1 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

5For to what angel did God ever say,

"You are my Son,
today I have begotten you"? Or again,

"I will be to him a father,
and he shall be to me a son"?

The Son Superior to Angels Hb.1.5-14 | | Τίνι γὰρ εἶπέν ποτε τῶν ἀγγέλων,

ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε;

καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται μοι εἰς υἱόν;

6And again, when he brings the first-born into the world, he says,

"Let all God's angels worship him."

- Let all God's angels worship him.

7Of the angels he says,

"Who makes his angels winds,
and his servants flames of fire."

- Who makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire.

8But of the Son he says,

"Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever,
the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.

- Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever Hb.1.8-9 | Ps.45.6-7πρὸς δὲ τὸν υἱόν,

9You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your comrades."
10And,

"You, Lord, founded the earth in the beginning,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;

- Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning Hb.1.10-12 | Ps.102.25-27καί,

11they will perish, but you remain;
they will all grow old like a garment,

12like a mantle you will roll them up,
and they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end."
13But to what angel has he ever said,

"Sit at my right hand,
till I make your enemies a stool for your feet"?

- Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet Hb.1.13 | Ps.110.1πρὸς τίνα δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἰρηκέν ποτε,

Kάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου
ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου;

14Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of all those who are to obtain salvation. οὐχὶ πάντες εἰσὶν λειτουργικὰ πνεύματα εἰς διακονίαν ἀποστελλόμενα διὰ τοὺς μέλλοντας κληρονομεῖν σωτηρίαν;

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
