18	Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour.	The Antichrist 1Jn.2.18-27	Παιδία, ἐσχάτη ὡρα ἐστίν, καὶ καθὼς ἠκούσατε ὅτι ἀντίΧριστος ἐρχεται, καὶ νῦν ἀντίΧριστοι πολλοὶ γεγόνασιν· ὁθεν γινώσκομεν ὅτι ἐσχάτη ὡρα ἐστίν.
19	They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, that it might be plain that they all are not of us.		ἐξ ἡμῶν ἐξῆλθαν, ἀλλ' οὐκ ἦσαν ἐξ ἡμῶν· εἰ γὰρ ἐξ ἡμῶν ἦσαν, μεμενήκεισαν ἂν μεθ' ἡμῶν· ἀλλ' ἵνα φανερωθῶσιν ὅτι οὐκ εἰσὶν πάντες ἐξ ἡμῶν.
20	But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all know.		καὶ ὑμεῖς χρῖσμα ἐχετε ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀγίου, καὶ οἰδατε πάντες.
21	I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth.		οὐκ ἐγραψα ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκ οἰδατε τὴν ἀλήθειαν, ἀλλ' ὅτι οἰδατε αὐτήν, καὶ ὅτι πᾶν ψεῦδος ἐκ τῆς ἀληθείας οὐκ ἐστιν.
22	Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.		Τίς ἐστιν ὁ ψεύστης εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀρνούμενος ὅτι Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἐστιν ὁ Χριστός; οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀντίΧριστος, ὁ ἀρνούμενος τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὸν υἱόν.
23	No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.		πᾶς ὁ ἀρνούμενος τὸν υἱὸν οὐδὲ τὸν πατέρα ἐχει· ὁ ὁμολογῶν τὸν υἱὸν καὶ τὸν πατέρα ἐχει.
24	Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father.		ὑμεῖς ὃ ἠκούσατε ἀπ' ἀρχῆς ἐν ὑμῖν μενέτω· ἐὰν ἐν ὑμῖν μείνῃ ὃ ἀπ' ἀρχῆς ἠκούσατε, καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν τῷ υἱῷ καὶ ἐν τῷ πατρὶ μενεῖτε.
25	And this is what he has promised us, eternal life.		καὶ αὑτη ἐστὶν ἡ ἐπαγγελία ἣν αὐτὸς ἐπηγγείλατο ἡμῖν, τὴν ζωὴν τὴν αἰώνιον.
26	I write this to you about those who would deceive you;		Ταῦτα ἐγραψα ὑμῖν περὶ τῶν πλανώντων ὑμᾶς.
27	but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.		καὶ ὑμεῖς τὸ χρῖσμα ὃ ἐλάβετε ἀπ' αὐτοῦ μένει ἐν ὑμῖν, καὶ οὐ χρείαν ἐχετε ἵνα τις διδάσκῃ ὑμᾶς· ἀλλ' ὡς τὸ αὐτοῦ χρῖσμα διδάσκει ὑμᾶς περὶ πάντων, καὶ ἀληθές ἐς τιν καὶ οὐκ ἐστιν ψεῦδος, καὶ καθὼς ἐδίδαξεν ὑμᾶς, μένετε ἐν αὐτῷ.

The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
