 New English Bible Mark:9Novum Testamentum Graece (UBS.Ed.26)

He also said, 'I tell you this: there are some of those standing here who will not taste death before they have seen the kingdom of God already come in power.'
Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him and led them up a high mountain where they were alone; and in their presence he was transfigured; The Transfiguration of Jesus  Mk.9.2-13 (Mount Hermon) - | Mt.17.1-13 | Lk.9.28-36Καὶ μετὰ ἡμέρας ἓξ παραλαμβάνει ὁ Ἰησοῦς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τὸν Ἰάκωβον καὶ τὸν Ἰωάννην, καὶ ἀναφέρει αὐτοὺς εἰς ὀρος ὑψηλὸν κατ' ἰδίαν μόνους.
his clothes became dazzling white, with a whiteness no bleacher on earth could equal.
They saw Elijah appear, and Moses with him, and there they were, conversing with Jesus.
Then Peter spoke: 'Rabbi,' he said, 'how good it is that we are here! Shall we make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah?'
(For he did not know what to say; they were so terrified.)
Then a cloud appeared, casting its shadow over them, and out of the cloud came a voice: 'This is my Son, my Beloved; [Or: This is my only Son.] listen to him.'
And now suddenly, when they looked around, there was nobody to be seen but Jesus alone with themselves.
On their way down the mountain, he enjoined them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
They seized upon those words, and discussed among themselves what this 'rising from the dead' could mean.
And they put a question to him: 'Why do our teachers say that Elijah must be the first to come?'  καὶ ἐπηρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες, Ὁτι λέγουσιν οἱ γραμματεῖς ὅτι Ἠλίαν δεῖ ἐλθεῖν πρῶτον;
He replied, 'Yes, Elijah does come first to set everything right. Yet how is it [Or: Elijah, you say, comes first to set everything right: then how is it ...] that the scriptures say of the Son of Man that he is to endure great sufferings and to be treated with contempt?  ὁ δὲ ἐφη αὐτοῖς, Ἠλίας μὲν ἐλθὼν πρῶτον ἀποκαθιστάνει πάντα, καὶ πῶς γέγραπται ἐπὶ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἵνα πολλὰ πάθῃ καὶ ἐξουδενηθῇ;
However, I tell you, Elijah has already come and they have worked their will upon him, as the scriptures say of him.'
When they came back to the disciples they saw a large crowd surrounding them and lawyers arguing is with them. The Healing of a Boy with an Unclean Spirit Mk.9.14-29 (Mount Hermon) - | Mt.17.14-21 | Lk.9.37-43Καὶ ἐλθόντες πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς εἶδον ὀχλον πολὺν περὶ αὐτοὺς καὶ γραμματεῖς συζητοῦντας πρὸς αὐτούς.
As soon as they saw Jesus the whole crowd were overcome with awe, and they ran forward to welcome him.
He asked them, 'What is this argument about?'  καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτούς, Τί συζητεῖτε πρὸς αὐτούς;
A man in the crowd spoke up: 'Master, I brought my son to you. He is possessed by a spirit which makes him speechless.
Whenever it attacks him, is it dashes him to the ground, and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and goes rigid. I asked your disciples to cast it out, but they failed.'
Jesus answered: 'What an unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long must I endure you? Bring him to me.'
So they brought the boy to him; and as soon as the spirit saw him it threw the boy into convulsions, and he fell on the ground and rolled about foaming at the mouth.
Jesus asked his father, 'How long has he been like this?'
he replied; 'often it has tried to make an end of him by throwing him into the fire or into water. But if it is at all possible for you, take pity upon us and help us.'
'If it is possible!' said Jesus. 'Everything is possible to one who has faith.'
'I have faith,' cried the boy's father; 'help me where faith falls short.'
Jesus saw then that the crowd was closing in upon them, so he rebuked the unclean spirit. 'Deaf and dumb spirit.' he said, 'I command you, come out of him and never go back!'
After crying aloud and racking him fiercely, it came out; and the boy looked like a corpse; in fact, many said, 'He is dead.'
But Jesus took his hand and raised him to his feet, and he stood up.
Then Jesus went indoors, and his disciples asked him privately, 'Why could not we cast it out?'  καὶ εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς οἶκον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ κατ' ἰδίαν ἐπηρώτων αὐτόν, Ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν ἐκβαλεῖν αὐτό;
He said, 'There is no means of casting out this sort but prayer.' [Some witnesses add: and fasting.]
THEY NOW LEFT that district and made a journey so through Galilee. Jesus wished it to be kept secret; Jesus again Foretells his Death and Resurrection Mk.9.30-32 (Mount Hermon) - | Mt.17.22-23 | Lk.9.43-45Κἀκεῖθεν ἐξελθόντες παρεπορεύοντο διὰ τῆς Γαλιλαίας, καὶ οὐκ ἠθελεν ἵνα τις γνοῖ·
for he was teaching his disciples, and telling them, 'The Son of Man is now to be given up into the power of men, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again.'
But they did not understand what he said, and were afraid to ask.
So they came to Capernaum; and when he was indoors, he asked them, 'What were you arguing about on the way?' Who is the Greatest? Mk.9.33-37 (Capernaum) - | Mt.18.1-5 | Lk.9.46-48Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Καφαρναούμ. καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ γενόμενος ἐπηρώτα αὐτούς, Τί ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ διελογίζεσθὲ;
They were silent, because on the way they had been discussing who was the greatest.
He sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, 'If anyone wants to be first, he must make himself last of all and servant of all.'
Then he took a child, set him in front of them, and put his arm round him.
'Whoever receives one of these children in my name', he said, 'receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.'
John said to him, 'Master, we saw a man driving out devils in your name, and as he was not one of us, we tried to stop him.' He Who is Not against Us is for Us Mk.9.38-41 (Capernaum) - | Lk.9.48-50Ἔφη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰωάννης, Διδάσκαλε, εἰδομέν τινα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια, καὶ ἐκωλύομεν αὐτόν, ὅτι οὐκ ἠκολούθει ἡμῖν.
Jesus said, 'Do not stop him; no one who does a work of divine power in my name will be able in the same breath to speak evil of me.
For he who is not against us is on our side.
I tell you this: if anyone gives you a cup of water to drink because you are followers of the Messiah, that man assuredly will not go unrewarded.
'As for the man who leads astray one of these little ones who have faith, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone round his neck.
If your hand is your undoing, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life maimed than to keep both hands and go to hell and the unquenchable fire."
[Some manuscripts add: where the devouring worm never dies and the fire is not quenched.]
And if it is your foot that leads you astray, cut it off; it is better to enter into life a cripple than to keep both your feet and be thrown into hell.
[Some manuscripts add: where the devouring worm never dies and the fire is not quenched.]
And if it is your eye, tear it out; it is better to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than to keep both eyes and be thrown into hell,  καὶ ἐὰν ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε, ἐκβαλε αὐτόν· καλόν σέ ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἐχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν,
where the devouring worm never dies and the fire is not quenched.
- where their worm does not die Mk.9.48 | Is.66.24ὁπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυτα·
'For everyone will be salted with fire.
'Salt is a good thing; but if the salt loses its saltness, what will you season it with?

'Have salt in yourselves; and be [Or: Have the salt of fellowship and be ... ; or: You have the salt of fellowship between you; then be ...] at peace with one another.'
