katapi HOME The Unknown Day and Hour: Lk.17.26-30  (Mt.24.36-44  Mk.13.32-37  Lk.17.34-36  ) | NEB Index | notes
Luke: 17
26 'As things were in Noah's days, so will they be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They ate and drank and married, until the day that Noah went into the ark and the flood came and made an end of them all. 28 As things were in Lot's days, also: they ate and drank; they bought and sold; they planted and built; 29 but the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and made an end of them all - 30 it will be like that on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
Matthew: 24
36 'But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son, only the Father.
37 'As things were in Noah's days, so will they be when the Son of Man comes. 38 In the days before the flood they ate and drank and married, until the day that Noah went into the ark, 39 and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes. 40 Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken, the other left; 41 two women grinding at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
42 'Keep awake, then; for you do not know on what day your Lord is to come. 43 Remember, if the householder had known at what time of night the burglar was coming, he would have kept awake and not have let his house be broken into. 44 Hold yourselves ready, therefore, because the Son of Man will come at the time you least expect him.
Mark: 13
32 'But about that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son; only the Father.
33 'Be alert, be wakeful. You do not know when the moment comes. 34 It is like a man away from home: he has left his house and put his servants in charge, each with his own work to do, and he has ordered the doo rkeeper to stay a 35 Keep awake, then, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming. 36 Evening or midnight, cock-crow or early dawn - if he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. 37 And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Keep awake.'
Luke: 17
34 'I tell you, on that night there will be two men in one bed: one will be taken, the other left.
35 There will be two women together grinding corn: one will be taken, the other left.' 36 Some manuscripts add: two men in the fields: one will be taken, the other left.

The most generally known harmonies of the Gospels are based upon the Huck-Lietzmann Synopsis (1936) of the three gospels and Sparks' Synopsis (1964) of four gospels.
Many of the passages in these harmonies are too short to display in a useful manner on a web-page.
The katapi New Study Bible Synopsis of the Gospels is based upon the headings displayed in the New Study Bible reference table which in turn follows the headings printed in the United Bible Societies' New Testament in Greek.
These sections are more useful for bible study.
Columns are arranged so that first column is your chosen heading from the bible passage list.
This column is highlighted in light grey.
The harmonies that follow across the web-page are then in the normally accepted order.
For Old Testament references quoted by New Testament authors,
you should either go back to the passage listing web-page and select the link on the 'version' column;
or click on the column heading and search through the chapter for the relevant passage;
than select the OT passage from the reference column.
