katapi HOME Hebrews 1:5-14 - The Son Superior to Angels  Hb.1.5-14- , | KNSB Contents | notes
1 5 For to what angel did God ever say,
"You are my Son,
today I have begotten you"?
Or again,
"I will be to him a father,
and he shall be to me a son"?
1 6 [ Dt.32.43, Ps.97.7. ] And again, when he brings the first-born into the world, he says,
"Let all God's angels worship him."
1 7 [ Ps.104.4. ] Of the angels he says,
"Who makes his angels winds,
and his servants flames of fire."
1 8 [ Ps.45.6-7. ] But of the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever,
the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.
1 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your comrades."
1 10 [ Ps.102.25-27. ] And,
"You, Lord, founded the earth in the beginning,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;
1 11 they will perish, but you remain;
they will all grow old like a garment,
1 12 like a mantle you will roll them up,
and they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end."
1 13 [ Ps.110.1. ] But to what angel has he ever said,
"Sit at my right hand,
till I make your enemies a stool for your feet"?
1 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of all those who are to obtain salvation.
