1 On another occasion when he went to synagogue, there was a man in the congregation who had a withered arm; The Man with a Withered Hand Mk.3.1-6 (Capernaum) - | Mt.12.9-14 | Lk.6.6-11Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πάλιν εἰς τὴν συναγωγήν. καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος ἐξηραμμένην ἐχων τὴν χεῖρα·
2 and they were watching to see whether Jesus would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they could bring a charge against him.  καὶ παρετήρουν αὐτὸν εἰ τοῖς σάββασιν θεραπεύσει αὐτόν, ἵνα κατηγορήσωσιν αὐτοῦ.
3 He said to the man with the withered arm, 'Come and stand out here.'  καὶ λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ τὴν ξηρὰν χεῖρα ἐχοντι, Ἔγειρε εἰς τὸ μέσον.
4 Then he turned to them: 'Is it permitted to do good or to do evil on the Sabbath, to save life or to kill?'  καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθὸν ποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι, ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀποκτεῖναὶ οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων.
5 They had nothing to say; and, looking round at them with anger and sorrow at their obstinate stupidity, he said to the man, 'Stretch out your arm.' He stretched it out and his arm was restored.  καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ' ὀργῆς, συλλυπούμενος ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν, λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρα. καὶ ἐξέτεινεν, καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη ἡ χεὶρ αὐτου '.
6 But the Pharisees, on leaving the synagogue, began plotting against him with the partisans of Herod to see how they could make away with him.
 καὶ ἐξελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι εὐθὺς μετὰ τῶν Ἡρῳδιανῶν συμβούλιον ἐδίδουν κατ' αὐτοῦ ὁπως αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν.
7 JESUS WENT AWAY to the lake-side with his disciples. A Multitude at the Seaside Mk.3.7-12 (Gennesaret) - Καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀνεχώρησεν πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ πολὺ πλῆθος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας [ἠκολούθησεν]· καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας
8 Great numbers from Galilee, Judaea and Jerusalem, Idumaea and Transjordan, and the neighbourhood of Tyre and Sidon, heard what he was doing and came to see him.  καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ περὶ Τύρον καὶ Σιδῶνα, πλῆθος πολύ, ἀκούοντες ὁσα ἐποίει ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.
9 So he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him, to save him from being crushed by the crowd.  καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα πλοιάριον προσκαρτερῇ αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὀχλον ἵνα μὴ θλίβωσιν αὐτόν·
10 For he cured so many that sick people of all kinds came crowding in upon him to touch him.  πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐθεράπευσεν, ὡστε ἐπιπίπτειν αὐτῷ ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἀψωνται ὁσοι εἶχον μάστιγας.
11 The unclean spirits too, when they saw him, would fall at his feet and cry aloud, 'You are the Son of God';  καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα, ὁταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρουν, προσέπιπτον αὐτῷ καὶ ἐκραζον λέγοντες ὅτι Σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ.
12 but he insisted that they should not make him known.
 καὶ πολλὰ ἐπετίμα αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ αὐτὸν φανερὸν ποιήσωσιν.
13 He then went up into the hill-country and called the men he wanted; and they went and joined him. The choosing of the Twelve Mk.3.13-19 (Galilee) - | Mt.10.1-4 | Lk.6.12-16Καὶ ἀναβαίνει εἰς τὸ ὀρος καὶ προσκαλεῖται οὓς ἠθελεν αὐτός, καὶ ἀπῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.
14 He appointed twelve as his companions, whom he would send out to proclaim the Gospel,  καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα, [οὓς καὶ ἀποστόλους ὠνόμασεν,] ἵνα ὦσιν μετ' αὐτοῦ καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν
15 with a commission to drive out devils.  καὶ ἐχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια·
16 So he appointed the Twelve: to Simon he gave the name Peter;  [καὶ ἐποίησεν τοὺς δώδεκα,] καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ὀνομα τῷ Σίμωνι Πέτρον,
17 then came the sons of Zebedee, James and his brother John, to whom he gave the name Boanerges, Sons of Thunder;  καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Ἰακώβου, καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα Βοανηργές, ὁ ἐστιν Υἱοὶ Βροντῆς·
18 then Andrew and Philip and Bartholomew and Matthew and Thomas and James the son of Alphaeus and Thaddaeus and Simon, a member of the Zealot party,  καὶ Ἀνδρέαν καὶ Φίλιππον καὶ Βαρθολομαῖον καὶ Μαθθαῖον καὶ Θωμᾶν καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ἀλφαίου καὶ Θαδδαῖον καὶ Σίμωνα τὸν Καναναῖον
19 and Judas Iscariot, the man who betrayed him.
