31'Simon, Simon, take heed: Satan has been given leave to sift all of you like wheat;Peter's Denial Foretold Lk.22.31-34 | Mt.26.31-35 | Mk.14.27-31 | Jn.13.36-38Σίμων Σίμων, ἰδοὺ ὁ Σατανᾶς ἐξῃτήσατο ὑμᾶς τοῦ σινιάσαι ὡς τὸν σῖτον·
32but for you I have prayed that your faith may not fail; and when you have come to yourself, you must lend strength to your brothers.' ἐγὼ δὲ ἐδεήθην περὶ σοῦ ἵνα μὴ ἐκλίπῃ ἡ πίστις σου· καὶ σύ ποτε ἐπιστρέψας στήρισον τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου.
33'Lord,' he replied, 'I am ready to go with you to prison and death.' ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, Κύριε, μετὰ σοῦ ἑτοιμός εἰμι καὶ εἰς φυλακὴν καὶ εἰς θάνατον πορεύεσθαι.
34Jesus said, 'I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow tonight until you have three times over denied that you know me.'
 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, Λέγω σοι, Πέτρε, οὐ φωνήσει σήμερον ἀλέκτωρ ἑως τρίς με ἀπαρνήσῃ εἰδέναι.
