשֶׁר־תָּלִינוּ בֹו הַלָּיְלָה׃ ס | 3 | ||
| 4 | καὶ ἀνακαλεσάμενος Ἰησοῦς δώδεκα ἄνδρας τῶν ἐνδόξων ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ, ἕνα ἀφ' ἑκάστης φυλῆς, | Then Joshua called the twelve men from the people of Israel, whom he had appointed, a man from each tribe; | וַיִּקְרָא יְהֹושֻׁעַ אֶל־שְׁנֵים הֶעָשָׂר אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר הֵכִין מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ־אֶחָד אִישׁ־אֶחָד מִשָּׁבֶט׃ | 4 | ||
| 5 | εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Προσαγάγετε ἔμπροσθέν μου πρὸ προσώπου κυρίου εἰς μέσον τοῦ Ιορδάνου, καὶ ἀνελόμενος ἐκεῖθεν ἕκαστος λίθον ἀράτω ἐπὶ τῶν ὤμων αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τῶν δώδεκα φυλῶν τοῦ Ισραηλ, | and Joshua said to them, "Pass on before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, | וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם יְהֹושֻׁעַ עִבְרוּ לִפְנֵי אֲרֹון יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֶל־תֹּוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן וְהָרִימוּ לָכֶם אִישׁ אֶבֶן אַחַת עַל־שִׁכְמֹו לְמִסְפַּר שִׁבְטֵי בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ | 5 | ||
| 6 | ἵνα ὑπάρχωσιν ὑμῖν οὗτοι εἰς σημεῖον κείμενον διὰ παντός, ἵνα ὅταν ἐρωτᾷ σε ὁ υἱός σου αὔριον λέγων Τί εἰσιν οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ὑμῖν; | that this may be a sign among you, when your children ask in time to come, 'What do those stones mean to you?' | לְמַעַן תִּהְיֶה זֹאת אֹות בְּקִרְבְּכֶם כִּי־יִשְׁאָלוּן בְּנֵיכֶם מָחָר לֵאמֹר מָה הָאֲבָנִים הָאֵלֶּה לָכֶם׃ | 6 | ||
| 7 | καὶ σὺ δηλώσεις τῷ υἱῷ σου λέγων Ὅτι ἐξέλιπεν ὁ Ιορδάνης ποταμὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης κυρίου πάσης τῆς γῆς, ὡς διέβαινεν αὐτόν· καὶ ἔσονται οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι ὑμῖν μνημόσυνον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος. | Then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial for ever." | וַאֲמַרְתֶּם לָהֶם אֲשֶׁר נִכְרְתוּ מֵימֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן מִפְּנֵי אֲרֹון בְּרִית־יְהוָה בְּעָבְרֹו בַּיַּרְדֵּן נִכְרְתוּ מֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן וְהָיוּ הָאֲבָנִים הָאֵלֶּה לְזִכָּרֹון לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד־עֹולָם׃ | 7 | ||
| 8 | καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ, καθότι ἐνετείλατο κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ, καὶ λαβόντες δώδεκα λίθους ἐκ μέσου τοῦ Ιορδάνου, καθάπερ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ ἐν τῇ συντελείᾳ τῆς διαβάσεως τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ, καὶ διεκόμισαν ἅμα ἑαυτοῖς εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν καὶ ἀπέθηκαν ἐκεῖ. | And the men of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, as the LORD told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there. | וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־כֵן בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהֹושֻׁעַ וַיִּשְׂאוּ שְׁתֵּי־עֶשְׂרֵה אֲבָנִים מִתֹּוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ לְמִסְפַּר שִׁבְטֵי בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּעֲבִרוּם עִםָּם אֶל־הַמָּלֹון וַיַּנִּחוּם שָׁם׃ | 8 | ||
| 9 | ἔστησεν δὲ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἄλλους δώδεκα λίθους ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ Ιορδάνῃ ἐν τῷ γενομένῳ τόπῳ ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας τῶν ἱερέων τῶν αἰρόντων τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου, καί εἰσιν ἐκεῖ ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας. | And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day. | וּשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה אֲבָנִים הֵקִים יְהֹושֻׁעַ בְּתֹוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן תַּחַת מַצַּב רַגְלֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים נֹשְׂאֵי אֲרֹון הַבְּרִית וַיִּהְיוּ שָׁם עַד הַיֹּום הַזֶּה׃ | 9 | ||
