| 14 | For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. | | εἰ γὰρ πιστεύομεν ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἀνέστη, οὑτως καὶ ὁ θεὸς τοὺς κοιμηθέντας διὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἀξει σὺν αὐτῷ. |

| 17 | then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord. | | ἐπειτα ἡμεῖς οἱ ζῶντες οἱ περιλειπόμενοι ἀμα σὺν αὐτοῖς ἀρπαγησόμεθα ἐν νεφέλαις εἰς ἀπάντησιν τοῦ κυρίου εἰς ἀέρα· καὶ οὑτως πάντοτε σὺν κυρίῳ ἐσόμεθα. |

| 2 | For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. | | αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀκριβῶς οἰδατε ὅτι ἡμέρα κυρίου ὡς κλέπτης ἐν νυκτὶ οὑτως ἐρχεται. |

| 3 | When people say, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape. | | ὁταν λέγωσιν, Εἰρήνη καὶ ἀσφάλεια, τότε αἰφνίδιος αὐτοῖς ἐφίσταται ὀλεθρος ὡσπερ ἡ ὠδὶν τῇ ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσῃ, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκφύγωσιν. |

| 4 | But you are not in darkness, brethren, for that day to surprise you like a thief. | | ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐν σκότει, ἵνα ἡ ἡμέρα ὑμᾶς ὡς κλέπτης καταλάβῃ, |

| 5 | For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. | | πάντες γὰρ ὑμεῖς υἱοὶ φωτός ἐστε καὶ υἱοὶ ἡμέρας. οὐκ ἐσμὲν νυκτὸς οὐδὲ σκότους· |

| 6 | So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. | | ἀρα οὖν μὴ καθεύδωμεν ὡς οἱ λοιποί, ἀλλὰ γρηγορῶμεν καὶ νήφωμεν. |

| 7 | For those who sleep sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. | | οἱ γὰρ καθεύδοντες νυκτὸς καθεύδουσιν, καὶ οἱ μεθυσκόμενοι νυκτὸς μεθύουσιν· |
