12 | 'To the angel of the church at Pergamum write: '"These are the words of the One who has the sharp two-edged sword: | The Message to Pergamum Re.2.12-17 | Καὶ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῆς ἐν Περγάμῳ ἐκκλησίας γράψον· Τάδε λέγει ὁ ἐχων τὴν ῥομφαίαν τὴν δίστομον τὴν ὀξεῖαν· |
13 | I know where you live; it is the place where Satan has his throne. And yet you are holding fast to my cause. You did not deny your faith in me even at the time when Antipas, my faithful witness, was killed in your city, the home of Satan. | Οἶδα ποῦ κατοικεῖς, ὁπου ὁ θρόνος τοῦ Σατανᾶ, καὶ κρατεῖς τὸ ὀνομά μου, καὶ οὐκ ἠρνήσω τὴν πίστιν μου καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἀντιπᾶς ὁ μάρτυς μου ὁ πιστός μου, ὃς ἀπεκτά νθη παρ' ὑμῖν, ὁπου ὁ Σατανᾶς κατοικεῖ. | |
14 | But I have a few matters to bring against you: you have in Pergamum some that hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put temptation in the way of the Israelites. He encouraged them to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication, | ἀλλ' ἐχω κατὰ σοῦ ὀλίγα, ὅτι ἐχεις ἐκεῖ κρατοῦντας τὴν διδαχὴν Βαλαάμ, ὃς ἐδίδασκεν τῷ Βαλὰκ βαλεῖν σκάνδαλον ἐνώπιον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, φαγεῖν εἰδωλόθυτα καὶ πορνεῦσαι· | |
15 | and in the same way you also have some who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans. | οὑτως ἐχεις καὶ σὺ κρατοῦντας τὴν διδαχὴν τῶν Νικολαϊτῶν ὁμοίως. | |
16 | So repent! If you do not, I shall come to you soon and make war upon them with the sword that comes out of my mouth. | μετανόησον οὖν· εἰ δὲ μή, ἐρχομαί σοι ταχύ, καὶ πολεμήσω μετ' αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ τοῦ στόματός μου. | |
17 | Hear, you who have ears to hear, what the Spirit says to the churches! To him who is victorious I will give some of the hidden manna; I will give him also a white stone, and on the stone will be written a new name, known to none but him that receives it." | ὁ ἐχων οὖς ἀκουσάτω τί τὸ Πνεῦμα λέγει ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις. τῷ νικῶντι δώσω αὐτῷ τοῦ μάννα τοῦ κεκρυμμένου, καὶ δώσω αὐτῷ ψῆφον λευκὴν καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν ψῆφον ὀνομα καινὸν γ εγραμμένον ὃ οὐδεὶς οἶδεν εἰ μὺ ὁ λαμβάνων. |