 καὶ Ἰούδαν Ἰσκαριώθ, ὃς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτόν.
20 He entered a house; and once more such a crowd collected round them that they had no chance to eat. Jesus and Beelzebul Mk.3.20-30 | Mt.12.22-32 | Lk.11.14-23 | Lk.12.10Καὶ ἐρχεται εἰς οἶκον· καὶ συνέρχεται πάλιν [ὁ] ὀχλος, ὡστε μὴ δύνασθαι αὐτοὺς μηδὲ ἀρτον φαγεῖν.
21 When his family heard of this, they set out to take charge of him; for people were saying that he was out of his mind. [Or: of him. 'He is out of his mind', they said.]  καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ παρ' αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθον κρατῆσαι αὐτόν, ἐλεγον γὰρ ὅτι ἐξέστη.
22 The doctors of the law, too, who had come down from Jerusalem, said, 'He is possessed by Beelzebub', and, 'He drives out devils by the prince of devils.'  καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβάντες ἐλεγον ὅτι Βεελζεβοὺλ ἐχει, καὶ ὅτι ἐν τῷ ἀρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια.
23 So he called them to come forward, and spoke to them in parables: 'How can Satan drive out Satan?  καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐν παραβολαῖς ἐλεγεν αὐτοῖς, Πῶς δύναται Σατανᾶς Σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλειν;
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand;  καὶ ἐὰν βασιλεία ἐφ' ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι ἡ βασιλεία ἐκείνη·
25 if a household is divided against itself, that house will never stand;  καὶ ἐὰν οἰκία ἐφ' ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δυνήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἐκείνη σταθῆναι.
26 and if Satan is in rebellion against himself, he is divided and cannot stand; and that is the end of him.
 καὶ εἰ ὁ Σατανᾶς ἀνέστη ἐφ' ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἐμερίσθη, οὐ δύναται στῆναι ἀλλὰ τέλος ἐχει.
27 'On the other hand, no one can break into a strong man's house and make off with his goods unless he has first tied the strong man up; then he can ransack the house.
 ἀλλ' οὐ δύναται οὐδεὶς εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ εἰσελθὼν τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ διαρπάσαι ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον τὸν ἰσχυρὸν δήσῃ, καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσει.
28 'I tell you this: no sin, no slander, is beyond forgiveness for men;  Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πάντα ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων, τὰ ἀμαρτήματα καὶ αἱ βλασφημίαι ὁσα ἐὰν βλασφημήσωσιν·
29 but whoever slanders the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.'  ὃς δ' ἂν βλασφημήσῃ εἰς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἀγιον οὐκ ἐχει ἀφεσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλὰ ἐνοχός ἐστιν αἰωνίου ἀμαρτήματος -
30 He said this because they had declared that he was possessed by an unclean spirit.
 ὁτι ἐλεγον, Πνεῦμα ἀκάθαρτον ἐχει.
31 Then his mother and his brothers arrived, and remaining outside sent in a message asking him to come out to them. The Mother and Brothers of Jesus Mk.3.31-35 (Capernaum) - | Mt.12.46-50 | Lk.8.19-21Καὶ ἐρχεται ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξω στήκοντες ἀπέστειλαν πρὸς αὐτὸν καλοῦντες αὐτόν.
32 A crowd was sitting round and word was brought to him: 'Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.'  καὶ ἐκάθητο περὶ αὐτὸν ὀχλος, καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ, Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἐξω ζητοῦσίν σε.
33 He replied, 'Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?'  καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτοῖς λέγει, Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί [μου];
34 And looking round at those who were sitting in the circle about him he said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers.  καὶ περιβλεψάμενος τοὺς περὶ αὐτὸν κύκλῳ καθημένους λέγει, Ἴδε ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου.
35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother, my sister, my mother.'
 ὃς [γὰρ] ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ θεοῦ, οὗτος ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν.
