1Ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει
 But Job answered and said,
Job. Jb.16.1-17.16Then Job answered:וַיַּעַן אִיֹּוב וַיֹּאמַר׃ 1
2Ἀκήκοα τοιαῦτα πολλά·
παρακλήτορες κακῶν πάντες.
 I have heard many such things:
poor comforters are you all.
 "I have heard many such things;
miserable comforters are you all.
שָׁמַעְתִּי כְאֵלֶּה רַבֹּות מְנַחֲמֵי עָמָל כֻּלְּכֶם׃ 2
3τί γάρ; μὴ τάξις ἐστὶν ῥήμασιν πνεύματος;
ἢ τί παρενοχλήσει σοι, ὅτι ἀποκρίνῃ;
 What! is there any reason in vain words?
or what will hinder you from answering?
 Shall windy words have an end?
Or what provokes you that you answer?
הֲקֵץ לְדִבְרֵי־רוּחַ אֹו מַה־יַּמְרִיצְךָ כִּי תַעֲנֶה׃ 3
4κἀγὼ καθ' ὑμᾶς λαλήσω,
εἰ ὑπέκειτό γε ἡ ψυχὴ ὑμῶν ἀντὶ τῆς ἐμῆς·
 I also will speak as you [do]:
if indeed your soul were in my [soul's] stead,
 I also could speak as you do, if you were in my place;
I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you.
גַּם אָנֹכִי כָּכֶם אֲדַבֵּרָה לוּ־יֵשׁ נַפְשְׁכֶם תַּחַת נַפְשִׁי
אַחְבִּירָה עֲלֵיכֶם בְּמִלִּים וְאָנִיעָה עֲלֵיכֶם בְּמֹו רֹאשִׁי׃ 		4
5εἶτ ἐναλοῦμαι ὑμῖν ῥήμασιν,
κινήσω δὲ καθ' ὑμῶν κεφαλήν·
 then would I insult you with words,
and I would shake my head at you.
 I could strengthen you with my mouth,
and the solace of my lips would assuage your pain.
אֲאַמִּצְכֶם בְּמֹו־פִי וְנִיד שְׂפָתַי יַחְשֹׂךְ׃ 5
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his brethren, nor as his mother: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father made, and broke them in pieces: only he was joined to the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the Lord was very angry with the house of Achaab. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Joram son of Achaab reigns over Israel in Samaria twelve years [beginning] in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Then the king of Israel said to Josaphat, I will send forth thy servants and my servants in the ship: but Josaphat would not. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and there was no king in Syria, [but] a deputy. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And king Josaphat made a ship at Tharsis to go to Sophir for gold; but it went not, for the ship was broken at Gasion Gaber. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the remains of the prostitution which they practiced in the days of Asa his father, he removed out of the land: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Now the engagements which Josaphat made with the king of Israel, and all his mighty deeds which he performed, and the enemies whom he fought against, behold [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda? 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and turned not from it, [even] from doing right in the eyes of the Lord: only they removed not [any] of the high places; they sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And in the eleventh year of Ambri Josaphat the son of Asa reigns, [being] thirty-five years old in the beginning of his reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Gazuba, daughter of Seli. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the word of the Lord came to Samaia the man of God, saying, Speak to Roboam king of Juda, and all the house of Juda and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go up, neither shall thou fight with your brethren the sons of Israel: return every man to his house, for this thing is from me. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and they ceased from going up, according to the word of the Lord. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And it came to pass at the beginning of the year, that Roboam gathered all the men of Juda and Benjamin, and went up to fight with Jeroboam at Sikima. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And all the people were dispersed from Sikima, and they departed every one to his tent: and Roboam strengthened himself and departed, and mounted his chariot, and entered into Jerusalem: and there follow him the whole tribe of Juda, and the whole tribe of Benjamin. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the saying pleased Roboam, and he answered the people as the young men, they that were brought up with him, counselled him: and all the people spoke as one man, every one to his neighbour, and they cried out all together, saying, We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jessae: to thy tents, O Israel, every one; for this man [is] not for a prince or a ruler over us. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Roboam rejected their councel, and it pleased him not: and he sent and brought in those who had been brought up with him; and he said to them, Thus and thus has the people sent to me to say: and they that had been brought up this him said, Thus shalt thou speak to the people, saying, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins; my father scourged you with whips, but I will rule you with scorpions. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Roboam said, Bring in to me the elders, and I will take councel with them what I shall answer to the people on the third day. So Roboam spoke in their ears, as the people sent to him [to say]: and the elders of the people said, Thus the people have spoken to thee. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the word of the Lord came to Samaias son of Enlami, saying, Take to thyself a new garment which has not gone into the water, and rend it [into[ twelve pieces; and thou shalt give [some[ to Jeroboam, and shalt say to him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thyself ten pieces to cover thee: and Jeroboam took [them]: and Samaias said, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the ten tribes of Israel. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the people said to Roboam the son of Solomon, Thy father made his yoke heavy upon us, and made the meat of his table heavy; and now thou shalt lighten them upon us, and we will serve thee. And Roboam said to the people, Wait three days, and I will return you an answer: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the woman departed, when she heard this: and it came to pass as she entered into Sarira, that the child died; and there came forth a wailing to meet[ her]. And Jeroboam went to Sikima in mount Ephraim, and assembled there the tribes of Israel; and Roboam the son of Solomon went up thither. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Ano went in to the man of God; and Achia said to her, Why hast thou brought me bread and grapes, and cakes, and a pot of honey? Thus saith the Lord, Behold, thou shalt depart from me, and it shall come to pass when thou hast entered into the city, [even] into Sarira, that thy maidens shall come out to meet thee, and shall say to thee, The child is dead: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will destroy every male of Jeroboam, and there shall be the dead of Jeroboam in the city, [them] the dogs shall eat, and him that has died in the field shall the birds of the air eat, and he shall lament for the child, [saying], Woe is [me], Lord! For there has been found in him some good thing touching the Lord. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the woman arose, and took in her hand bread, and two cakes, and grapes, and a pot of honey, for Achia: and the man [was] old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And she rose up from Sarira and went; and it came to pass when she had come into the city to Achia the Selonite, that Achia said to his servant, Go out now to meet Ano the wife of Jeroboam, and thou thalt say to her, Come in, and stand not [still]: for thus saith the Lord, I send greivous tidings to thee. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Now there was a man in Selom, and his name [was] Achia: and he was sixty years old, and the word of the Lord [was] with him. And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, and take in thine hand loaves for the man of God, and cakes for his children, and grapes, and a pot of honey. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Jeroboam heard in Egypt that Solomon was dead; and he spoke in the ears of Susakim king of Egypt, saying, Let me go, and I will depart into my land; and Susakim said to him, Ask any request, and I will grant it thee. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Susakim gave to Jeroboam Ano the eldest sister of Thekemina his wife, to be his wife: she was great among the daughters of the king, and she bore to Jeroboam Abia his son: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 nd Jeroboam said to Susakim, Let me indeed go, and I will depart. And Jeroboam departed out of Eqypt, and came into the land of Sarira that was in mount Ephraim, and thither the whole tribe of Ephraim assembles, and Jeroboam built a fortress there. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And his young child was sick with a very severe sickness; and Jeroboam went to enquire concerning the child: and he said to Ano his wife, Arise, go enquire of God concerning the child, whether he shall recover from his sickness. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And there was a man of mount Ephraim, a servant of Solomon, and his name [was] Jeroboam; and the name of his mother [was] Sarira, a harlot; and Solomon made him head of the levies of the house of Joseph: and he built for Solomon Sarira in mount Ephraim; and he had three hundred chariots of horses: he built the citadel with the levies of the house of Ephraim; he fortified the city of David, and aspired to the kingdom. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Solomon sought to kill him; and he was afraid, and escaped to Susakim king of Egypt, and was with him until Solomon died. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 So king Solomon sleeps with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Roboam his son reigned in his stead in Jerusalem, being sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twelve years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Naaman, daughter of Ana son of Naas king of the children of Ammon. