katapi HOME Acts 4:23-31 - The Believers Pray for Boldness  Ac.4.23-31 (Jerusalem)

4 23 As soon as they were discharged they went back to their friends and told them everything that the chief priests and elders had said. 4 24 [ Ex.20.11, Ps.146.6, Is.37.16. ] When they heard it, they raised their voices as one man and called upon God:
'Sovereign Lord, maker of heaven and earth and sea and of everything in them, 4 25 [ Ps.2.1-2. ] who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of David thy servant, didst say,

"Why did the Gentiles rage and the peoples lay their plots in vain?
4 26 The kings of the earth took their stand and the rulers made common cause
Against the Lord and against his Messiah."
4 27 They did indeed make common cause in this very city against thy holy servant Jesus whom thou didst anoint as Messiah. Herod and Pontius Pilate conspired with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel 4 28 to do all the things which, under thy hand and by thy decree, were fore-ordained. 4 29 And now, O Lord, mark their threats, and enable thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness. 4 30 Stretch out thy hand to heal and cause signs and wonders to be done through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.'
4 31 When they had ended their prayer, the building where they were assembled rocked, and all were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.
