| 26 | for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. | 27 | And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, | καὶ καθ' ὁσον ἀπόκειται τοῖς ἀνθρώποις ἀπαξ ἀποθανεῖν, μετὰ δὲ τοῦτο κρίσις, | |
| 28 | so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. | οὑτως καὶ ὁ Χριστός, ἀπαξ προσενεχθεὶς εἰς τὸ πολλῶν ἀνενεγκεῖν ἀμαρτίας, ἐκ δευτέρου χωρὶς ἀμαρτίας ὀφθήσεται τοῖς αὐτὸν ἀπεκδεχομένοις εἰς σωτηρίαν. | |

| 2 | Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered? If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness of sin. | ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἂν ἐπαύσαντο προσφερόμεναι, διὰ τὸ μηδεμίαν ἐχειν ἐτι συνείδησιν ἀμαρτιῶν τοὺς λατρεύοντας ἀπαξ κεκαθαρισμένους; | |
| 3 | But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year. | ἀλλ' ἐν αὐταῖς ἀνάμνησις ἀμαρτιῶν κατ' ἐνιαυτόν, | |
| 4 | For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. | ἀδύνατον γὰρ αἷμα ταύρων καὶ τράγων ἀφαιρεῖν ἀμαρτίας. | |
| 5 | Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, "Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, | - Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired Hb.10.5-7 | Ps.40.6-8 | Διὸ εἰσερχόμενος εἰς τὸν κόσμον λέγει, Θυσίαν καὶ προσφορὰν οὐκ ἠθέλησας, |