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked not in the way of David his father. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Then spoke Solomon concerning the house, when he had finished building it - He manifested the sun in the heaven: the Lord said he would dwell in darkness: build thou my house, a beautiful house for thyself to dwell in anew. Behold, is not this written in the book of the song? 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And [there were made] the porches, and the nails, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the golden censers, of pure gold: and the panels of the doors of the innermost part of the house, [even] the holy of holies, and the golden doors of the temple. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And they prepared the stones and the timber [during] three years. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 wide [enough] for the bars, so as to bear the altar with them. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He made the pins of the tabernacle and the pins of the court of brass. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And they put the two golden rings on both the [upper] corners of the oracle; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the ephod opposite [each other] in front. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the emerald stones, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the incense, and the anointing oil, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 These are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Pharao hardened his heart, even on this occasion, and he would not send the people away. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 so Solomon the son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And he reigned over all the kings from the river and the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Solomon had forty thousand brood mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horses. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And these [were] the princes of Solomon; Azariu son of Sadoc the priest, and Orniu son of Nathan chief of the officers, and he went to his house; and Suba the scribe, and Basa son of Achithalam recorder, and Abi son of Joab commander-in-chief, and Achire son of Edrai [was] over the levies, and Banaeas son of Jodae over the household and over the brickwork, and Cachur the son of Nathan [was] counsellor. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he was at peace on all sides round about; and Juda and Israel dwelt safely, every one under his vine and under his fig tree, eating and drinking and feasting, from Dan even to Bersabee, all the days of Solomon. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For he ruled in all the country on this side of the river, from Raphi unto Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the river: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he built Thermae in the wilderness. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And this was the daily provision of Solomon, thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of ground meal, ten choice calves, and twenty oxen from the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides stags, and does, and choice fed birds. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Solomon began to open the domains of Libanus, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And king Solomon was very prudent and wise: and Juda and Israel [were] very many, as the sand which is by the sea for multitude, eating, and drinking, and rejoicing: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Solomon was chief in all the kingdoms, and they brought gifts, and served Solomon all the days of his life. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, He shall not be slain with the sword. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But now do not thou hold him guiltless, for thou [art] a man of understanding, and thou wilt know what thou shalt do to him, and thou shalt bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 he cursed me with a greivous curse in the day when I went into the camp; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And when David was yet living, he charged Solomon, saying, Behold, [there is] with thee Samei the son of Gera, of the seed of Benjamin out of Chebron: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Solomon offered up three whole burnt-offerings in the year, and peace-offerings on the alter which he built to the Lord, and he burnt incense before the Lord, and finished the house. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And these [are] the chief persons who presided over the works of Solomon; three thousand and six hundred masters of the people that wrought the works. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And he built Assur, and Magdo, and Gazer, and upper Baethoron, and Ballath: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 only after he had built the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about, afterwards he built these cities. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 thus the daughter of Pharao went up out of the city of David to her house which he built for her. Then he built the citadel; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Solomon made the sea, and the bases, and the great lavers, and the pillers, and the fountain of the court, and the brazen sea - and he built the citadel as a defence above it, he made a breach in the wall of the city of David; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and he took the daighter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and of the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. In seven years he made and finished them. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand hewers of stone in the mountain: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and thou thyself sittest down to spend the nights in the open air among the corruption of worms,
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and I am a wanderer and a servant from place to place and house to house,
waiting for the setting of the sun,
that I may rest from my labours and my pangs which now beset me;
but say some word against the Lord,
and die.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for, behold, thy memorial is abolished from the earth,
[even your] sons and daughters,
the pangs and pains of my womb which I bore in vain with sorrows;
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Behold, I wait yet a little while,
expecting the hope of my deliverance?
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and [then] revolted from him. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 but [he] had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And Pharao Nechao bound him in Deblatha in the land of Aemath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the Lord said, I will even remove Juda also from my presence, as I have removed Israel, and I have rejected the city which I chose, [even] Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the anger of his fierce wrath, wherewith the Lord was greatly angry against Juda, for all the provocations wherewith Manasses provoked him: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 There was no [king] like him before him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, and all his soul, and all his strength, according to all the law of Moses, and after him there rose up none like him. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And king Josias burnt those who had in them a divining spirit, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and the sodomites which were in the land of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law that were written in the book which Chelcias the priest found in the house of the Lord. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Joshua built the city, and dwelt in it: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Joshua took the knives of stone, wherewith he circumcised the children of Israel that were born in the desert by the way, and put them in Thamnasachar. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and Joshua ceased dividing the land by their borders: 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the children of Israel gave a portion to Joshua because of the commandment of the Lord: they gave him the city which he asked: they gave him Thamnasachar in mount Ephraim; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 This man is described in the Syriac book [as] living in the land of Ausis, on the borders of Idumea and Arabia:
and his name before was Jobab;
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon.
And he himself was the son of his father Zare, one of the sons of Esau, and of his mother Bosorrha, so that he was the fifth from Abraam.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And these were the kings who reigned in Edom, which country he also ruled over:
first, Balac, the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dennaba:
but after Balac, Jobab, who is called Job:
and after him Asom, who was governor out of the country of Thaeman:
and after him Adad, the son of Barad, who destroyed Madiam in the plain of Moab;
and the name of his city was Gethaim.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And [his] friends who came to him were Eliphaz, of the children of Esau, king of the Thaemanites, Baldad sovereign of the Sauchaeans, Sophar king of the Minaeans.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The beginning of a good way is to do justly;
and it is more acceptable with God than to offer sacrifices.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 All of the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness;
and the ungodly [man] is kept for the evil day.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 A son that keeps the commandment shall escape destruction;
for [such an one] has fully received it.

