44 | Now the traitor had agreed with them upon a signal: 'The one I kiss is your man; seize him and get him safely away.' | | δεδώκει δὲ ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν σύσσημον αὐτοῖς λέγων, Ὃν ἂν φιλήσω αὐτός ἐστιν· κρατήσατε αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπάγετε ἀσφαλῶς. |

45 | When he reached the spot, he stepped forward at once and said to Jesus, 'Rabbi', and kissed him. | | καὶ ἐλθὼν εὐθὺς προσελθὼν αὐτῷ λέγει, Ῥαββί, καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν. |

46 | Then they seized him and held him fast.
| | οἱ δὲ ἐπέβαλον τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτόν. |

47 | One of the party Or: of the bystanders. drew his sword, and struck at the High Priest's servant, cutting off his ear. | | εἷς δέ τις τῶν παρεστηκότων σπασάμενος τὴν μάχαιραν ἐπαισεν τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτάριον. |

48 | Then Jesus spoke: 'Do you take me for a bandit, that you have come out with swords and cudgels to arrest me? | | καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Ὡς ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξήλθατε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων συλλαβεῖν μὲ; |

49 | Day after day I was within your reach as I taught in the temple, and you did not lay hands on me. But let the scriptures be fulfilled.' | | καθ' ἡμέραν ἠμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων καὶ οὐκ ἐκρατήσατέ με· ἀλλ' ἵνα πληρωθῶσιν αἱ γραφαί. |

50 | Then the disciples all deserted him and ran away.
