5 katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE Passage New Testament in Greek (UBS.Ed.26)

6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7Therefore do not associate with them, μὴ οὖν γίνεσθε συμμέτοχοι αὐτῶν·
8for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light  ἦτε γάρ ποτε σκότος, νῦν δὲ φῶς ἐν κυρίῳ· ὡς τέκνα φωτὸς περιπατεῖτε
9(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), - ὁ γὰρ καρπὸς τοῦ φωτὸς ἐν πάσῃ ἀγαθωσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀληθείᾳ -
10and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
11Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
12For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; τὰ γὰρ κρυφῇ γινόμενα ὑπ' αὐτῶν αἰσχρόν ἐστιν καὶ λέγειν·
13but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.
14Therefore it is said,

"Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give you light."

15Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
16making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,  καὶ μὴ μεθύσκεσθε οἰνῳ, ἐν ᾧ ἐστιν ἀσωτία, ἀλλὰ πληροῦσθε ἐν πνεύματι,
19addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart,
20always and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
21Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Notes: This page displays passages from the katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE.
The katapi NEW STUDY BIBLE is a very light revision of the RSV. The changes are: (1) In places where 'the LORD', 'O LORD' occurs in the RSV, (it represents the tetragrammaton - YHWH - which is in the hebrew text), I have used the name 'Yahweh'.
(2) I have removed the quotation marks and hyphens that were used in so many names in the RSV as an aid to correct pronunciation. This now brings it in line with all other English versions, and makes any word-search more accurate.
(3) I have changed all (I hope!) of the RSV archaic language sections to modern.

The katapi New Study Bible reference section displays links to parallel passages, and to direct quotations by New Testament authors to Old Testament passages. Quotations of OT passages by NT authors can in most cases be viewed within their context of the OT passage as a whole, with the quoted text displayed, against a subdued background.
