13 24 'But in those days, after that distress, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light; 13 25 the stars will come falling from the sky, the celestial powers will be shaken. 13 26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory, 13 27 and he will send out the angels and gather his chosen from the four winds, from the farthest bounds of earth to the farthest bounds of heaven.

13 28 'Learn a lesson from the fig-tree. When its tender shoots appear and are breaking into leaf, you know that summer is near. 13 29 In the same way, when you see all this happening, you may know that the end is near, Or: that he is near. at the very door. 13 30 I tell you this: the present generation will live to see it all. 13 31 Heaven and earth will pass away; my words will never pass away.

13 32 'But about that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, not even the Son; only the Father.
13 33 'Be alert, be wakeful. Some witnesses add: and pray. You do not know when the moment comes. 13 34 It is like a man away from home: he has left his house and put his servants in charge, each with his own work to do, and he has ordered the doorkeeper to stay stay awake. 13 35 Keep awake, then, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming. 13 36 Evening or midnight, cock-crow or early dawn—if he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. 13 37 And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Keep awake.'