 Let no falsehood be spoken by the king from the tongue;
yes, let no falsehood proceed from his tongue.

 The king's tongue is a sword, and not one of flesh;
and whosoever shall be given up to [it] shall be destroyed:
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for if his wrath should be provoked, he destroys men with cords, and devours men's bones, and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and burns them up as a flame, so that they are not [even] fit to be eaten by the young eagles.
[My] son, reverence my words, and receive them, and repent.
 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 So that He will distinguish between the righteous and the sinner,
[And] recompense the sinners for ever according to their deeds;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And have mercy on the righteous, [delivering him] from the affliction of the sinner,
And recompensing the sinner for what he hath done to the righteous.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For the Lord is good to them that call upon Him in patience,
Doing according to His mercy to His pious ones,
Establishing [them] at all times before Him in strength.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed be the Lord for ever before His servants. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He falleth - verily grievous is his fall - and riseth no more.
The destruction of the sinner is for ever,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And he shall not be remembered, when the righteous is visited. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 This is the portion of sinners for ever. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal,
And their life [shall be] in the light of the Lord, and shall come to an end no more.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are they that fear the Lord in their flawlessness; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord shall deliver them from guileful men and sinners,
And deliver us from every stumbling-block of the lawless [men].		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let God destroy them that insolently work all unrighteousness,
For a great and mighty judge is the Lord our God in righteousness.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon all them that love Thee. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness,
And hereby the blessing of the Lord [becomes] abundance with righteousness.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They that fear the Lord rejoice in good [gifts],
And Your goodness is upon Israel in Your kingdom.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed is the glory of the Lord
for He is our king.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 When his heart is at peace, he singeth to the name of his God,
And he entreateth the Lord for all his house.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the Lord heareth the prayer of every one that feareth God,
And every request of the soul that hopes for Him doth the Lord accomplish.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed is the Lord, who showeth mercy to those who love Him in sincerity. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For Your faithfulness is with us.
And [though] we have stiffened our neck,
yet You are our chastener;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Overlook us not, O our God,
lest the nations swallow us up, as though there were none to deliver.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But You are our God from the beginning,
And upon Thee is our hope [set], O Lord;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And we will not depart from Thee,
For good are Your judgments upon us.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Ours and our children's be Your good pleasure for ever;
O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgments with the mouth of His pious ones;
And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He cleanseth from sins a soul when it maketh confession, when it maketh acknowledgement; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For shame is upon us and upon our faces on account of all these things. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And to whom doth He forgive sins, except to them that have sinned? 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You blessest the righteous, and dost not reprove them for the sins that they have committed;
And Your goodness is upon them that sin, when they repent.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And, now, You are our God, and we the people whom You have loved:
Behold and show pity, O God of Israel, for we are Thine;
And remove not Your mercy from us, lest they assail us.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For You didst choose the seed of Abraham before all the nations, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And didst set Your name upon us, O Lord,
And You will not reject [us] for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You made a covenant with our fathers concerning us;
And we hope in Thee, when our soul turneth [to Thee].		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The mercy of the Lord be upon the house of Israel for ever and ever. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The salvation of the Lord be upon the house of Israel to everlasting gladness! 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The salvation of the Lord be upon Israel His servant for ever; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And let the sinners perish together at the presence of the Lord;
But let the Lord's pious ones inherit the promises of the Lord.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For sins shall lay waste the houses of sinners.
And sinners shall perish for ever in the day of the Lord's judgment,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 When God visiteth the earth with His judgment. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But they that fear the Lord shall find mercy therein,
And shall live by the compassion of their God;
But sinners shall perish for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth;
He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 His words [shall be] more refined than costly gold, the choicest;
In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 His words [shall be] like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed be they that shall be in those days,
In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel!
May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies!
The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 In the fear of God [they pursue] their path every day,
From the day God created them and for evermore.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And they have erred not since the day He created them.
Since the generations of old they have not withdrawn from their path,
Unless God commanded them [so to do] by the command of His servants.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 If thou wouldest open the heaven, trembling will take hold upon the mountains from thee, and they shall melt, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.