| 10 | εἱστήκεισαν δὲ οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης ἐν τῷ Ιορδάνῃ, ἕως οὗ συνετέλεσεν Ἰησοῦς πάντα, ἃ ἐνετείλατο κύριος ἀναγγεῖλαι τῷ λαῷ, καὶ ἔσπευσεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ διέβησαν. | For the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to tell the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people passed over in haste; | וְהַכֹּהֲנִים נֹשְׂאֵי הָאָרֹון עֹמְדִים בְּתֹוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן עַד תֹּם כָּל־הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת־יְהֹושֻׁעַ לְדַבֵּר אֶל־הָעָם כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה מֹשֶׁה אֶת־יְהֹושֻׁעַ וַיְמַהֲרוּ הָעָם וַיַּעֲבֹרוּ׃ | 10 | ||
| 11 | καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς συνετέλεσεν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς διαβῆναι, καὶ διέβη ἡ κιβωτὸς τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου, καὶ οἱ λίθοι ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν. | and when all the people had finished passing over, the ark of the LORD and the priests passed over before the people. | וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר־תַּם כָּל־הָעָם לַעֲבֹור וַיַּעֲבֹר אֲרֹון־יְהוָה וְהַכֹּהֲנִים לִפְנֵי הָעָם׃ | 11 | ||
| 12 | καὶ διέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ρουβην καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Γαδ καὶ οἱ ἡμίσεις φυλῆς Μανασση διεσκευασμένοι ἔμπροσθεν τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ, καθάπερ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς Μωϋσῆς. | The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manas'seh passed over armed before the people of Israel, as Moses had bidden them; | וַיַּעַבְרוּ בְּנֵי־רְאוּבֵן וּבְנֵי־גָד וַחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַמְנַשֶּׁה חֲמֻשִׁים לִפְנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֲלֵיהֶם מֹשֶׁה׃ | 12 | ||
| 13 | τετρακισμύριοι εὔζωνοι εἰς μάχην διέβησαν ἐναντίον κυρίου εἰς πόλεμον πρὸς τὴν Ιεριχω πόλιν. | about forty thousand ready armed for war passed over before the LORD for battle, to the plains of Jericho. | כְּאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף חֲלוּצֵי הַצָּבָא עָבְרוּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לַמִּלְחָמָה אֶל עַרְבֹות יְרִיחֹו׃ ס | 13 | ||
| 14 | ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ηὔξησεν κύριος τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἐναντίον παντὸς τοῦ γένους Ισραηλ, καὶ ἐφοβοῦντο αὐτὸν ὥσπερ Μωυσῆν, ὅσον χρόνον ἔζη. | On that day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they stood in awe of him, as they had stood in awe of Moses, all the days of his life. | בַּיֹּום הַהוּא גִּדַּל יְהוָה אֶת־יְהֹושֻׁעַ בְּעֵינֵי כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתֹו כַּאֲשֶׁר יָרְאוּ אֶת־מֹשֶׁה כָּל־יְמֵי חַיָּיו׃ ף | 14 | ||
| 15 | Καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τῷ Ἰησοῖ λέγων | And the LORD said to Joshua, | וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר׃ | 15 | ||
| 16 | Ἔντειλαι τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν τοῖς αἴρουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης τοῦ μαρτυρίου κυρίου ἐκβῆναι ἐκ τοῦ Ιορδάνου. | "Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan." | צַוֵּה אֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִים נֹשְׂאֵי אֲרֹון הָעֵדוּת וְיַעֲלוּ מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן׃ | 16 | ||
| 17 | καὶ ἐνετείλατο Ἰησοῦς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν λέγων Ἔκβητε ἐκ τοῦ Ιορδάνου. | JOSHUA therefore commanded the priests, "Come up out of the Jordan." | וַיְצַו יְהֹושֻׁעַ אֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִים לֵאמֹר עֲלוּ מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן׃ | 17 | ||
