| 2 1 | in the seventh month, on the twenty-first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, | The splendour of the second temple. Hg.2.1-9 | בַּשְּׁבִיעִי בְּעֶשְׂרִים וְאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ הָיָה דְּבַר־יְהוָה בְּיַד־חַגַּי הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר׃ |

| 2 | "Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, and say, | | אֱמָר־נָא אֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶל בֶּן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵל פַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְאֶל־יְהֹושֻׁעַ בֶּן־יְהֹוצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹול וְאֶל־שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם לֵאמֹר׃ |

| 3 | 'Who is left among you that saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Is it not in your sight as nothing? | | מִי בָכֶם הַנִּשְׁאָר אֲשֶׁר רָאָה אֶת־הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה בִּכְבֹודֹו הָרִאשֹׁון וּמָה אַתֶּם רֹאִים אֹתֹו עַתָּה הֲלֹוא כָמֹהוּ כְּאַיִן בְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃ |

| 4 | Yet now take courage, O Zerubbabel, says Yahweh; take courage, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; take courage, all you people of the land, says Yahweh; work, for I am with you, says Yahweh of hosts, | | וְעַתָּה חֲזַק זְרֻבָּבֶל נְאֻם־יְהוָה וַחֲזַק יְהֹושֻׁעַ בֶּן־יְהֹוצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹול וַחֲזַק כָּל־עַם הָאָרֶץ נְאֻם־יְהוָה וַעֲשׂוּ כִּי־אֲנִי אִתְּכֶם נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֹות׃ |

| 5 | according to the promise that I made you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit abides among you; fear not. | | אֶת־הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־כָּרַתִּי אִתְּכֶם בְּצֵאתְכֶם מִמִּצְרַיִם וְרוּחִי עֹמֶדֶת בְּתֹוכְכֶם אַל־תִּירָאוּ׃ ס |

| 6 | For thus says Yahweh of hosts: Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land; | | כִּי כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאֹות עֹוד אַחַת מְעַט הִיא וַאֲנִי מַרְעִישׁ אֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ וְאֶת־הַיָּם וְאֶת־הֶחָרָבָה׃ |

| 7 | and I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with splendour, says Yahweh of hosts. | | וְהִרְעַשְׁתִּי אֶת־כָּל־הַגֹּויִם וּבָאוּ חֶמְדַּת כָּל־הַגֹּויִם וּמִלֵּאתִי אֶת־הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה כָּבֹוד אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאֹות׃ |

| 8 | The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says Yahweh of hosts. | | לִי הַכֶּסֶף וְלִי הַזָּהָב נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֹות׃ |

| 9 | The latter splendour of this house shall be greater than the former, says Yahweh of hosts; and in this place I will give prosperity, says Yahweh of hosts.' " | | גָּדֹול יִהְיֶה כְּבֹוד הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה הָאַחֲרֹון מִן־הָרִאשֹׁון אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאֹות וּבַמָּקֹום הַזֶּה אֶתֵּן שָׁלֹום נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֹות׃ ף |