 Lord, King,

 Heavenly God,

 to give knowledge of salvation to his people
in the forgiveness of their sins,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 through the tender mercy of our God,
when the day shall dawn upon us from on high		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.

 that we should be saved from our enemies,
and from the hand of all who hate us;

 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has visited and redeemed his people,

 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF ZECHARIAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF SIMEON. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Lord, now lettest you your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for mine eyes have seen your salvation 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And his mercy is on those who fear him
from generation to generation.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 My soul magnifies the Lord, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, spirits and souls of the righteous,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF MARY THE GOD-BEARER. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, you who are holy and humble in heart,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, you servants of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, you sons of men,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, you priests of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, O Israel,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, all beasts and cattle,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, you springs,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, seas and rivers,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, you whales and all creatures that move in the waters,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, all birds of the air,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Let the earth bless the Lord;
let it sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, mountains and hills,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, all things that grow on the earth,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, lightnings and clouds,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, dews and snows,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, nights and days,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, light and darkness,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, ice and cold,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, frosts and snows,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, all winds,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, fire and heat,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Bless the Lord, winter cold and summer heat,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, all rain and dew,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, stars of heaven,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, all waters above the heaven,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, all powers,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, sun and moon,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.

 Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven
and to be sung and glorified for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Bless the Lord, all works of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, you heavens,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bless the Lord, you angels of the Lord,
sing praise to him and highly exalt him for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are you upon the throne of your kingdom
and to be extolled and highly exalted for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 HYMN TO OUR FATHER. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever; And blessed is your glorious, holy name
and to be highly praised and highly exalted for ever;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory
and to be extolled and highly glorified for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are you, who sittest upon cherubim and look upon the deeps,
and to be praised and highly exalted for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And now with all our heart we follow you,
we fear you and seek your face.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Do not put us to shame,
but deal with us in your forbearance
and in your abundant mercy.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Deliver us in accordance with your marvelous works,
and give glory to your name, O Lord!
Let all who do harm to your servants be put to shame;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 let them be disgraced and deprived of all power and dominion, and let their strength be broken. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let them know that you are the Lord, the only God,
glorious over the whole world.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted,
as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls,
and with tens of thousands of fat lambs;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 such may our sacrifice be in your sight this day,
and may we wholly follow you,
for there will be no shame for those who trust in you.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You have given us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful rebels,
and to an unjust king, the most wicked in all the world.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And now we cannot open our mouths;
shame and disgrace have befallen your servants and worshipers.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For your name's sake do not give us up utterly,
and do not break your covenant,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and do not withdraw your mercy from us,
for the sake of Abraham your beloved
and for the sake of Isaac your servant
and Israel your holy one,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 to whom you didst promise
to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven
and as the sand on the shore of the sea.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation,
and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And at this time there is no prince,
or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering,
or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense,
no place to make an offering before you
or to find mercy.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 So all that you have brought upon us,
and all that you have done to us,
you have done in true judgment.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 we have not observed them or done them,
as you have commanded us that it might go well with us.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For you are just in all that you have done to us,
and all your works are true
and your ways right,
and all your judgments are truth.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You have executed true judgments
in all that you have brought upon us
and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers,
for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from you,
and have sinned in all things
and have not obeyed your commandments;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF AZARIAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our fathers,
and worthy of praise; and your name is glorified for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF MANASSE. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and I will not cease blessing you with the psaltery all the days of my life before the house of God. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For they that are in the grave shall not praise you,
neither shall the dead bless you,
neither shall they that are in Hades hope for your mercy.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The living shall bless you, as I also [do]:
for from this day shall I beget children, who shall declare your righteousness,
O God of my salvation;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and removed the sorrow of my soul. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 [Yea], O Lord, for it was told you concerning this;
and you have revived my breath;
and I am comforted, and live.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For you have chosen my soul, that it should not perish:
and you have cast all [my] sins behind me.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 As a swallow, so will I cry,
and as a dove, so do I mourn:
for mine eyes have failed with looking to the height of heaven to the Lord, who has delivered me,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 [My life] has failed from among my kindred:
I have parted with the remainder of my life:
it has gone forth and departed from me,
as one that having pitched a tent takes it down [again]:
my breath was with me as a weaver's web,
when she that weaves draws nigh to cut off [the] thread.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 In that day I was given up as to a lion until the morning:
so has he broken all my bones:
for I was so given up from day [even] to night.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I said, I shall no more at all see the salvation of God in the land of the living:
I shall no more at all see the salvation of Israel on the earth:
I shall no more at all see man.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF HEZEKIAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I said in the end of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave:
I shall part with the remainder of my years.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will joy in God my Saviour.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord God is my strength,
and he will perfectly strengthen my feet;
he mounts me upon high places,
that I may conquer by his song.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For [though] the fig-tree shall bear no fruit,
and there shall be no produce on the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail,
and the fields shall produce no food:
the sheep have failed from the pasture,
and there are no oxen at the cribs;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I watched, and my belly trembled at the sound of the prayer of my lips,
and trembling entered into my bones,
and my frame was troubled within me;
I will rest in the day of affliction,
from going up to the people of my sojourning.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And you dost cause your horses to enter the sea, disturbing much water. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You didst cut asunder the heads of princes with amazement, they shall tremble in it;
