katapi HOME Philippians 2:1-11 - Christian Humility and Christ's Humility  Php.2.1-11

2 1 IF THEN our common life in Christ yields anything to stir the heart, any loving consolation, any sharing of the Spirit, any warmth of affection or compassion, 2 2 fill up my cup of happiness by thinking and feeling alike, with the same love for one another, the same turn of mind, and a common care for unity. 2 3 There must be no room for rivalry and personal vanity among you, but you must humbly reckon others better than yourselves. 2 4 Look to each other's interest and not merely to your own.
2 5 Let your bearing towards one another arise out of your life in Christ Jesus. Or: Have that bearing towards one another which was also found in Christ Jesus.
2 6 For the divine nature was his from the first;
yet he did not think to snatch at equality with God, Or: yet he did not prize his equality with God.
2 7 but made himself nothing, assuming the nature of a slave.

Bearing the human likeness,
2 8 revealed in human shape,
he humbled himself,
and in obedience accepted even death—
death on a cross.

2 9 Therefore God raised him to the heights
and bestowed on him the name above all names,
2 10 [ Is.45.23. ] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow—
in heaven, on earth, and in the depths—
2 11 and every tongue confess, 'Jesus Christ is Lord',
to the glory of God the Father.
