28After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), "I thirst."The Death of Jesus Jn.19.28-30 (Golgotha) | Mt.27.45-56 | Mk.15.33-41 | Lk.23.44-49Μετὰ τοῦτο εἰδὼς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι ἠδη πάντα τετέλεσται, ἵνα τελειωθῇ ἡ γραφή, λέγει, Διψῶ.
29A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth. σκεῦος ἐκειτο ὀξους μεστόν· σπόγγον οὖν μεστὸν τοῦ ὄξους ὑσσώπῳ περιθέντες προσήνεγκαν αὐτοῦ τῷ στόματι.
30When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished"; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. ὅτε οὖν ἐλαβεν τὸ ὀξος Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, Τετέλεσται· καὶ κλίνας τὴν κεφαλὴν παρέδωκεν τὸ πνεῦμα.