they shall burst their bridles, [they shall be] as a poor man devouring in secret.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed:
you shall bring death on the heads of transgressors;
you has brought bands upon [their] neck.
Pause.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The sun was exalted, and the moon stood still in her course:
your darts shall go forth at the light,
at the brightness of the gleaming of your arms.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You will bring low the land with threatening,
and in wrath you will break down the nations.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Was you angry, O Lord, with the rivers?
or [was] your wrath against the rivers,
or your anger against the sea?
for you will mount on your horses,
and your chariots are salvation.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Surely you didst bend they bow at scepters, says the Lord.
Pause.
The land of rivers shall be torn asunder.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The nations shall see you and be in pain,
[as you dost] divide the moving waters:
the deep uttered her voice,
and raised her form on high.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Because of troubles I looked upon the tents of the Ethiopians:
the tabernacles also of the land of Madiam shall be dismayed.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Before his face shall go a report,
and it shall go forth into the plains,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 the earth stood at his feet and trembled:
he beheld, and the nations melted away:
the mountains were violently burst through,
the everlasting hills melted at his everlasting going forth.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And his brightness shall be as light;
[there were] horns in his hands,
and he caused a mighty love of his strength.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 God shall come from Thaeman,
and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan.
Pause.
His excellence covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF HABAKKUK. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 O Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid:
I considered your works, and was amazed:
you shall be known between the two living creatures,
you shall be acknowledged when the years draw nigh;
you shall be manifested when the time is come;
when my soul is troubled, you will in wrath remember mercy.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 When my soul was failing me, I remembered the Lord;
and may my prayer come to you into your holy temple.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of praise and thanksgiving:
all that I have vowed I will pay to you, the Lord of [my] salvation.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They that observe vanities and lies have forsaken their own mercy. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I went down into the earth, whose bars are the everlasting barriers:
yet, O Lord my God, let my ruined life be restored.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Water was poured around me to the soul:
the lowest deep compassed me,
my head went down to the clefts of the mountains;		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You didst cast me into the depths of the heart of the sea,
and the floods compassed me:
all your billows and your waves have passed upon me.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And I said, I am cast out of your presence:
shall I indeed look again toward your holy temple?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF JONAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and said, I cried in my affliction to the Lord my God,
and he listened to me, [even] to my cry out of the belly of hell:
you heard my voice.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Go, my people, enter into your closets,
shut your door, hide yourself for a little season,
until the anger of the Lord have passed away.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The dead shall rise, and they that are in the tombs shall be raised,
and they that are in the earth shall rejoice:
for the dew from you is healing to them:
but the land of the ungodly shall perish.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And as a woman in travail draws nigh to be delivered, [and] cries out in her pain;
so have we been to your beloved.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 We have conceived, O Lord, because of your fear, and have been in pain,
and have brought forth the breath of your salvation, which we have wrought upon the earth:
we shall not fall, but all that dwell upon the land shall fall.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bring more evils upon them, O Lord;
bring more evils on the glorious ones of the earth.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Lord, in affliction I remembered you;
your chastening was to us with small affliction.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 O Lord our God, give us peace:
for you have rendered to us all things.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 O Lord our God, take possession of us:
O Lord, we know not [any] other beside you: we name your name.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 But he dead shall not see life,
neither shall physicians by any means raise [them] up:
therefore you have brought [wrath] upon [them], and slain [them], and have taken away every male of them.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 O Lord, your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not:
but when they know they shall be ashamed:
jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF ISAIAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 which our soul longs for: my spirit seeks you very early in the morning, O God,
for your commandments are a light on the earth:
learn righteousness, you that dwell upon the earth.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For the ungodly one is put down:
no one who will not learn righteousness on the earth, shall be able to do the truth:
let the ungodly be taken away, that he see not the glory of the Lord.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For these things have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Woe [to them] that join house to house,
and add field to field, that they may take away something of their neighbor's:
will you dwell alone upon the land?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And I will forsake my vineyard; and it shall not be pruned, nor dug,
and thorns shall come up upon it as on barren land;
and I will command the clouds to rain no rain upon it.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel,
and the men of Juda [his] beloved plant:
I expected [it] to bring forth judgement, and it brought forth iniquity;
and not righteousness, but a cry.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 What shall I do any more to my vineyard, that I have not done to it?
Whereas I expected [it] to bring forth grapes, but it has brought forth thorns.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard:
I will take away its hedge, and it shall be for a spoil;
and I will pull down its walls, and it shall be [left] to be trodden down.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And now, you dwellers in Jerusalem, and [every] man of Juda,
judge between me and my vineyard.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And I made a hedge round it, and dug a trench,
and planted a choice vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and dug a place for the wine-vat in it:
and I waited [for it] to bring forth grapes, and it brought forth thorns.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 SONG OF ISAIAH. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Now I will sing to [my] beloved a song of my beloved concerning my vineyard.
[My] beloved had a vineyard on a high hill in a fertile place.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord will weaken his adversary;
the Lord [is] holy.
Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
nor let the mighty man boast in his strength,
and let not the rich man boast in his wealth;
but let him that boasts boast in this,
to understand and know the Lord,
and to execute judgement and justice in the midst of the earth.
The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered:
he will judge the extremities of the earth,
and he gives strength to our kings,
and will exalt the horn of his Christ.
And she left him there before the Lord,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 granting his petition to him that prays;
and he blesses the years of the righteous,
for by strength cannot man prevail.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He lifts up the poor from the earth,
and raises the needy from the dunghill;
to seat him with the princes of the people,
and causing them to inherit the throne of glory:		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord makes poor, and makes rich;
he brings low, and lifts up.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord kills and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave, and brings up.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble,
and the weak have girded themselves with strength.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They that were full of bread are brought low;
and the hungry have forsaken the land;
for the barren has born seven,
and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Boast not, and utter not high things;
let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth,
for the Lord [is] a God of knowledge,
and God prepares his own designs.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 My heart is established in the Lord,
my horn is exalted in my God;
my mouth is enlarged over my enemies,
I have rejoiced in your salvation.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For there is none holy as the Lord,
and there is none righteous as our God;
there is none holy besides you.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 PRAYER OF HANNA THE MOTHER OF SAMUEL. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Rejoice, you heavens, with him,
and let all the angels of God worship him;
rejoice you Gentiles, with his people,
and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him;
for he will avenge the blood of his sons,
and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies,
