9His disciples asked him what this parable meant,The Purpose of the Parables Lk.8.9-10 (Plain of Gennesaret) | Mt.13.10-17 | Mk.4.10-12Ἐπηρώτων δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ τίς αὑτη εἰη ἡ παραβολή.
10and he said, 'It has been granted to you to know the secrets of the kingdom of God; but the others have only parables, in order that they may look but see nothing, hear but understand nothing.
- seeing they may not see Lk.8.10 | Is.6.9-10ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, Ὑμῖν δέδοται γνῶναι τὰ μυστήρια τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ,
τοῖς δὲ λοιποῖς ἐν παραβολαῖς, ἵνα

βλέποντες μὴ βλέπωσιν καὶ ἀκούοντες μὴ συνιῶσιν.
