10 1"At that time Yahweh said to me, 'Hew two tables of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood.The two tablets of stone.
2And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.'
3So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables in my hand.
4And he wrote on the tables, as at the first writing, the ten commandments which Yahweh had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and Yahweh gave them to me.
5Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as Yahweh commanded me.
6(The people of Israel journeyed from Beeroth-bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his stead.
7From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water.
8At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, to stand before Yahweh to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day.
9Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers; Yahweh is his inheritance, as Yahweh your God said to him.)
10"I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and Yahweh hearkened to me that time also; Yahweh was unwilling to destroy you.
11And Yahweh said to me, 'Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.'

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