and will reward them that hate him;
and the Lord shall purge the land of his people.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I will make my weapons drunk with blood,
and my sword shall devour flesh,
[it shall glut itself] with the blood of the wounded,
and from the captivity of the heads of [their] enemies that rule over them.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For I will sharpen my sword like lightning,
and my hand shall take hold of judgment;
and I will render judgment to my enemies,
and will recompense them that hate me.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For I will lift up my hand to heaven,
and swear by my right hand,
and I will say, I live for ever.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Behold, behold that I am [he],
and there is no god beside me:
I kill, and I will make to live:
I will smite, and I will heal;
and there is none who shall deliver out of my hands.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 the fat of whose sacrifices you ate,
and you drank the wine of their drink-offerings?
let them arise and help you,
and be your protectors.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and the Lord said, Where are their gods
on whom they trusted?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For the Lord shall judge his people,
and shall be comforted over his servants;
for he saw that they were utterly weakened,
and failed in the hostile invasion, and were become feeble:		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 In the day of vengeance I will recompense,
whenever their foot shall be tripped up;
for the day of their destruction [is] near to them,
and the judgments at hand are close upon you.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Lo! are not these things stored up by me,
and sealed among my treasures?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Their wine [is] the rage of serpents,
and the incurable rage of asps.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom,
and their vine-branch of Gomorrha:
their grape [is] a grape of gall,
their cluster [is] one of bitterness.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For their gods are not as our God,
but our enemies [are] void of understanding.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 How should one pursue a thousand,
and two rout tens of thousands,
if God had not sold them,
and the Lord delivered them up?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They had not sense to understand:
let them reserve these things against the time to come.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 It is a nation that has lost counsel,
neither is there understanding in them.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Were it not for the wrath of the enemy, lest they should live long,
lest their enemies should combine against them;
lest they should say, Our own high arm,
and not the Lord, has done all these things.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I said, I will scatter them,
and I will cause their memorial to cease from among men.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Without, the sword shall bereave them of children,
and terror [shall issue] out of the secret chambers;
the young man shall perish with the virgin,
the suckling with him who has grown old.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 [They shall be] consumed with hunger and the devouring of birds,
and there shall be irremediable destruction:
I will send forth against them the teeth of wild beasts,
with the rage of [serpents] creeping on the ground.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 I will gather evils upon them,
and will fight with my weapons against them.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For a fire has been kindled out of my wrath,
it shall burn to hell below;
it shall devour the land, and the fruits of it;
it shall set on fire the foundations of the mountains.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They have provoked me to jealousy with [that which is] not God,
they have exasperated me with their idols;
and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are no nation,
I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 and said, I will turn away my face from them,
and will show what shall happen to them in the last days;
for it is a perverse generation,
sons in whom is no faith.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And the Lord saw, and was jealous;
and was provoked by the anger of his sons and daughters,		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You have forsaken God that begot you,
and forgotten God who feeds you.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They sacrificed to devils, and not to God;
to gods whom they knew not:
new and fresh [gods] came in,
whom their fathers knew not.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They provoked me to anger with strange gods;
with their abominations they bitterly angered me.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 So Jacob ate and was filled,
and the beloved one kicked;
he grew fat, he became thick and broad:
then he forsook the God that made him,
and departed from God his Saviour.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Butter of cows, and milk of sheep,
with the fat of lambs and rams,
of calves and kids,
with fat of kidneys of wheat;
and he drank wine, the blood of the grape.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He brought them up on the strength of the land;
he fed them with the fruits of the fields;
they sucked honey out of the rock,
and oil out of the solid rock.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 the Lord alone led them,
there was no strange god with them.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 As an eagle would watch over his brood,
and yearns over his young,
receives them having spread his wings,
and takes them up on his back:		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He maintained him in the wilderness,
in burning thirst and a dry land:
he led him about and instructed him,
and kept him as the apple of an eye.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And his people Jacob became the portion of the Lord,
Israel was the line of his inheritance.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 When the Most High divided the nations,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he set the bounds of the nations
according to the number of the angels of God.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Remember the days of old,
consider the years for past ages:
ask your father, and he shall relate to you,
your elders, and they shall tell you.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Do you thus recompense the Lord?
[is the] people thus foolish and unwise?
did not he himself your father purchase you,
and make you,
and form you?		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 They have sinned, not [pleasing] him;
spotted children, a froward and perverse generation.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 [As for God], his works [are] true,
and all his ways [are] judgment:
God [is] faithful,
and there is no unrighteousness [in him];
just and holy [is] the Lord.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For I have called on the name of the Lord:
assign you greatness to our God.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let my speech be looked for as the rain,
and my words come down as dew,
as the shower upon the herbage,
and as snow upon the grass.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Attend, O heaven, and I will speak;
and let the earth hear the words out of my mouth.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 SONG OF MOSES IN DEUTERONOMY. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For the horse of Pharao went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea,
and the Lord brought upon them the water of the sea,
but the children of Israel walked through dry land in the midst of the sea.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord reigns for ever and ever and ever. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance,
in your prepared habitation,
which you, O Lord, have prepared;
the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made ready.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let trembling and fear fall upon them;
by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone;
till your people pass over, O Lord,
till this your people pass over, whom you have purchased.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Then the princes of Edom,
and the chiefs of the Moabites hasted;
trembling took hold upon them,
all the inhabitants of Chanaan melted away.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The nations heard and were angry,
pangs have seized on the dwellers among the Phylistines.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You have guided in your righteousness this your people whom you have redeemed,
by your strength you have called them into your holy resting-place.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You stretched forth your right hand,
the earth swallowed them up.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Who is like to you among the gods, O Lord? who is like to you?
glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty water.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The enemy said, I will pursue,
I will overtake, I will divide the spoils;
I will satisfy my soul,
I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder;
the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces:
you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Your right hand, O God, has been glorified in strength;
thy right hand, O God, has broken the enemies.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He covered them with the sea:
they sank to the depth like a stone.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He has cast the chariots of Pharao and his host into the sea,
the chosen mounted captains:
they were swallowed up in the Red Sea.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 The Lord bringing wars to nought,
the Lord [is] his name.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 He was to me a helper and protector for salvation:
this is my God and I will glorify him;
my father's God, and I will exalt him.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Let us sing to the Lord, for he is very greatly glorified:
horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.		 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.

