16 25 'Till now I have been using figures of speech; a time is coming when I shall no longer use figures, but tell you of the Father in plain words. 16 26 When that day comes you will make your request in my name, and I do not say that I shall pray to the Father for you, 16 27 for the Father loves you himself, because you have loved me and believed that I came from God. 16 28 I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.'
16 29 His disciples said, 'Why, this is plain speaking; this is no figure of speech. 16 30 We are certain now that you know everything, and do not need to be questioned; because of this we believe that you have come from God.' 16 31 Jesus answered, 'Do you now believe? 16 32 Look, Or: At the moment you believe, but look ... the hour is coming, has indeed already come, when you are all to be scattered, each to his home, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. 16 33 I have told you all this so that in me you may find peace. In the world you will have trouble. But courage! The victory is mine; I have conquered the world.'
