16	"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.	Coming Persecutions Mt.10.16-25 (Galilee) \| Mk.13.9-13 \| Lk.21.12-17	Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ὑμᾶς ὡς πρόβατα ἐν μέσῳ λύκων· γίνεσθε οὖν φρόνιμοι ὡς οἱ ὀφεις καὶ ἀκέραιοι ὡς αἱ περιστεραί.
17	Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues,		προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· παραδώσουσιν γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια, καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς·
18	and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles.		καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἑνεκεν ἐμοῦ εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἐθνεσιν.
19	When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour;		ὁταν δὲ παραδῶσιν ὑμᾶς, μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε· δοθήσεται γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὡρᾳ τί λαλήσητε·
20	for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.		οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες ἀλλὰ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν.
21	Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death;		παραδώσει δὲ ἀδελφὸς ἀδελφὸν εἰς θάνατον καὶ πατὴρ τέκνον, καὶ ἐπαναστήσονται τέκνα ἐπὶ γονεῖς καὶ θανατώσουσιν αὐτούς.
22	and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.		καὶ ἐσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὀνομά μου· ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται.
23	When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes.		ὁταν δὲ διώκωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ, φεύγετε εἰς τὴν ἑτέραν· ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ τελέσητε τὰς πόλεις τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ ἑως ἂν ἐλθῃ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου.
24	"A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master;		Οὐκ ἐστιν μαθητὴς ὑπὲρ τὸν διδάσκαλον οὐδὲ δοῦλος ὑπὲρ τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ.
25	it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.		ἀρκετὸν τῷ μαθητῇ ἵνα γένηται ὡς ὁ διδάσκαλος αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὁ δοῦλος ὡς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ. εἰ τὸν οἰκοδεσπότην Βεελζεβοὺλ ἐπεκάλεσαν, πόσῳ μᾶλλον τοὺς οἰκιακοὺς αὐτοῦ.

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.
The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
