katapi HOME The Commissioning of the Twelve: Mt.10.5-15  (Mk.6.7-13  Lk.9.1-6    ) | NEB Index | notes
Matthew: 10
5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: 'Do not take the road to gentile lands, and do not enter any Samaritan town; 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go proclaim the message: "The kingdom of Heaven is upon you." 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out devils. You received without cost; give without charge.
9 'Provide no gold, silver, or copper to fill your purse, 10 no pack for the road, no second coat, no shoes, no stick; the worker earns his keep.
11 'When you come to any town or village, look for some worthy person in it, and make your home there until you leave. 12 Wish the house peace as you enter it, 13 so that, if it is worthy, your peace may descend on it; if it is not worthy, your peace can come back to you. 14 If anyone will not receive you or listen to what you say, then as you leave that house or that town shake the dust of it off your feet. 15 I tell you this: on the day of judgement it will be more bearable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.
Mark: 6
7 he summoned the Twelve and sent them out in pairs on a mission. 8 He gave them authority over unclean spirits, and instructed them to take nothing for the journey beyond a stick: no bread, no pack, no money in their belts. 9 They might wear sandals, but not a second coat. 10 'When you are admitted to a house', he added, 'stay there until you leave those parts. 11 At any place where they will not receive you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet as you leave, as a warning to them.' 12 So they set out and called publicly for repentance. 13 They drove out many devils, and many sick people they anointed with oil and cured.
Luke: 9
1 HE NOW CALLED the Twelve together and gave them power and authority to overcome all the devils and to cure diseases, 2 and sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. 3 'Take nothing for the journey,' he told them, 'neither stick nor pack, neither bread nor money; nor are you each to have a second coat. 4 When you are admitted to a house, stay there, and go on from there. 5 As for those who will not receive you, when you leave their town shake the dust off your feet as a warning to them.' 6 So they set out and travelled from village to village, and everywhere they told the good news and healed the sick.

The most generally known harmonies of the Gospels are based upon the Huck-Lietzmann Synopsis (1936) of the three gospels and Sparks' Synopsis (1964) of four gospels.
Many of the passages in these harmonies are too short to display in a useful manner on a web-page.
The katapi New Study Bible Synopsis of the Gospels is based upon the headings displayed in the New Study Bible reference table which in turn follows the headings printed in the United Bible Societies' New Testament in Greek.
These sections are more useful for bible study.
Columns are arranged so that first column is your chosen heading from the bible passage list.
This column is highlighted in light grey.
The harmonies that follow across the web-page are then in the normally accepted order.
For Old Testament references quoted by New Testament authors,
you should either go back to the passage listing web-page and select the link on the 'version' column;
or click on the column heading and search through the chapter for the relevant passage;
than select the OT passage from the reference column.
