16Sed et Maacham matrem Asa regis ex augusto deposuit imperio, eo quod fecisset in luco simulacrum Priapi: quod omne contrivit, et in frustra comminuens combussit in torrente Cedron. But also he puttide doun Maacha, the modir of Asa the kyng, fro the streit empire, for sche hadde made in a wode the symylacre, ether licnesse, of a mannus yerde; and he al tobrak al that symylacre, and pownede it in to gobetis, and brente it in the stronde of Cedron. Moreover Maacha the mother of king Asa he deposed from the royal authority, because she had made in a grove an idol of Priapus: and he entirely destroyed it, and breaking it into pieces, burnt it at the torrent Cedron.  
17Excelsa autem derelicta sunt in Israël: attamen cor Asa erat perfectum cunctis diebus ejus, But hiy places weren left in Israel; netheles the herte of Asa was riytful in alle hise daies. But high places were left in Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

3Fœdus inter me et te est; pater quoque meus et pater tuus habuere concordiam: quam ob rem misi tibi argentum et aurum, ut rupto fœdere quod habes cum Baasa rege Israël, facias eum a me recedere. and seide, Boond of pees is bitwixe me and thee, and my fadir and thi fadir hadden acordyng; wherfor Y sente to thee siluer and gold, that whanne thou hast broke the boond of pees, which thou hast with Baasa, king of Israel, thou make hym to go awei fro me. There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father, wherefore I have sent thee silver and gold, that thou mayst break thy league with Baasa king of Israel, and make him depart from me.  
4Quo comperto, Benadad misit principes exercituum suorum ad urbes Israël: qui percusserunt Ahion, et Dan, et Abelmaim, et universas urbes Nephthali muratas. And whanne this was foundun, Benadab sente princes of hise oostis to the citees of Israel, whiche smytiden Ahion, and Dan, and Abelmaym, and alle the wallid citees of Neptalym. And then Benadad heard this, he sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel: and they took Ahion, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the walled cities of Nephtali.  
5Quod cum audisset Baasa, desiit ædificare Rama, et intermisit opus suum. And whanne Baasa hadde herd this, he ceesside to bilde Rama, and left his werk. And when Baasa heard of it, he left off the building of Rama, and interrupted his work.  
6Porro Asa rex assumpsit universum Judam, et tulerunt lapides de Rama, et ligna quæ ædificationi præparaverat Baasa, ædificavitque ex eis Gabaa et Maspha. Forsothe kyng Asa took al Juda, and thei token fro Rama the stonys and trees, whiche Baasa hadde maad redi to bildyng; and he bildide of tho Gabaa, and Maspha. Then king Asa took all Juda, and they carried away from Rama the stones, and the timber that Baasa had prepared for the building: and he built with them Gabaa, and Maspha.