| 18 | καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξέβησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ αἴροντες τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου ἐκ τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἔθηκαν τοὺς πόδας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὥρμησεν τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατὰ χώραν καὶ ἐπορεύετο καθὰ ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν δι' ὅλης τῆς κρηπῖδος. | And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, as before. | וַיְהִי [כ= בַּעֲלֹות] [ק= כַּעֲלֹות] הַכֹּהֲנִים נֹשְׂאֵי אֲרֹון בְּרִית־יְהוָה מִתֹּוךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן נִתְּקוּ כַּפֹּות רַגְלֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶל הֶחָרָבָה וַיָּשֻׁבוּ מֵי־הַיַּרְדֵּן לִמְקֹוםָם וַיֵּלְכוּ כִתְמֹול־שִׁלְשֹׁום עַל־כָּל־גְּדֹותָיו׃ | 18 | ||
| 19 | καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἀνέβη ἐκ τοῦ Ιορδάνου δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ πρώτου· καὶ κατεστρατοπέδευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν Γαλγαλοις κατὰ μέρος τὸ πρὸς ἡλίου ἀνατολὰς ἀπὸ τῆς Ιεριχω. | The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they encamped in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. | וְהָעָם עָלוּ מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן בֶּעָשֹׂור לַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשֹׁון וַיַּחֲנוּ בַּגִּלְגָּל בִּקְצֵה מִזְרַח יְרִיחֹו׃ | 19 | ||
| 20 | καὶ τοὺς δώδεκα λίθους τούτους, οὓς ἔλαβεν ἐκ τοῦ Ιορδάνου, ἔστησεν Ἰησοῦς ἐν Γαλγαλοις | And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal. | וְאֵת שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה הָאֲבָנִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר לָקְחוּ מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן הֵקִים יְהֹושֻׁעַ בַּגִּלְגָּל׃ | 20 | ||
| 21 | λέγων Ὅταν ἐρωτῶσιν ὑμᾶς οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν λέγοντες Τί εἰσιν οἱ λίθοι οὗτοι; | And he said to the people of Israel, "When your children ask their fathers in time to come, 'What do these stones mean?' | וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁאָלוּן בְּנֵיכֶם מָחָר אֶת־אֲבֹותָם לֵאמֹר מָה הָאֲבָנִים הָאֵלֶּה׃ | 21 | ||
| 22 | ἀναγγείλατε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν ὅτι Ἑπὶ ξηρᾶς διέβη Ισραηλ τὸν Ιορδάνην | then you shall let your children know, 'Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.' | וְהֹודַעְתֶּם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם לֵאמֹר בַּיַּבָּשָׁה עָבַר יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה׃ | 22 | ||
| 23 | ἀποξηράναντος κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐκ τοῦ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν μέχρι οὗ διέβησαν, καθάπερ ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν, ἣν ἀπεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἔμπροσθεν ἡμῶν ἕως παρήλθομεν, | For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over, | אֲשֶׁר־הֹובִישׁ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֶת־מֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן מִפְּנֵיכֶם עַד־עָבְרְכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לְיַם־סוּף אֲשֶׁר־הֹובִישׁ מִפָּנֵינוּ עַד־עָבְרֵנוּ׃ | 23 | ||
| 24 | ὅπως γνῶσιν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τῆς γῆς ὅτι ἡ δύναμις τοῦ κυρίου ἰσχυρά ἐστιν, καὶ ἵνα ὑμεῖς σέβησθε κύριον τὸν θεὸν ὑμῶν ἐν παντὶ χρόνῳ. | so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty; that you may fear the LORD your God for ever." | לְמַעַן דַּעַת כָּל־עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ אֶת־יַד יְהוָה כִּי חֲזָקָה הִיא לְמַעַן יְרָאתֶם אֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם כָּל־הַיָּמִים׃ ס | 24 | ||
