| 1 | Ἀπάρας δὲ Ισραηλ, αὐτὸς καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ, ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὸ φρέαρ τοῦ ὅρκου καὶ ἔθυσεν θυσίαν τῷ θεῷ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ Ισαακ. |
| Jacob's family goes to Egypt. Gn.46.1-27 | So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. | וַיִּסַּע יִשְׂרָאֵל וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־לֹו וַיָּבֹא בְּאֵרָה שָּׁבַע וַיִּזְבַּח זְבָחִים לֵאלֹהֵי אָבִיו יִצְחָק׃ |

| | And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob." And he said, "Here am I." | וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמַרְאֹת הַלַּיְלָה וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב יַעֲקֹב וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי׃ |

| | Then he said, "I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation. | וַיֹּאמֶר אָנֹכִי הָאֵל אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךָ אַל־תִּירָא מֵרְדָה מִצְרַיְמָה כִּי־לְגֹוי גָּדֹול אֲשִׂימְךָ שָׁם׃ |

| 4 | καὶ ἐγὼ καταβήσομαι μετὰ σοῦ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ ἐγὼ ἀναβιβάσω σε εἰς τέλος, καὶ Ιωσηφ ἐπιβαλεῖ τὰς χεῖρας ἐπὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς σου. |

| 5 | ἀνέστη δὲ Ιακωβ ἀπὸ τοῦ φρέατος τοῦ ὅρκου, καὶ ἀνέλαβον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸν πατέρα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν ἀποσκευὴν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰς ἁμάξας, ἃς ἀπέστειλεν Ιωσηφ ἆραι αὐτόν, |
| | Then Jacob set out from Beer-sheba; and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. | וַיָּקָם יַעֲקֹב מִבְּאֵר שָׁבַע וַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־יַעֲקֹב אֲבִיהֶם וְאֶת־טַפָּם וְאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶם בָּעֲגָלֹות אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַח פַּרְעֹה לָשֵׂאת אֹתֹו׃ |

| 6 | καὶ ἀναλαβόντες τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν κτῆσιν, ἣν ἐκτήσαντο ἐν γῇ Χανααν, εἰσῆλθον εἰς Αἴγυπτον, Ιακωβ καὶ πᾶν τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ, |
| | They also took their cattle and their goods, which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, | וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־מִקְנֵיהֶם וְאֶת־רְכוּשָׁם אֲשֶׁר רָכְשׁוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ מִצְרָיְמָה יַעֲקֹב וְכָל־זַרְעֹו אִתֹּו׃ |

| 7 | υἱοὶ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ, θυγατέρες καὶ θυγατέρες τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ· καὶ πᾶν τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἤγαγεν εἰς Αἴγυπτον. |
| | his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters; all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt. | בָּנָיו וּבְנֵי בָנָיו אִתֹּו בְּנֹתָיו וּבְנֹות בָּנָיו וְכָל־זַרְעֹו הֵבִיא אִתֹּו מִצְרָיְמָה׃ ס |

| | Now these are the names of the descendants of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. Reuben, Jacob's first-born, | וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמֹות בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַבָּאִים מִצְרַיְמָה יַעֲקֹב וּבָנָיו בְּכֹר יַעֲקֹב רְאוּבֵן׃ |

| 9 | υἱοὶ δὲ Ρουβην· Ενωχ καὶ Φαλλους, Ασρων καὶ Χαρμι. |
| | and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. | וּבְנֵי רְאוּבֵן חֲנֹוךְ וּפַלּוּא וְחֶצְרֹון וְכַרְמִי׃ |

| 10 | υἱοὶ δὲ Συμεων· Ιεμουηλ καὶ Ιαμιν καὶ Αωδ καὶ Ιαχιν καὶ Σααρ καὶ Σαουλ υἱὸς τῆς Χανανίτιδος. |
| | The sons of Simeon: Jemu'el, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanitish woman. | וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעֹון יְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין וְאֹהַד וְיָכִין וְצֹחַר וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן־הַכְּנַעֲנִית׃ |

| 12 | υἱοὶ δὲ Ιουδα· Ηρ καὶ Αυναν καὶ Σηλωμ καὶ Φαρες καὶ Ζαρα· ἀπέθανεν δὲ Ηρ καὶ Αυναν ἐν γῇ Χανααν· ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Φαρες Ασρων καὶ Ιεμουηλ. |
| | The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. | וּבְנֵי יְהוּדָה עֵר וְאֹוןָן וְשֵׁלָה וָפֶרֶץ וָזָרַח וַיָּמָת עֵר וְאֹוןָן בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי־פֶרֶץ חֶצְרֹון וְחָמוּל׃ |

