26 26 Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his friend and Phicol the commander of his army. 26 27 Isaac said to them, 'Why have you come here? You hate me and you sent me away.' 26 28 They answered, 'We have seen plainly that the LORD is with you, so we thought, "Let the two of us put each other to the oath and make a treaty that will bind us." 26 29 We have not attacked you, we have done you nothing but good, and we let you go away peaceably. Swear that you will do us no harm, now that the LORD has blessed you.' 26 30 So Isaac gave a feast and they ate and drank. 26 31 They rose early in the morning and exchanged oaths. Then Isaac bade them farewell, and they parted from him in peace. 26 32 The same day Isaac's slaves came and told him about a well that they had dug: 'We have found water', they said. 26 33 He named the well Shibah That is Oath. This is why the city is called Beersheba That is Well of an Oath to this day.
