katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE - select-a-version: New English Bible (New Testament)

katapi HOME Luke 22:56-6222 56 A serving-maid who saw him sitting in the firelight stared at him and said, 'This man was with him too.' 22 57 But he denied it: 'Woman,' he said, 'I do not know him.' 22 58 A little later someone else noticed him and said, 'You also are one of them.' 22 59 But Peter said to him, 'No, I am not.' About an hour passed and another spoke more strongly still: 'Of course this fellow was with him. He must have been; he is a Galilean.' 22 60 But Peter said, 'Man, I do not know what you are talking about.' At that moment, while he was still speaking, a cock crew; 22 61 and the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the Lord's words, 'Tonight before the cock crows you will disown me three times.'
22 62 Some manuscripts add: He went outside, and wept bitterly, (as in Matthew 26.75).