| 15 | οὗτοι υἱοὶ Λειας, οὓς ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ ἐν Μεσοποταμίᾳ τῆς Συρίας, καὶ Διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ· πᾶσαι αἱ ψυχαί, υἱοὶ καὶ θυγατέρες, τριάκοντα τρεῖς. - |
| | (these are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, together with his daughter Dinah; altogether his sons and his daughters numbered thirty-three). | אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי לֵאָה אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָה לְיַעֲקֹב בְּפַדַּן אֲרָם וְאֵת דִּינָה בִתֹּו כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ בָּנָיו וּבְנֹותָיו שְׁלֹשִׁים וְשָׁלֹשׁ׃ |

| 16 | υἱοὶ δὲ Γαδ· Σαφων καὶ Αγγις καὶ Σαυνις καὶ Θασοβαν καὶ Αηδις καὶ Αροηδις καὶ Αροηλις. |
| | The sons of Gad: Ziph'ion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Aro'di, and Are'li. | וּבְנֵי גָד צִפְיֹון וְחַגִּי שׁוּנִי וְאֶצְבֹּן עֵרִי וַאֲרֹודִי וְאַרְאֵלִי׃ |

| 17 | υἱοὶ δὲ Ασηρ· Ιεμνα καὶ Ιεσουα καὶ Ιεουλ καὶ Βαρια, καὶ Σαρα ἀδελφὴ αὐτῶν. υἱοὶ δὲ Βαρια· Χοβορ καὶ Μελχιηλ. |
| | The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beri'ah, with Serah their sister. And the sons of Beri'ah: Heber and Mal'chi-el | וּבְנֵי אָשֵׁר יִמְנָה וְיִשְׁוָה וְיִשְׁוִי וּבְרִיעָה וְשֶׂרַח אֲחֹתָם וּבְנֵי בְרִיעָה חֶבֶר וּמַלְכִּיאֵל׃ |

| 18 | οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ζελφας, ἣν ἔδωκεν Λαβαν Λεια τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ, ἣ ἔτεκεν τούτους τῷ Ιακωβ, δέκα ἓξ ψυχάς. - |
| | (these are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob - sixteen persons). | אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי זִלְפָּה אֲשֶׁר־נָתַן לָבָן לְלֵאָה בִתֹּו וַתֵּלֶד אֶת־אֵלֶּה לְיַעֲקֹב שֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה נָפֶשׁ׃ |

| 19 | υἱοὶ δὲ Ραχηλ γυναικὸς Ιακωβ· Ιωσηφ καὶ Βενιαμιν. |
| | The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin. | בְּנֵי רָחֵל אֵשֶׁת יַעֲקֹב יֹוסֵף וּבִנְיָמִן׃ |

| 20 | ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Ιωσηφ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ, οὓς ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ Ασεννεθ θυγάτηρ Πετεφρη ἱερέως Ἡλίου πόλεως, τὸν Μανασση καὶ τὸν Εφραιμ. ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Μανασση, οὓς ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ ἡ παλλακὴ ἡ Σύρα, τὸν Μαχιρ· Μαχιρ δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γαλααδ. υἱοὶ δὲ Εφραιμ ἀδελφοῦ Μανασση· Σουταλααμ καὶ Τααμ. υἱοὶ δὲ Σουταλααμ· Εδεμ. |
| | And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manas'seh and E'phraim, whom As'enath, the daughter of Poti'phera the priest of On, bore to him. | וַיִּוָּלֵד לְיֹוסֵף בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָה־לֹּו אָסְנַת בַּת־פֹּוטִי פֶרַע כֹּהֵן אֹן אֶת־מְנַשֶּׁה וְאֶת־אֶפְרָיִם׃ |

| 21 | υἱοὶ δὲ Βενιαμιν· Βαλα καὶ Χοβωρ καὶ Ασβηλ. ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Βαλα· Γηρα καὶ Νοεμαν καὶ Αγχις καὶ Ρως καὶ Μαμφιν καὶ Οφιμιν· Γηρα δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αραδ. |
| | And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Na'aman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard | וּבְנֵי בִנְיָמִן בֶּלַע וָבֶכֶר וְאַשְׁבֵּל גֵּרָא וְנַעֲמָן אֵחִי וָרֹאשׁ מֻפִּים וְחֻפִּים וָאָרְדְּ׃ |

| 22 | οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ραχηλ, οὓς ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ· πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ δέκα ὀκτώ. - |
| | (these are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob - fourteen persons in all). | אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי רָחֵל אֲשֶׁר יֻלַּד לְיַעֲקֹב כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר׃ |

| 25 | οὗτοι υἱοὶ Βαλλας, ἣν ἔδωκεν Λαβαν Ραχηλ τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ, ἣ ἔτεκεν τούτους τῷ Ιακωβ· πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἑπτά. - |
| | (these are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob - seven persons in all). | אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי בִלְהָה אֲשֶׁר־נָתַן לָבָן לְרָחֵל בִּתֹּו וַתֵּלֶד אֶת־אֵלֶּה לְיַעֲקֹב כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ שִׁבְעָה׃ |

