10When he was alone, the Twelve and others who were round him questioned him about the parables. The Purpose of the Parables Mk.4.10-12 (Plain of Gennesaret) | Mt.13.10-17 | Lk.8.9-10Καὶ ὅτε ἐγένετο κατὰ μόνας, ἠρώτων αὐτὸν οἱ περὶ αὐτὸν σὺν τοῖς δώδεκα τὰς παραβολάς.
11He replied, 'To you the secret of the kingdom of God has been given, but to those who are outside everything comes by way of parables,  καὶ ἐλεγεν αὐτοῖς, Ὑμῖν τὸ μυστήριον δέδοται τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ· ἐκείνοις δὲ τοῖς ἐξω ἐν παραβολαῖς τὰ πάντα γίνεται,
12so that (as Scripture says) they may look and look, but see nothing; they may hear and hear, but understand nothing; otherwise they might turn to God and be forgiven.'- so that they may indeed see but not perceive Mk.4.12 | Is.6.9-10ἵνα

βλέποντες βλέπωσιν καὶ μὴ ἴδωσιν,
καὶ ἀκούοντες ἀκούωσιν καὶ μὴ συνιῶσιν,
μήποτε ἐπιστρέψωσιν καὶ ἀφεθῇ αὐτοῖς.
