When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic oils intending to go and anoint him; The Resurrection of Jesus Mk.16.1-8 | Mk.28.1-10 | Lk.24.1-12 | Jn.20.1-10
καὶ λίαν πρωῒ τῇ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων ἐρχονται ἐπὶ τὸ μνημεῖον ἀνατείλαντος τοῦ ἡλίου. and very early on the Sunday morning, just after sunrise, they came to the tomb.
καὶ ἐλεγον πρὸς ἑαυτάς, Τίς ἀποκυλίσει ἡμῖν τὸν λίθον ἐκ τῆς θύρας τοῦ μνημείοὺ; They were wondering among themselves who would roll away the stone for them from the entrance to the tomb,
καὶ ἀναβλέψασαι θεωροῦσιν ὅτι ἀποκεκύλισται ὁ λίθος, ἦν γὰρ μέγας σφόδρα. when they looked up and saw that the stone, huge as it was, had been rolled back already.
They went into the tomb, where they saw a youth sitting on the right-hand side, wearing a white robe; and they were dumbfounded.
But he said to them, 'Fear nothing; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here; look, there is the place where they laid him.
But go and give this message to his disciples and Peter: "He will go on before you into Galilee and you will see him there, as he told you." '
Then they went out and ran away from the tomb, beside themselves with terror. They said nothing to anybody, for they were afraid.

[At this point some of the most ancient manuscripts bring the book to a close.]

And they delivered all these instructions briefly to Peter and his companions. Afterwards Jesus himself sent out by them from east to west the sacred and imperishable message of eternal salvation.

[Some manuscripts add this paragraph, which in one of them is the conclusion of the book.]

When he had risen from the dead early on Sunday morning he appeared first to Mary of Magdala, from whom he had formerly cast out seven devils.

The Appearance of Mary Magdalene Mk.16.9-11 | Mt.28.9-10 | Jn.20.11-18
ἐκείνη πορευθεῖσα ἀπήγγειλεν τοῖς μετ' αὐτοῦ γενομένοις πενθοῦσι καὶ κλαίουσιν· She went and carried the news to his mourning and sorrowful followers,
κἀκεῖνοι ἀκούσαντες ὅτι ζῇ καὶ ἐθεάθη ὑπ' αὐτῆς ἠπίστησαν. but when they were told that he was alive and that she had seen him they did not believe it.
Μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα δυσὶν ἐξ αὐτῶν περιπατοῦσιν ἐφανερώθη ἐν ἑτέρᾳ μορφῇ πορευομένοις εἰς ἀγρόν· Later he appeared in a different guise to two of them as they were walking, on their way into the country. The Appearance to Two Disciples Mk16.12-13 | Lk.24.13-35
These also went and took the news to the others, but again no one believed them.

Afterwards while the Eleven were at table he appeared to them and reproached them for their incredulity and dullness, because they had not believed those who had seen him risen from the dead. The Commissioning of the Disciples Mk.16.14-18 | Mt.28.16-20 | Lk.24.36-49 | Jn.20.19-23 | Ac.1.6-8
Then he said to them: 'Go forth to every part of the world, and proclaim the Good News to the whole creation.
Those who believe it and receive baptism will find salvation; those who do not believe will be condemned.
σημεῖα δὲ τοῖς πιστεύσασιν ταῦτα παρακολουθήσει· ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου δαιμόνια ἐκβαλοῦσιν, γλώσσαις λαλήσουσιν καιναῖς, Faith will bring with it these miracles: believers will cast out devils in my name and speak in strange tongues;
[καὶ ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν] ὀφεις ἀροῦσιν, κἂν θανάσιμόν τι πίωσιν οὐ μὴ αὐτοὺς βλάψῃ, ἐπὶ ἀρρώστους χεῖρας ἐπιθήσουσιν καὶ καλῶς ἑξουσιν. if they handle snakes or drink any deadly poison, they will come to no harm; and the sick on whom they lay their hands will recover.'

So after talking with them the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and he took his seat at the right hand of God; The Ascension of Jesus Mk.16.19-20
ἐκεῖνοι δὲ ἐξελθόντες ἐκήρυξαν πανταχοῦ, τοῦ κυρίου συνεργοῦντος καὶ τὸν λόγον βεβαιοῦντος διὰ τῶν ἐπακολουθούντων σημείων.]] but they went out to make their proclamation everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed their words by the miracles that followed."

[Some manuscripts give verses 9-20 either instead of, or in addition to, the paragraph - And they delivered ... eternal salvation - (here printed before verse 9), and so bring the book to a close. Others insert further additional matter.]