| 26 | πᾶσαι δὲ ψυχαὶ αἱ εἰσελθοῦσαι μετὰ Ιακωβ εἰς Αἴγυπτον, οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐκ τῶν μηρῶν αὐτοῦ, χωρὶς τῶν γυναικῶν υἱῶν Ιακωβ, πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ ἑξήκοντα ἕξ. |
| | All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own offspring, not including Jacob's sons' wives, were sixty-six persons in all; | כָּל־הַנֶּפֶשׁ הַבָּאָה לְיַעֲקֹב מִצְרַיְמָה יֹצְאֵי יְרֵכֹו מִלְּבַד נְשֵׁי בְנֵי־יַעֲקֹב כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ שִׁשִּׁים וָשֵׁשׁ׃ |

| 27 | υἱοὶ δὲ Ιωσηφ οἱ γενόμενοι αὐτῷ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ψυχαὶ ἐννέα. πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ οἴκου Ιακωβ αἱ εἰσελθοῦσαι εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε. |
| | and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two; all the persons of the house of Jacob, that came into Egypt, were seventy. | וּבְנֵי יֹוסֵף אֲשֶׁר־יֻלַּד־לֹו בְמִצְרַיִם נֶפֶשׁ שְׁנָיִם כָּל־הַנֶּפֶשׁ לְבֵית־יַעֲקֹב הַבָּאָה מִצְרַיְמָה שִׁבְעִים׃ ף |

| 28 | Τὸν δὲ Ιουδαν ἀπέστειλεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ πρὸς Ιωσηφ συναντῆσαι αὐτῷ καθ' Ἡρώων πόλιν εἰς γῆν Ραμεσση. |

| | Then Joseph made ready his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen; and he presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. | וַיֶּאְסֹר יֹוסֵף מֶרְכַּבְתֹּו וַיַּעַל לִקְרַאת־יִשְׂרָאֵל אָבִיו גֹּשְׁנָה וַיֵּרָא אֵלָיו וַיִּפֹּל עַל־צַוָּארָיו וַיֵּבְךְּ עַל־צַוָּארָיו עֹוד׃ |

| 30 | καὶ εἶπεν Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσηφ Ἀποθανοῦμαι ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν, ἐπεὶ ἑώρακα τὸ πρόσωπόν σου· ἔτι γὰρ σὺ ζῇς. |
| | Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive." | וַיֹּאמֶר יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־יֹוסֵף אָמוּתָה הַפָּעַם אַחֲרֵי רְאֹותִי אֶת־פָּנֶיךָ כִּי עֹודְךָ חָי׃ |

| 31 | εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ Ἀναβὰς ἀπαγγελῶ τῷ Φαραω καὶ ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ ὁ οἶκος τοῦ πατρός μου, οἳ ἦσαν ἐν γῇ Χανααν, ἥκασιν πρός με· |
| | Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, "I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and will say to him, 'My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me; | וַיֹּאמֶר יֹוסֵף אֶל־אֶחָיו וְאֶל־בֵּית אָבִיו אֶעֱלֶה וְאַגִּידָה לְפַרְעֹה וְאֹמְרָה אֵלָיו אַחַי וּבֵית־אָבִי אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ־כְּנַעַן בָּאוּ אֵלָי׃ |

| 32 | οἱ δὲ ἄνδρες εἰσὶν ποιμένες - ἄνδρες γὰρ κτηνοτρόφοι ἦσαν - καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ τοὺς βόας καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτῶν ἀγειόχασιν. |
| | and the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.' | וְהָאֲנָשִׁים רֹעֵי צֹאן כִּי־אַנְשֵׁי מִקְנֶה הָיוּ וְצֹאנָם וּבְקָרָם וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר לָהֶם הֵבִיאוּ׃ |

| 33 | ἐὰν οὖν καλέσῃ ὑμᾶς Φαραω καὶ εἴπῃ ὑμῖν Τί τὸ ἔργον ὑμῶν ἐστιν; |
| | When Pharaoh calls you, and says, 'What is your occupation?' | וְהָיָה כִּי־יִקְרָא לָכֶם פַּרְעֹה וְאָמַר מַה־מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶם׃ |

| 34 | ἐρεῖτε Ἄνδρες κτηνοτρόφοι ἐσμὲν οἱ παῖδές σου ἐκ παιδὸς ἕως τοῦ νῦν, καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, ἵνα κατοικήσητε ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ Ἀραβίᾳ· βδέλυγμα γάρ ἐστιν Αἰγυπτίοις πᾶς ποιμὴν προβάτων. |
| | you shall say, 'Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,' in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians." | וַאֲמַרְתֶּם אַנְשֵׁי מִקְנֶה הָיוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ מִנְּעוּרֵינוּ וְעַד־עַתָּה גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּ גַּם־אֲבֹתֵינוּ בַּעֲבוּר תֵּשְׁבוּ בְּאֶרֶץ גֹּשֶׁן כִּי־תֹועֲבַת מִצְרַיִם כָּל־רֹעֵה צֹאן׃ |