 Lord God,

 have mercy on us,

 who take away the sins of the world. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Accept our supplication, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 you who sit at the right of the Father, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 have mercy on us. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 For you are the only Holy One, 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 you are the only Lord,

 Grant, O Lord, that in this night 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 we may be kept without sin.

 Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our Fathers,

 and praised and glorified is your name to the ages. Amen.

 Lord, you have become for us a refuge from generation to generation.

 I have said: Lord, have mercy on me,

 heal my soul for I have sinned against you. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 Lord, to you I have fled; 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 teach me to do your will for you are my God.

 For with you is the fountain of life;. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,

 in your light we shall see light. 
6εἴη δὲ ἰσχὺς ἐν τῷ στόματί μου,
κίνησιν δὲ χειλέων οὐ φείσομαι.
 Extend your mercy to those who know you. 
7ἐὰν γὰρ λαλήσω, οὐκ ἀλγήσω τὸ τραῦμα·
ἐὰν δὲ καὶ σιωπήσω, τί ἔλαττον τρωθήσομαι;
 For if I should speak, I shall not feel the pain of my wound:
and if I should be silent, how shall I be wounded the less?
 "If I speak, my pain is not assuaged,
and if I forbear, how much of it leaves me?
אִם־אֲדַבְּרָה לֹא־יֵחָשֵׂךְ כְּאֵבִי וְאַחְדְּלָה מַה־מִנִּי יַהֲלֹךְ׃ 6
8νῦν δὲ κατάκοπόν με πεποίηκεν,
μωρόν, σεσηπότα,
 But now he has made me weary, and a worn-out fool;
and you have laid hold of me.
 Surely now God has worn me out;
he has made desolate all my company.
אַךְ־עַתָּה הֶלְאָנִי הֲשִׁמֹּותָ כָּל־עֲדָתִי׃ 7
9καὶ ἐπελάβου μου, εἰς μαρτύριον ἐγενήθη·
καὶ ἀνέστη ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸ ψεῦδός μου,
κατὰ πρόσωπόν μου ἀνταπεκρίθη.
 My falsehood has become a testimony,
and has risen up against me:
it has confronted me to my face.
 And he has shriveled me up, which is a witness against me;
and my leanness has risen up against me, it testifies to my face.
וַתִּקְמְטֵנִי לְעֵד הָיָה וַיָּקָם בִּי כַחֲשִׁי בְּפָנַי יַעֲנֶה׃ 8
10ὀργῇ χρησάμενος κατέβαλέν με,
ἔβρυξεν ἐπ' ἐμὲ τοὺς ὀδόντας,
βέλη πειρατῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπ' ἐμοὶ ἔπεσεν.
 In his anger he has cast me down;
he has gnashed his teeth upon me:
the weapons of his robbers have fallen upon me.
 He has torn me in his wrath, and hated me;
he has gnashed his teeth at me;
my adversary sharpens his eyes against me.
אַפֹּו טָרַף וַיִּשְׂטְמֵנִי חָרַק עָלַי בְּשִׁנָּיו
צָרִי יִלְטֹושׁ עֵינָיו לִי׃ 		9
11ἀκίσιν ὀφθαλμῶν ἐνήλατο,
ὀξεῖ ἔπαισέν με εἰς σιαγόνα,
ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ κατέδραμον ἐπ' ἐμοί.
 He has attacked me with the keen glances of his eyes;
with his sharp [spear] he has smitten me [down] upon my knees;
and they have run upon me with one accord.
 Men have gaped at me with their mouth,
they have struck me insolently upon the cheek,
they mass themselves together against me.
פָּעֲרוּ עָלַי בְּפִיהֶם בְּחֶרְפָּה הִכּוּ לְחָיָי יַחַד עָלַי יִתְמַלָּאוּן׃ 10
12παρέδωκεν γάρ με ὁ κύριος εἰς χεῖρας ἀδίκου,
ἐπὶ δὲ ἀσεβέσιν ἔρριψέν με·
 For the Lord has delivered me into the hands of unrighteous men,
and thrown me upon the ungodly.
 God gives me up to the ungodly,
and casts me into the hands of the wicked.
