||Reversus est autem Josaphat rex Juda in domum suam pacifice in Jerusalem.
||Forsothe Josaphat, kyng of Juda, turnede ayen pesibli in to his hows in to Jerusalem.
||And Josaphat king of Juda returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
||The prophet Jehu reprimands Jehoshaphat. 2Chr.19.1-3
||Cui occurrit Jehu filius Henani videns, et ait ad eum: Impio pr?bes auxilium, et his qui oderunt Dominum amicitia jungeris, et idcirco iram quidem Domini merebaris:
||Whom the profete Hieu, the sone of Ananye, mette, and seide to hym, Thou yyuest help to a wickid man, and thou art ioyned bi frendschip to hem that haten the Lord; and therfor sotheli thou deseruedist the wraththe of the Lord;
||And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer met him, and said to him: Thou helpest the ungodly, and thou art joined in friendship with them that hate the Lord, and therefore thou didst deserve indeed the wrath of the Lord:
||sed bona opera inventa sunt in te, eo quod abstuleris lucos de terra Juda, et pr?paraveris cor tuum ut requireres Dominum Deum patrum tuorum.
||but good werkis ben foundyn in thee, for thou didist awey wodis fro the lond of Juda, and thou hast maad redi thin herte, for to seke the Lord God of thi fadris.
||But good works are found in thee, because thou hast taken away the groves out of the land of Juda, and hast prepared thy heart to seek the Lord the God of thy fathers.
||Habitavit ergo Josaphat in Jerusalem, rursumque egressus est ad populum de Bersabee usque ad montem Ephraim, et revocavit eos ad Dominum Deum patrum suorum.
||Therfor Josaphat dwellide in Jerusalem; and eft he yede out to the puple fro Bersabee til to the hil of Effraym, and he clepide hem ayen to the Lord God of her fadris.
||And Josaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again to the people from Bersabee to mount Ephraim, and brought them back to the Lord the God of their fathers.
||Jehoshaphat's reforms. 2Chr.19.4-11
||Constituitque judices terr? in cunctis civitatibus Juda munitis per singula loca,
||And he ordeynede iugis of the lond in alle the strengthid citees of Juda, bi ech place.
||And he set judges of the land in all the fenced cities of Juda, in every place.
||et pr?cipiens judicibus: Videte, ait, quid faciatis: non enim hominis exercetis judicium, sed Domini: et quodcumque judicaveritis, in vos redundabit.
||And he comaundide to the iugis, and seide, Se ye, what ye doen; for ye vsen not the doom of man, but of the Lord; and what euere thing ye demen, schal turne in to you;
||And charging the judges, he said: Take heed what you do: for you exercise not the judgment of man, but of the Lord: and whatsoever you judge, it shall redound to you.
||Sit timor Domini vobiscum, et cum diligentia cuncta facite: non est enim apud Dominum Deum nostrum iniquitas, nec personarum acceptio, nec cupido munerum.
||the drede of the Lord be with you, and do ye alle thingis with diligence; for anentis youre Lord God is no wickidnesse, nether takynge of persoones, nether coueitise of yiftis.
||Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, a nor respect of persons, nor desire of gifts.
||In Jerusalem quoque constituit Josaphat Levitas, et sacerdotes, et principes familiarum ex Isra?l, ut judicium et causam Domini judicarent habitatoribus ejus.
||Also in Jerusalem Josaphat ordeynede dekenes, and preestis, and the princes of meynees of Israel, that thei schulden deme the doom and cause of the Lord to the dwellers of it.
||In Jerusalem also Josaphat appointed Levites, and priests and chiefs of the families of Israel, to judge the judgment and the cause of the Lord for the inhabitants thereof.
||Pr?cepitque eis, dicens: Sic agetis in timore Domini fideliter et corde perfecto.
||And he comaundide to hem, and seide, Thus ye schulen do in the drede of the Lord, feithfuli and in perfite herte.
||And he charged them, saying: Thus shall you do in the fear of the Lord faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
||Omnem causam, qu? venerit ad vos fratrum vestrorum, qui habitant in urbibus suis inter cognationem et cognationem, ubicumque qu?stio est de lege, de mandato, de c?remoniis, de justificationibus: ostendite eis, ut non peccent in Dominum, et ne veniat ira super vos et super fratres vestros: sic ergo agentes non peccabitis.
||Ech cause that cometh to you of youre britheren, that dwellen in her citees, bitwixe kynrede and kynrede, where euere is questioun of the lawe, of the comaundement, of cerymonyes, ether sacrifices, of iustifyingis, schewe ye to hem, that thei do not synne ayens the Lord, and that wraththe com not on you and on youre britheren. Therfor ye doynge thus schulen not do synne.
||Every cause that shall come to you of your brethren, that dwell in their cities, between kindred and kindred, wheresoever there is question concerning the law, the commandment, the ceremonies, the justifications: shew it them, that they may not sin against the Lord, and that wrath may not come upon you and your brethren: and so doing you shall not sin.
||Amarias autem sacerdos et pontifex vester in his, qu? ad Deum pertinent, pr?sidebit: porro Zabadias filius Ismahel, qui est dux in domo Juda, super ea opera erit, qu? ad regis officium pertinent: habetisque magistros Levitas coram vobis. Confortamini, et agite diligenter, et erit Dominus vobiscum in bonis.
||Forsothe Amarie, youre preest and bischop, schal be souereyn in these thingis, that perteynen to God. Sotheli Zabadie, the sone of Ismael, which is duyk in the hows of Juda, schal be on tho werkis that perteynen to the office of the kyng, and ye han maistris dekenes bifor you; be ye coumfortid, and do ye diligentli, and the Lord schal be with you in goodis.
||And Amarias the priest your high priest shell be chief in the things which regard God: and Zabadias the son of Ismahel, who is ruler in the house of Juda, shall be over those matters which belong to the king's office : and you have before you the Levites for masters, take courage and do diligently, and the Lord will be with you in good things.
