| 30 | Ascenditque Lot de Segor, et mansit in monte, duæ quoque filiæ ejus cum eo (timuerat enim manere in Segor) et mansit in spelunca ipse, et duæ filiæ ejus cum eo. |
And Loth stiede fro Segor, and dwellide in the hil, and hise twey douytris with him, for he dredde to dwelle in Segor; and he dwellide in a denne, he and his twey douytris with hym. |
And Lot went up out of Segor, and abode in the mountain, and his two daughters with him, (for he was afraid to stay in Segor,) and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters with him. | Generations - Lot. Gn.19.30-38 |
| 31 | Dixitque major ad minorem: Pater noster senex est, et nullus virorum remansit in terra, qui possit ingredi ad nos juxta morem universæ terræ. |
And the more douytre seide to the lasse, Oure fadre is eld, and no man is left in erthe, that may entre to vs, bi the custom of al erthe; |
And the elder said to the younger Our father is old, and there is no man left on the earth, to come in unto us after the manner of the whole earth. | |
| 32 | Veni, inebriemus eum vino, dormiamusque cum eo, ut servare possimus ex patre nostro semen. |
come thou, make we him drunkun of wyn, and slepe we with him, that we moun kepe seed of oure fadir. |
Come, let us make him drunk with wine, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. | |
| 33 | Dederunt itaque patri suo bibere vinum nocte illa. Et ingressa est major, dormivitque cum patre; at ille non sensit, nec quando accubuit filia, nec quando surrexit. |
And so thei yauen to her fadir to drynke wyn in that nyyt, and the more douyter entrede, and slepte with hir fadir; and he feelide not, nethir whanne the douytir lay doun, nether whanne sche roos. |
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the elder went in and lay with her father : but he perceived not neither when his daughter lay down, nor when she rose up. | |
| 34 | Altera quoque die dixit major ad minorem: Ecce dormivi heri cum patre meo, demus ei bibere vinum etiam hac nocte, et dormies cum eo, ut salvemus semen de patre nostro. |
And in the tothir dai the more douytir seide to the lasse, Lo! Y slepte yistirdai with my fadir, yyue we to hym to drynk wyn also in this nyyt; and thou schalt slepe with hym, that we saue seed of oure fadir. |
And the next day the elder said to the younger : Behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine also to night, and thou shalt lie with him, that we may save seed of our father. | |
| 35 | Dederunt etiam et illa nocte patri suo bibere vinum, ingressaque minor filia, dormivit cum eo: et ne tunc quidem sensit quando concubuerit, vel quando illa surrexerit. |
And thei yauen to her fadir also in that nyyt to drynke wyn, and the lesse douytir entride, and slepte with him; and sotheli he feelide not thanne whanne sche lay doun, nether whanne sche roos. |
They made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in, and lay with him: and neither then did he perceive when she lay down, nor when she rose up. | |
| 36 | Conceperunt ergo duæ filiæ Lot de patre suo. |
Therfor the twei douytris of Loth conseyuede of hir fadir. |
the two daughters of Lot were with child by their father. | |
| 37 | Peperitque major filium, et vocavit nomen ejus Moab: ipse est pater Moabitarum usque in præsentem diem. |
And the more douytre childide a sone, and clepide his name Moab; he is the fadir of men of Moab til in to present dai. |
And the elder bore a son, and called his name Moab: he is the father of the Moabites unto this day. | |
| 38 | Minor quoque peperit filium, et vocavit nomen ejus Ammon, id est, Filius populi mei: ipse est pater Ammonitarum usque hodie. |
And the lesse douyter childide a sone, and clepide his name Amon, that is, the sone of my puple; he is the fadir of men of Amon til to day. |
The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ammon, that is, the son of my people: he is the father of the Ammonites unto this day. | |