יַסְגִּירֵנִי אֵל אֶל עֲוִיל וְעַל־יְדֵי רְשָׁעִים יִרְטֵנִי׃ 11
13εἰρηνεύοντα διεσκέδασέν με,
λαβών με τῆς κόμης διέτιλεν,
κατέστησέν με ὥσπερ σκοπόν.
 When I was at peace he distracted me:
he took me by the hair of the head, and plucked it out:
he set me up as a mark.
 I was at ease, and he broke me asunder;
he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces;
he set me up as his target,
שָׁלֵו הָיִיתִי וַיְפַרְפְּרֵנִי וְאָחַז בְּעָרְפִּי וַיְפַצְפְּצֵנִי
וַיְקִימֵנִי לֹו לְמַטָּרָה׃ 		12
14ἐκύκλωσάν με λόγχαις
βάλλοντες εἰς νεφρούς μου οὐ φειδόμενοι,
ἐξέχεαν εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν χολήν μου·
 They surrounded me with spears, aiming at my reins:
without sparing [me] they poured out my gall upon the ground.
 his archers surround me.
He slashes open my kidneys,
and does not spare; he pours out my gall on the ground.
יָסֹבּוּ עָלַי רַבָּיו יְפַלַּח כִּלְיֹותַי וְלֹא יַחְמֹול יִשְׁפֹּךְ לָאָרֶץ מְרֵרָתִי׃ 13
15κατέβαλόν με πτῶμα ἐπὶ πτώματι,
ἔδραμον πρός με δυνάμενοι.
 They overthrew me with fall upon fall:
they ran upon me in [their] might.
 He breaks me with breach upon breach;
he runs upon me like a warrior.
יִפְרְצֵנִי פֶרֶץ עַל־פְּנֵי־פָרֶץ יָרֻץ עָלַי כְּגִבֹּור׃ 14
16σάκκον ἔρραψα ἐπὶ βύρσης μου,
τὸ δὲ σθένος μου ἐν γῇ ἐσβέσθη.
 They sewed sackcloth upon my skin,
and my strength has been spent on the ground.
 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin,
and have laid my strength in the dust.
שַׂק תָּפַרְתִּי עֲלֵי גִלְדִּי וְעֹלַלְתִּי בֶעָפָר קַרְנִי׃ 15
17ἡ γαστήρ μου συγκέκαυται ἀπὸ κλαυθμοῦ,
ἐπὶ δὲ βλεφάροις μου σκιά.
 My belly has been parched with wailing,
and darkness is on my eyelids.
 My face is red with weeping,
and on my eyelids is deep darkness;
פָּנַי [כ= חֳמַרְמְרָה] [ק= חֳמַרְמְרוּ] מִנִּי־בֶכִי וְעַל עַפְעַפַּי צַלְמָוֶת׃ 16
18ἄδικον δὲ οὐδὲν ἦν ἐν χερσίν μου,
εὐχὴ δέ μου καθαρά.
 Yet there was no injustice in my hands,
and my prayer is pure.
 although there is no violence in my hands,
and my prayer is pure.
עַל לֹא־חָמָס בְּכַפָּי וּתְפִלָּתִי זַכָּה׃ 17
19γῆ, μὴ ἐπικαλύψῃς ἐφ' αἵματι τῆς σαρκός μου,
μηδὲ εἴη τόπος τῇ κραυγῇ μου.
 Earth, cover not over the blood of my flesh,
and let my cry have no place.
 "O earth, cover not my blood,
and let my cry find no resting place.
אֶרֶץ אַל־תְּכַסִּי דָמִי וְאַל־יְהִי מָקֹום לְזַעֲקָתִי׃ 18
20καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἐν οὐρανοῖς ὁ μάρτυς μου,
ὁ δὲ συνίστωρ μου ἐν ὑψίστοις.
 And now, behold, my witness is in heaven,
and my advocate is on high.
 Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven,
and he that vouches for me is on high.
גַּם־עַתָּה הִנֵּה־בַשָּׁמַיִם עֵדִי וְשָׂהֲדִי בַּמְּרֹומִים׃ 19
21ἀφίκοιτό μου ἡ δέησις πρὸς Κύριον,
ἔναντι δὲ αὐτοῦ στάζοι μου ὁ ὀφθαλμός.
 Let my supplication come to the Lord,
and let mine eye weep before him.
 My friends scorn me;
my eye pours out tears to God,
מְלִיצַי רֵעָי אֶל־אֱלֹוהַ דָּלְפָה עֵינִי׃ 20
22εἴη δὲ ἔλεγχος ἀνδρὶ ἔναντι Κυρίου,
καὶ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ.
 Oh that a man might plead before the Lord,
even [as] the son of man with his neighbor!
 that he would maintain the right of a man with God,
like that of a man with his neighbor.
וְיֹוכַח לְגֶבֶר עִם־אֱלֹוהַּ וּבֶן־אָדָם לְרֵעֵהוּ׃ 21
23ἔτη δὲ ἀριθμητὰ ἥκασιν, ὁδῷ δέ,
ᾗ οὐκ ἐπαναστραφήσομαι, πορεύσομαι.
 But my years are numbered and [their end] come,
and I shall go by the way by which I shall not return.
 For when a few years have come
I shall go the way whence I shall not return.		כִּי־שְׁנֹות מִסְפָּר יֶאֱתָיוּ וְאֹרַח לֹא־אָשׁוּב אֶהֱלֹךְ׃ 22
