katapi HOME Care and Anxiety: Mt.6.25-34  (Lk.12.22-34      ) | NEB Index | notes
Matthew: 6
25 'Therefore I bid you put away anxious thoughts about food and drink to keep you alive, and clothes to cover your body. Surely life is more than food, the body more than clothes. 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow and reap and store in barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. You are worth more than the birds! 27 Is there a man of you who by anxious thought can add a foot to his height? 28 And why be anxious about clothes? Consider how the lilies grow in the fields; they do not work, they do not spin; 29 and yet, I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendour was not attired like one of these.
30 But if that is how God clothes the grass in the fields, which is there today, and tomorrow is thrown on the stove, will he not all the more clothe you? 31 No, do not ask anxiously, "What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What shall we wear?" 32 All these are things for the heathen to run after, not for you, because your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 Set your mind on God's kingdom and his justice before everything else, and all the rest will come to you as well. 34 So do not be anxious about tomorrow; tomorrow will look after itself. Each day has troubles enough of its own.
Luke: 12
22 'Therefore', he said to his disciples, 'I bid you put away anxious thoughts about food to keep you alive and clothes to cover your body. 23 Life is more than food, the body more than clothes. 24 Think of the ravens: they neither sow nor reap; they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. You are worth far more than the birds! 25 Is there a man among you who by anxious thought can add a foot to his height? 26 If, then, you cannot do even a very little thing, why are you anxious about the rest?
27 'Think of the lilies: they neither spin nor weave; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendour was not attired like one of these. 28 But if that is how God clothes the grass, which is growing in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown on the stove, how much more will he clothe you! How little faith you have! 29 And so you are not to set your mind on food and drink; you are not to worry. 30 For all these are things for the heathen to run after; but you have a Father who knows that you need them. 31 No, set your mind upon his kingdom, and all the rest will come to you as well.
32 'Have no fear, little flock; for your Father has chosen to give you the Kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give in charity. Provide for yourselves purses that do not wear out, and never-failing wealth in heaven, where no thief can get near it, no moth destroy it. 34 For where your wealth is, there will your heart be also.

The most generally known harmonies of the Gospels are based upon the Huck-Lietzmann Synopsis (1936) of the three gospels and Sparks' Synopsis (1964) of four gospels.
Many of the passages in these harmonies are too short to display in a useful manner on a web-page.
The katapi New Study Bible Synopsis of the Gospels is based upon the headings displayed in the New Study Bible reference table which in turn follows the headings printed in the United Bible Societies' New Testament in Greek.
These sections are more useful for bible study.
Columns are arranged so that first column is your chosen heading from the bible passage list.
This column is highlighted in light grey.
The harmonies that follow across the web-page are then in the normally accepted order.
For Old Testament references quoted by New Testament authors,
you should either go back to the passage listing web-page and select the link on the 'version' column;
or click on the column heading and search through the chapter for the relevant passage;
than select the OT passage from the reference column.
