21 ΚΑΤΑ ΜΑΘΘΑΙΟΝ Matthew Reference
1Καὶ ὅτε ἠγγισαν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Βηθφαγὴ εἰς τὸ Ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν, τότε Ἰησοῦς ἀπέστειλεν δύο μαθητὰς THEY WERE NOW nearing Jerusalem; and when they reached Bethphage at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciplesThe Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem Mt.21.1-11 | Mk.11.1-11 | Lk.19.28-38 | Jn.12.12-19
2λέγων αὐτοῖς, Πορεύεσθε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν, καὶ εὐθέως εὑρήσετε ὀνον δεδεμένην καὶ πῶλον μετ' αὐτῆς· λύσαντες ἀγάγετέ μοι. with these instructions: 'Go to the village opposite, where you will at once find a donkey tethered with her foal beside her; untie them, and bring them to me. 
3καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἰπῃ τι, ἐρεῖτε ὅτι Ὁ κύριος αὐτῶν χρείαν ἐχει· εὐθὺς δὲ ἀποστελεῖ αὐτούς. If anyone speaks to you, say, "Our Master needs them"; and he will let you take them at once.' 
4Τοῦτο δὲ γέγονεν ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος, This was in fulfilment of the prophecy which says, 
5Εἴπατε τῇ θυγατρὶ σιών,
Ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεταί σοι,
πραῢς καὶ ἐπιβεβηκὼς ἐπὶ ὄνον,
καὶ ἐπὶ πῶλον υἱὸν ὑποζυγίου.
'Tell the daughter of Zion,
"Here is your king,
who comes to you in gentleness,
riding on an ass,
riding on the foal of a beast of burden." '

6πορευθέντες δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ καὶ ποιήσαντες καθὼς συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed, 
7ἠγαγον τὴν ὀνον καὶ τὸν πῶλον, καὶ ἐπέθηκαν ἐπ' αὐτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια, καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν ἐπάνω αὐτῶν. and brought the donkey and her foal; they laid their cloaks on them and Jesus mounted. 
8ὁ δὲ πλεῖστος ὀχλος ἐστρωσαν ἑαυτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ, ἀλλοι δὲ ἐκοπτον κλάδους ἀπὸ τῶν δένδρων καὶ ἐστρώννυον ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ. Crowds of people carpeted the road with their cloaks, and some cut branches from the trees to spread in his path. 
9οἱ δὲ ὀχλοι οἱ προάγοντες αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἐκραζον λέγοντες,

Ὡσαννὰ τῷ υἱῷ Δαυίδ·
Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου·
Ὡσαννὰ
ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις.

Then the crowd that went ahead and the others that came behind raised the shout:

'Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessings on him who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the heavens!'

10καὶ εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἐσείσθη πᾶσα ἡ πόλις λέγουσα, Τίς ἐστιν οὗτος; When he entered Jerusalem the whole city went wild with excitement. 'Who is this?' people asked,
 
11οἱ δὲ ὀχλοι ἐλεγον, Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ προφήτης Ἰησοῦς ὁ ἀπὸ Ναζαρὲθ τῆς Γαλιλαίας. and the crowd replied, 'This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.'
