1Ascenditque angelus Domini de Galgalis ad Locum flentium, et ait : Eduxi vos de Ægypto, et introduxi in terram, pro qua juravi patribus vestris : et pollicitus sum ut non facerem irritum pactum meum vobiscum in sempiternum : And the aungel of the Lord stiede fro Galgala to the place of weperis, and seide, Y ledde you out of Egipt, and Y brouyte you in to the lond, for which Y swoor to youre fadris, and bihiyte, that Y schulde not make void my couenaunt with you in to with outen ende; And an angel of the Lord went up from Galgal to the place of weepers, and said: I made you go out of Egypt, and have brought you into the land for which I swore to your fathers: and I promised that I would not make void my covenant with you for ever: Bochim. Jdg.2.1-5
2ita dumtaxat ut non feriretis fœdus cum habitatoribus terræ hujus, sed aras eorum subverteretis: et noluistis audire vocem meam: cur hoc fecistis? so oneli that ye schulde not smyte boond of pees with the dwelleris of this lond, and schulden distrie the auteris of hem; and ye nolden here my vois. Whi diden ye these thingis? On condition that you should not make a league with the inhabitants of this land, but should throw down their altars: and you would not hear my voice: why have you done this?  
3Quam ob rem nolui delere eos a facie vestra: ut habeatis hostes, et dii eorum sint vobis in ruinam. Wherfore Y nolde do hem awei fro youre face, that ye haue enemyes, and that the goddis of hem be to you in to fallyng. Wherefore I would not destroy them from before your face: that you may have enemies, and their gods may be your ruin.  
4Cumque loqueretur angelus Domini hæc verba ad omnes filios Israël, elevaverunt ipsi vocem suam, et fleverunt. And whanne the aungel of the Lord spak these wordis to alle the sones of Israel, thei reisiden her vois, and wepten; and the name of that place was clepid, And when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, they lifted up their voice, and wept.  
5Et vocatum est nomen loci illius, Locus flentium, sive lacrimarum: immolaveruntque ibi hostias Domini. of weperis, ether of teeris; and thei offriden there sacrifices to the Lord. And the name of that place was called, The place of weepers, or of tears: and there they offered sacrifices to the Lord.
