7 ²⁴ 'What then of the man who hears these words of mine and acts upon them? He is like a man who had the sense to build his house on rock. 7 ²⁵ The rain came down, the floods rose, the wind blew, and beat upon that house; but it did not fall, because its foundations were on rock 7 ²⁶ But what of the man who hears these words of mine and does not act upon them? He is like a man who was foolish enough to build his house on sand. 7 ²⁷ The rain came down, the floods rose, the wind blew, and beat upon that house; down it fell with a great crash.'

7 ²⁸ When Jesus had finished this discourse the people were astounded at his teaching; 7 ²⁹ unlike their own teachers he taught with a note of authority.
